Mark Levin Exposes How Your Tax Money Funding Radical Left Orgs for Decades (6/19/09)

Ya know how investigator general Gerald Walpin was just fired by Barack Obama curiously after he discovered the misuse of funds by prominent Obama-supporter, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson? Well, how's this for misuse of funds?

Mark's opening monologue in the first hour of Friday's show was bone chilling. He retells how, as a young law school graduate in the early 80's, he was part of an organization that discovered how tax dollars were being laundered through front groups to reach counter-revolutionary left-wing organizations, one of them being ACORN and other groups run by radical 60's leftists such as Tom Hayden and Jane Fonda. During the investigation Levin himself discovered thousands of copies of Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," which were being distributed to community organizers all over the country--on on the tax-payer's dime. Levin helped see to the defunding of these organizations.

Now, with the help of Alinsky's chief apprentice Barack Obama in the White House, these organizations are back with a vengeance. Why else, Levin asks, would Obama have sought to allocate billions upon billions of stimulus money to ACORN and other such groups? It seems Barack Obama is a Trojan Horse that the Alinskyites have been waiting for for decades. It sounds to me like the biggest infiltration of America's enemies into the highest levels of government since the days of

"With the New Party’s rise and its entanglements with ACORN [Association of Community Organizers For Reform Now] came the rise of Barack Obama. According to Stanley Kurtz, “Acorn is the key modern successor of the radical 1960’s ‘New Left,’ with a ‘1960’s-bred agenda of anti-capitalism’ to match.” And Barack Obama was ACORN’s lawyer."

From Obama's official website:

When Obama met with ACORN leaders in November, he reminded them of his history with ACORN and his beginnings in Illinois as a Project Vote organizer, a nonprofit focused on voter rights and education. Senator Obama said, "I come out of a grassroots organizing background. That's what I did for three and half years before I went to law school. That's the reason I moved to Chicago was to organize. So this is something that I know personally, the work you do, the importance of it. I've been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.”

ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) is the nation's largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, with over 350,000 member families organized into 800 neighborhood chapters in 104 cities across the country. Since 1970 ACORN has taken action and won victories on issues of concern to its members, including better housing for first time homebuyers and tenants, living wages for low-wage workers, more investment in our communities from banks and governments, and better public schools.

Archives prove Obama was a New Party member (updated)
Thomas Lifson

Another piece in the puzzle of Barack Obama has been revealed, greatly strengthening the picture of a man groomed by an older generation of radical leftists for insertion into the American political process, trading on good looks, brains, educational pedigree, and the desire of the vast majority of the voting public to right the historical racial wrongs of the land.

The New Party was a radical left organization, established in 1992, to amalgamate far left groups and push the United States into socialism by forcing the Democratic Party to the left. It was an attempt to regroup the forces on the left in a new strategy to take power, burrowing from within. The party only lasted until 1998, when its strategy of "fusion" failed to withstand a Supreme Court ruling. But dissolving the party didn't stop the membership, including Barack Obama, from continuing to move the Democrats leftward with spectacular success.

NOTE: As of today, June 10, 2009, DiscoverTheNetworks.org/FrontPageMag.com profile doesn't (yet?) include the latest revelation that (President) Obama was actually a member of the New Party. HOWEVER, he does link to several articles on the left side of the page that apparently do go into it in detail.-ETL

PROFILE: NEW PARTY (NP)
* Marxist political coalition
* Was active from 1992-1998
* Endorsed Barack Obama for Illinois state senate seat in 1996

Co-founded in 1992 by Daniel Cantor (a former staffer for Jesse Jackson's 1988 presidential campaign) and Joel Rogers (a sociology and law professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison), the New Party was a Marxist political coalition whose objective was to endorse and elect leftist public officials -- most often Democrats. The New Party's short-term objective was to move the Democratic Party leftward, thereby setting the stage for the eventual rise of new Marxist third party.

Most New Party members hailed from the Democratic Socialists of America and the militant organization ACORN. The party's Chicago chapter also included a large contingent from the Committees of Correspondence, a Marxist coalition of former Maoists, Trotskyists, and Communist Party USA members.

