We thought St. Louis liked Barack Obama, but the audio tells a different tale. Much different.
We're not sure what the unemployment rate is in the city (it is 9.7% nationally), but from the sounds of things, it might be relatively higher in Missouri than in other parts of the USA.
What makes this reaction so shocking is that St. Louis was one of the crucial urban centers which Obama carried in 2008 that enabled him to closely contest the state of Missouri against John McCain.
Obama won only about five counties in the entire state, but one was St. Louis' Independent City.
Further, St. Louis was the site of the president's largest domestic campaign rally, drawing and estimated 100,000 gatherers.
It appears that James Carville's "It's the economy, stupid" pronouncement is as prophetic as ever. As the nation struggles to regain its financial footing, it appears the skeptics have found their collective voice.
Here's Politico's write-up of the First Pitch ceremony:
"Obama's first pitch a success"
Elections has consequences fools!
I would not say Resoundly booed, but more than he was expecting. I refused to watch the game because the American Idol president was going to be there.
So no cheers at all that I could hear. Did he bounce the pitch? I am guessing because the catch wasn’t shown.
it helps when you have a massive vote fraud / absentee ballot fraud machine.
The boos reflect reality; the votes reflect balot manipulation skill.
Next year he will be lucky if the fans aren’t throwing beer bottles at him...
Rush is so right... it’s a shame when Fox news is going to bat for the Pres.
Watch it from a diff angle.. doesn’t make the plate!
Don’t mis-read this.
What’s the chance that attendees at a baseball game necessarily live in the immediate vicinity of the stadium?
Here in Cleveland, most attendees of an Indians game are suburban or even exurban. The inner city types (overwhelmingly Democrats) cannot affor the ticke price.
“I would not say Resoundly booed...”
I would. I didn’t even have to turn up the volume
“Next year he will be lucky if the fans arent throwing beer bottles at him...”
How about vials full of holy water — he might melt.
Or worse
bttt
I’m sure there were few Obama voters at the game.
Dead people can’t boo.........
The catcher was squating on the plate rather than behind it and still had to lean forward to catch it. It looked to be about a 57 or 58 foot pitch. And that was after a high, arcing throw that had no speed on it.
Girly man pitch...also he can’t bowl over 35. No way this guy is a good basketball player.

Yep — remember that outrageously huge crowd in St. Louis near that ‘arch’ last fall when zero made an appearance. Must’ve taken a LOT of buses to get them all there!!!
Compare Obama’s “pitch” to the pitch of George W. Bush at Yankee Stadium in the 2001 World Series.