The New Party's modus operandi included the political strategy of "electoral fusion," where it would nominate, for various political offices, candidates from other parties (usually Democrats), thereby enabling each of those candidates to occupy more than one ballot line in the voting booth. By so doing, the New Party often was able to influence candidates' platforms. (Fusion of this type is permitted in seven states -- Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Mississippi, New York, South Carolina, and Vermont -- but is common only in New York.)

Though Illinois was not one of the states that permitted electoral fusion, in 1995 Barack Obama nonetheless sought the New Party's endorsement for his 1996 state senate run. He was successful in obtaining that endorsement, and he used a number of New Party volunteers as campaign workers.

In 1996, three of the four candidates endorsed by the New Party won their electoral primaries. The three victors included Barack Obama (in the 13th State Senate District), Danny Davis (in the 7th Congressional District), and Patricia Martin, who won the race for Judge in the 7th Subcircuit Court. All four candidates attended an April 11, 1996 New Party membership meeting to express their gratitude for the party's support.

The New Party's various chapters similarly helped to elect dozens of other political candidates in a host of American cities.

One of the more notable New Party members was Carl Davidson, a Chicago-based Marxist who became a political supporter of Barack Obama in the mid-1990s.

In 1997 the New Party's influence declined precipitously after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that electoral fusion was not protected by the First Amendment's freedom of association clause. By 1998 the party was essentially defunct. Daniel Canto and other key party members went on to establish a new organization with similar ideals, the Working Families Party of New York.

The Columbus Free Press
New Party Online News - Elections Update

In the end the outcome was predictable, and predictably depressing. Voting for Clinton while simultaneously supporting the local Republican Congressman was not contradictory. My personal favorite line: With these results, I'd better get some of that medicinal marijuana...

So we're back where we were a few days ago. Gingrich sets the agenda, Clinton rotates it a few degrees to make it palatable. Our task, and there are no shortcuts, is to build enough power to produce better choices in the future.

A few more steps down that road were taken by local New Party chapters on Tuesday. Here are some highlights:

Overall: Campaign finance led the way, with overwhelming victories in Arkansas and Massachusetts. Not counting Washington, DC's ANC races, NP members and supported candidates won 16 of 23 races, bringing our overall total to 110 victories in 163 races.

Arkansas: As local favorite Bill Clinton swept to victory under cloud of tainted contributions, an NP and ACORN-backed statewide initiative for real campaign finance reform won an overwhelming victory, outpolling Clinton and Perot combined. The measure lowers contribution limits to $300 for statewide candidates and $100 for state legislative and local candidates, grants a tax credit for small donors, and tightens reporting and disclosure requirements. It'll be a big step in leveling the playing field for grassroots candidates against their corporate funded opponents. And in the first city-wide victory for a New Party candidate in Little Rock, member Paul Kelly won an at-large City Council seat. He'll join NP members Gloria Wilson and Willie Hinton on the Council, with the potential for a strong progressive caucus. In a second at-large City Council race, NP member Genevieve Stewart made a strong showing. She finished third against 2 entrenched incumbents but built her name recognition and a base of support for a possible ward race for City Council next year. Finally, in a classic New Party vs. the Right Wing matchup, member Jayne Cia handily defeated the Arkansas state chair of Empower America (Bill Bennett's organization) for a seat on the County Board.

Illinois: The first NP member heads to Congress, as Danny Davis wins an overwhelming 85% victory yesterday (he got a higher percentage of the vote in that district than the President). NP member and State Senate candidate Barack Obama won uncontested. Interestingly, it appears that the local Democratic machine is trying to distance itself from our folks. At a "Democratic Unity" march on Chicago's West Side, a flyer invited community members to join with a host of local democratic candidates. The only two west-side Democrats not listed: NP members Danny Davis (U.S. House candidate) and Michael Chandler (Alderman and Ward Committeeman). ..."

Inside Obama’s Acorn:
By their fruits ye shall know them

Stanley Kurtz, May 29, 2008

"What if Barack Obama’s most important radical connection has been hiding in plain sight all along? Obama has had an intimate and long-term association with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (Acorn), the largest radical group in America. If I told you Obama had close ties with MoveOn.org or Code Pink, you’d know what I was talking about. Acorn is at least as radical as these better-known groups, arguably more so. Yet because Acorn works locally, in carefully selected urban areas, its national profile is lower. Acorn likes it that way. And so, I’d wager, does Barack Obama."

From David Horowitz's
FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org

PROFILE: WADE RATHKE

Wade Rathke founded the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), for which he served as Chief Organizer from 1970 to 2008. He is also the co-founder and Chairman of the Tides Center; a Board member of the Tides Foundation; an Executive Board member of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU); and Chairman of the AFL-CIO’s Organizers Forum. Rathke describes himself as someone who is dedicated to “winning social justice, workers' rights, and a democracy where ‘the people shall rule’”; i.e., socialism.

Rathke hails from a family of prosperous orange ranchers in Orange County, California. During the late 1960s he attended Williams College in Massachusetts but dropped out before graduating. He thereafter became a draft-resistance organizer for the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), and an organizer for George Wiley’s National Welfare Reform Organization (NWRO). (For details on NWRO, see the separate entries for George Wiley and the “Cloward-Piven Strategy.”)

In 1970, Wiley sent Rathke to Little Rock, Arkansas to begin organizing NWRO chapters in the South. By that time, Wiley -- who was African American -- was coming under attack by black militants who opposed his policy of placing whites such as Rathke in NWRO leadership positions.

Rathke, perhaps sensing that he might soon be demoted or released entirely, in 1970 formed a new organization called Arkansas Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). He enlisted civil rights workers and trained them in a program (at Syracuse University) patterned after Saul Alinsky’s activist tactics.

The group’s name was later changed to Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, but the acronym ACORN remained the same. ..."

A few critics claim Obama, now 46,
exaggerates his accomplishments, particularly in spearheading asbestos cleanup at a low-income housing project.

He omits from his account of that fight a longtime community activist who
many people say played a significant role.

Community Organizer Obama never finished what he started,
note the date of the article,
the resident still have asbestos 21 years later;

On the Streets of Chicago, a Candidate Comes of Age
As a community organizer, Obama was a pragmatic leader
By Kenneth T. Walsh

Perhaps his most confrontational effort was to pressure city authorities
to remove asbestos from the apartments in 1986.
When the on-site manager didn’t take action,
Obama nudged the residents into confronting city housing officials
in two angry public meetings downtown.
These generated “a victory of sorts,” Obama said later,
as workers soon began sealing the asbestos in the buildings.

But the project gradually ran out of steam and money.

In fact, some tenants still have asbestos in their homes,
according to current resident Linda Randle, 53,
who worked with Obama in the ‘86 anti-asbestos campaign.

This Is What We Are Up Against
By Mark Levin
June 19, 2009
The Mark Levin Show

I want to tell you a little story, it’s a personal story, but it’s a story I think that reflects on what’s going on in Washington today. I spoke about it a little bit once, but I want to elaborate.

When I was 22 years old I had already graduated from law school, and I was working for Texas Instruments legal department in Richardson, Texas, but I had campaigned for Reagan in ‘76 and ‘80, and I very much wanted to work in his administration. So to shorten the story a little bit, I came to Washington at the very beginning of the Reagan administration, and I worked for the director of an agency called the Action Agency, and the director was Tom Pauken, a dear friend, eventually becoming chief of staff to the administrator there.

Now I was only 22 years old, and one of my responsibilities when I first got there, because he hadn’t been confirmed yet, was to take a measure of the place. There were only a handful of us there, and I was among the first. So I started to look around, it was kind of a dungy office building, and yet it was right off Lafayette Square, one block from the White House.

Now the Action Agency was an umbrella agency that included such programs as the VISTA program, which many of you’ve heard of. At the time it also included the Peace Corps as well as a number of others. And it had grant-making power and contract-making power, and it received, oh, a hundred, hundred-fifty, three hundred million in it’s heyday. Most of the money would go through Action into these other entities and out to communities. Seems harmless enough. Action was said to be the ‘nation’s volunteer organization for fighting poverty’, among other things. And yet, when I got there, I noticed some funny things. Remember, we were the new incoming Reagan team replacing the old outgoing Carter team.

Well, the director of the agency had been a guy by the name of Sam Brown. Sam Brown had been active in Students for Democratic Action. He was a radical leftist. Found that strange. And as I walked around the building, I found a bunch of cartons. Big boxes. All kinds of radical literature that had been purchased by the federal taxpayer and sent to these poor communities by VISTA. And in those boxes were hundreds of copies of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”. And I read it. And I was stunned that these books had been purchased and, by the thousands, had been sent to communities throughout America. In other words, our government was paying for a revolution in our inner cities through this agency. I thought, Sam Brown......Students for Democrat Action......Students for Democrat Society, this is pretty radical stuff.

Then I looked further. I found that somebody by the name of Margery Tabankin had been working in the agency. Let me read you a summary of Margery Tabankin’s background. She, quote, “is the executive director of both Steven Spielberg's Righteous Persons Foundation and the Streisand Foundation. Established in 1994 with Spielberg’s profits from “Schindler's List”, the Righteous Persons Foundation has made over $60 million in grants to projects which strengthen and reinvigorate Jewish life in the United States”, OK, and there’s other parts. What else has she done?

“From 1988 to 1994 she served as the executive director of Hollywood’s Women’s Political Committee. During this time she helped to establish an extremely effective and powerful women’s political organization raising over $5 million for Progressive candidates.” OK. What else has she done?

“From 1981 to 1988 Tabankin was the executive director of the Arca Foundation in Washington, a fund dedicated to supporting economic and policy issues related to equity, civil rights, the environment, and human rights.” Oh, OK. What else has she done?

“Previously, Tabankin had served as director of Volunteers In Service To America VISTA under President Carter from 1977 to 1981.” Oh, she’s the one that ordered the purchase of “Rules for Radicals” by Saul Alinsky, among other things.

Quote, “Tabankin began her activist career at age 19 while a student at the University of Wisconsin where she was deeply involved in anti-war and civil rights activities. After college, she became one of the first woman trainees at Saul Alinsky’s Institute for Community Organizers in Chicago, Illinois. She went on to Washington, D.C. to work on the Youth Citizen’s Fund’s campaign to pass a constitutional amendment to lower the age to 18 for voting. Soon after, she became the first woman president of National Student Association.” She’s an Alinskyite. Now she works for Spielberg and Streisand. Back then, she was a radical, and she still is. And I remember her well.

VISTA did more that hand out copies of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” by the thousands. It also issued hundreds of millions of dollars in grants to ACORN, to public interest research groups, PIRG’s they were called, to CAP’s, they were called community activist programs or community action programs, take your pick. They also gave out millions and millions of dollars to Tom Hayden’s group, including camps that Tom Hayden and Jane Fonda had in California to train new young radical revolutionaries. All under Carter, who was considered a ‘moderate’ president. A small backwater agency.

There was another person that had been employed there by the name of Heather Booth. Heather Booth. Discover the Networks reports as follows about Heather Booth: “Radical organizer/activist since the early 1960s, co-founder and President of the Midwest Academy, which teaches tactics of direct action, confrontation, and intimidation”, more Alinsky, “helped develop methods adopted by AFL-CIO’s “Union Summer”, co-founder of left Democrat group Coalition for Democratic Values, was Training Director for the Democratic National Committee, executive Director of the NAACP's National Voter Fund, board member of the Center for Community Change, vice President of USAction.” Heather Booth.

“Heather Booth”, it says, “is a veteran activist in the civil rights, women’s rights, and antiwar movements. She was a co-founder and onetime President of the Midwest Academy and currently serves as a board member of the Center for Community Change, Vice President of USAction, and Director of the AFL-CIO’s campaign for universal health care coverage. She also is a guiding force of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Moreover, she has served as a consultant to such groups as the National Organization for Women, Campaign for America’s Future, MoveOn.org, Working Assets, and TrueMajority.”

“Booth enrolled at the University of Chicago in 1963 and quickly became active in the civil rights and anti-Vietnam War movements as a member of the Freedom Summer Civil Rights Project and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. She also served as a leader of the Progressive Student Political Committee.”

“Booth was enthralled by the sense of unity she felt among the various radical factions with which she became involved during the Sixties.”

“In 1965 Booth turned her attention to feminist issues...Heather Booth’s husband, Paul Booth, was a founder and national secretary of Students for a Democratic Society”, radical, violent left-wing group. “He is currently an assistant to Gerald McEntee, President of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).” Isn’t it interesting, ladies and gentlemen, how the leadership of the AFL-CIO, AFSCME, the SIEU, how the heads of these unions are locked in with these radical leftists from the 1960’s?

“In 1979 Heather Booth helped organize five state activist groups in Oregon, Massachusetts, Illinois, Connecticut, and Ohio into a national federation called Citizen Action, a consumer advocacy organization focused on such issues as environmentalism and socialized medicine.” Citizen Action also received millions of dollars from you through this little Action Agency and VISTA. “She served as Citizen Action's co-director until 1988. By 1999 the group had become moribund, and Booth helped resurrect it that year under the name USAction.”

“In 1992 Booth directed the Field Operation for Illinois Democrat Carol Moseley Braun’s successful run for the U.S. Senate.”

“In 1993 Booth became Training Director for the Democratic National Committee. Booth also served as a legislative aide to Democratic Senator Howard Metzenbaum before he retired in 1995”, Metzenbaum being an ultra-radical leftist. “In 1998 Booth was a signatory to the Statement of Principles of the New Century Alliance for Social Security, a coalition of groups -- spearheaded by the Institute for America’s Future -- that opposed the privatization of Social Security.”

AFSCME, AFL-CIO, SIEU, these big unions linked with the “New Left”, that’s the phrase, that’s the group, the “New Left”, the Sam Brown’s, Marge Tabankin’s, Heather Booth’s, all of whom worked with Action and VISTA in the Carter administration, all of whom were Alinskyites.

“In October 2006, Booth lent her name to a letter rebutting accusations that MoveOn.org was an anti-Semitic entity. The controversy over MoveOn had begun when the organization cited approvingly a CounterPunch piece depicting American Jews as dual loyalists who make policy decisions in the interests of Israel as much as the United States.”

“Booth believes that the conservative movement in America is on the decline, and that the left needs to unite and seize the moment: “The right wing control (hegemony) is fracturing and it is not clear that it can be put back together.... A majority of people are turning against the right.... It is now, when there is this opening, that the extraordinary work which has been tak[ing] shape over the last 30 years really will pay off.” ”

“Over the years, Booth has contributed money to the campaigns of numerous political candidates -- all Democrats. Notable recipients of her donations include Barack Obama, Al Franken, Tom Harkin, Jesse Jackson, Kweisi Mfume, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Barbara Boxer, Tammy Baldwin, Al Gore, Ralph Neas, Jan Schakowsky, Russell Feingold, and Lane Evans.”

Ladies and gentlemen, Sam Brown, Marge Tabankin, Heather Booth, Tom Hayden, Jane Fonda, they used to be involved in, run, or be recipients of money from this little backwater agency called Action, an umbrella agency that I started in, and we, with my friend Tom Pauken and Jim Burnley and many, many others, Arthur Ferguson, I can’t name them all, defunded all these activities, defunded them. They’re back, in the office of the President of the United States. These are the people running your country. The 1960’s radicals, student left-wing radicals are back. They all are Alinskyites. They all are of the Marxist variety, whether people want to use that word or not. They all have something in common, in my view, with the Bill Ayers mentality, with the Jeremiah Wright mentality. Those were not exceptions, those are rules.

Now you understand better what we are fighting and who they are. We’ll be right back.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

I fought these people thirty years ago and I want you to know more about them. I fought them, directly, looked them in the eyes, defunded their grants, defunded these organizations. Little did I expect that they would wind up taking over the Democrat party itself and now the federal government, in particular the White House. And when we defeat them, and one day we will, wait ‘till you see what we uncover, the grants and the contracts and the special deals for the hard-core leftists, all aimed at gaining as much power as they can and destroying this country. We’re going to link to a terrific Heritage Foundation piece that was written in 1982. I know it’s terrific because much of the material in it was provided by me.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

I’ve studied and embraced liberty my entire life and I have fought tyranny my entire life, even as a young man. I don’t just talk about it, I’ve experienced it. I’ve seen it face to face. I know who these people are. I know how they operate. I know what they’re up to. And you know what else? They know who I am. They know who I am. When I was 22 years old and I walked into that agency, they feared me and they had every reason to fear me. I went through their databases, I found things that would, that would stun you, and we defunded them. And they’re back.

I’ll give you an example from this 1982 report, because these are the people who are back. This relates to VISTA again, a harmless, volunteer, poverty-fighting program which the New Left statists took over, laundered money through to fund their political activities.

And let me tell you something, AmeriCorps and these other groups, while their are very decent people that work for alot of these groups and have no idea what’s going on, there are many who do, certainly the leadership. And, by the way, this is why Gerald Walpin was thrown out. This is why Inspector General Gerald Walpin was thrown out of AmeriCorps. It has nothing to do with him, he’s a wonderful human being, incredibly intelligent, tremendous experience. The problem was, he was doing his job. They are going to launder hundreds of milllions of dollars through AmeriCorps and it’s offshoots to get to the same kind of groups that I and others defunded, I forgot to mention my buddy Lawrence Davenport, that I and others defunded when we came in after Carter in the Reagan administration. Here’s an example from 1982 as Heritage writes it up, and these are grants that I uncovered along with others:

“Under the Acorn/CORAP grant,” ACORN sets up all these different organizations, but just think ACORN, “VISTAs engaged in blatantly political activity in Arkansas and Missouri, while five VISTAs were active in a labor organizing campaign in New Orleans. In like manner, under the Midwest Academy grant,” another massive grant given to Heather Booth’s group, “two VISTAs worked virtually full-time in Rhode Island in labor organizing among jewelry workers. Training materials had to be withdrawn from use by both CORAP,” that’s ACORN, “and Midwest because of "intemperate" and excessively confrontational language.”

“National grantees were not the only organizations of a radical hue to benefit under the new program. Sponsoring organizations like the Illinois Public Action Council, Cleveland Women Working, the California Housing Action and Information Network, and the Institute for the Study of Civic Values also received assistance.” Two groups “have been actively represented at “Alternative Public Policy” gatherings staged by,” and the groups go on and on and on. One of the groups that got money, “Illinois Coalition Against Reagan Economics (ICARE), mounted a demonstration in Chicago during July 1981 to protest an appearance by President Reagan. The Institute for the Study of Civic Values, which was represented at a July 1977 NCASLPP conference, recently produced “The Cruelty Index -- A Guide to Reagan Budget Cuts” and “The Greed Index -- A Guide to Reagan Tax Reductions.” ” By the way, these were in many cases used by the media.

“Recently discovered documentary material reveals that a major training contract was awarded in August 1978 to the Laurel Springs Institute,...” ladies and gentlemen, Organizing for America, Barack Obama’s group, and other groups, they try to get to the young people and organize them and indoctrinate them. This is why I’m going through this, I’ve seen this before. Basically, Obama has taken Action and VISTA and moved them into the federal government as a whole. “...self-described as a project of a Campaign for Economic Democracy enterprise known as the Laurel Springs Educational Center. As far back as May 5, 1977, Tom Hayden wrote to Tabankin,” the head of VISTA, “We want a voice in the training of VISTAs in California and the definition of their work.” The CED staff employee recommended to Tabankin by Hayden was among those later invited to the roundtable meetings.” And it goes on and on.

“It was also designed, in the words of Hayden's wife, Jane Fonda, to aid CED in “building a political power base”. It included a training manual issued by the Midwest Academy,” Booth’s group, “and a resource list recommending publications of such organizations as the CED-related California Public Policy Center and an SDS offshoot known as the North American Congress on Latin America. Past workshops dealt with such subjects as "An Overview of Electoral Strategy in Relation To Community Organizing" and a "discussion of the meaning of Economic Democracy as it relates to community organizing. The propriety of government support for such a radical political apparatus is open to serious question, but it may be that the machinery of VISTA itself must be changed if similar abuses under future Sam Browns and Marge Tabankins are to be prevented.”

You see, they secrete themselves into these agencies, they pervert their missions, they take your money, and they fund these radical enterprises. That’s going on right now. I guarantee you it’s going on at the EPA, at the Interior Department, I’m sure it’s going on with all of these phony volunteer agencies where money’s being pushed through ACORN. Why do you think the President of the United States would fight so DAMN HARD to make sure four, five, six BILLION DOLLARS would be set aside for these groups? THESE ARE HIS BROWNSHIRTS. I KNOW, I’VE SEEN THEM. I HAVE DEALT WITH THEM. I HAVE FOUGHT WITH THEM. I KNOW WHO THEY ARE.

I KNOW WHO THEY ARE. THEY ARE THE 1960’s NEW LEFT RADICALS. ACORN’s JUST A TINY LITTLE PIECE. THEY’RE LIKE COCKROACHES. THEY SET UP ALL THESE GROUPS, POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEES, CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS, AND WHEN YOU CATCH UP WITH ONE, THEY CREATE ANOTHER. THEY’RE CONSTANTLY ON THE MOVE, AND OBAMA KNOWS ALL ABOUT THEM BECAUSE HE HELPED TO CREATE THEM. HE USED TO REPRESENT ACORN AND OTHERS. HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT HE’S DOING. THIS IS WHY THEY PUSHED BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN THE STIMULUS FOR THESE GROUPS, because they really do get a big bang for the buck, as they organize our communities against us. They organize them against us.

“The fact that VISTA is alive and growing and being celebrated at the White House is ... a sign of its success,” they said back in 1982. They are also linked to the Institute for Policy Studies, which you know is a hard left pseudo think tank. And it goes on and on and on and these are the organizations, I encourage you read this. We will link to this on MarkLevinShow.com. Much of the information in this report is information that I and others I worked with at the time uncovered, when I went through the contracts and I went through the grants and I went through the boxes and I went through the files and I said “MY GOD, WE’RE FUNDING A COUNTER REVOLUTION.”

And we’re all supposed to pretend that “Oh, what a historic moment, what an experienced president, giving us hope and change.” Oh, Saul Alinsky, he is smiling, from his grave, and he should be damned, but from his grave he’s smiling. He’s thinking, “Look what I’ve created. Isn’t it magnificent?” And still, most of the American people don’t even know what’s happening to them.

Norman Thomas, the grandfather of Evan Thomas, one of the editors over there at Newsweek, six time U.S. Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America in a 1948 interview during the Presidential campaign, he said, “The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” May I repeat that. Norman Thomas, six time U.S. Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America, 1948, “The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

A few years ago, the wonderful group that I am blessed and honored to be president of, Landmark Legal Foundation, which has been around since 1976, one of the first Conservative legal foundations, and there are really only a handful of us to fight the hoards of leftwing groups and legal groups, I had the honor of litigating against the Environmental Protection Agency.

We had filed a Freedom of Information Act with the Environmental Protection Agency near the end of the Clinton administration. They were, in the closing days of that administration, pushing out regulation after regulation that they otherwise would not have issued in hopes of, really in a very dastardly way, destroying industry after industry with junk science.

So we filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the EPA asking about all these regulations, and who spoke to whom, and how they were started going back to September before the Clinton folks exited. At the time, the administrator of the EPA was none other than Carol Browner, the current Special Counsel to the President for Environment and Energy. A self-confessed socialist, are we allowed to use that word?, although she’s now pulled that off the various websites. And I personally went into Federal Court on behalf of Landmark and argued in front of a great Federal District Judge, Royce Lamberth, and I said, “Your honor, it’s January 19th. The Clinton administration will be gone in one day. I do not believe they are securing the information we seek. I believe they are concealing it and maybe even destroying it, I do not have evidence, but they haven’t provided us with the information we’ve requested since September.”

The judge, at our request, and by the way, the assistant U.S. Attorney objected, issued an order that the Environmental Protection Agency was to protect those documents, all records, whatever form, electronic, hard copy, so forth. And when we come back I will explain to you what happened, because you need to know exactly what we’re dealing with and who we’re dealing with, and I have bloody knuckles, so to speak, in dealing with them. We’ll be right back.

All right, so we did some discovery. We deposed some people, the former general counsel for the Environmental Protection Agency, the former deputy administrator, other people who had served in the EPA under Carol Browner, we deposed Carol Browner.

As it turned out, the EPA had in fact destroyed an enormous amount if information. Their back-up servers, the servers that collect the e-mail information, were cleansed every 60 days. So, as I argued to Judge Lamberth, that means every single day from that order they were in violation of the order. Documents had been destroyed, computer discs had been cleaned. We filed to hold the agency in contempt, and it was held in contempt, and they were required to fix their systems.

But I’m telling you all this so you can understand my dealings with these people, whether it’s at the Action Agency or the Environmental Protection Agency. THEY PLAY FOR KEEPS AND SO MUST WE. I’ll be right back.
