AARP Loses at Least 60,000 Members Due to Support for Obamacare
USA Today/The_lid ^ | 8/18/09 | The Lid

Now we understand why the AARP made the statement last week that it has not endorsed the Obamacare plans. After months of working toward the passage of the bill (which it is still doing, but more "quietly") The AARP,which is run by liberals who favor national health car has been backing away from support for Obamacare. By acting as an advocate of the President's plan AARP has proven itself to be out of touch with its own members. Those seniors have figured out that their own health and lives are at stake in this debate over Obamacare. They know that when medical discretion clashes with limited government budgets, medicine loses, and that's why at least 60,000 members have quit since July 1:

That’s not a criticism of TYWL, it’s just the problem with GoogleAds.

No, TYWL could request that those ads not appear on the site.

I think amnesty can be framed in a “cutting in line in front of others” sort of way. People have jumped through hoops and filled out paper work and waited years to come legally...these others essentially assert a right just because they crashed the line. EVERYBODY can understand someone taking cuts as unfair. We must think of ways to frame all of our issues the way Palin did with “death Panels”.

[the next AARP ‘return postage prepaid’ envelope will be sent back full of gravel]

That will be more supportive of the USPS than 'y0u kn0w wh0.

[instead of gravel, just send back their mailing]

I have known for years they were schilling for the left, at least since the days of HillaryCare.

I think I will join, just so I can have the pleasure of canceling. No sense letting a little thing like not belonging force me to fail to enjoy missing the fun of calling them up and dropping my membership!

Yeah, but they only get kicked out by the automatic machine thingys, if they get that far.

Had a neighbor who spent an inordinate amount of his time finding and cutting roofing shingles to fit into the postage paid envelopes. He was paid a visit (small town) and was told... stop it, they don't get mailed.

The "idea" is to use the PP envelope and charge back to the offending sender isn't it? Just stuff their crap, as much as possible, back in and leave it at that.

[Of course, abide by all regulations too.]

Your idea would relieve a lot of stress. It's an easy way for us to ease the strain on HCare and also help the USPS compete with FedEx and UPS!

You could be a Czar!

AARP’s position on the 2nd amendment was enough to keep me from ever joining in the first place. I hope they cease to exist.

60,000 is a start, but it represents about 0.0017 percent of the 35 million members. Never interested in joining, myself.

"The zero’s friend over at AARP is going to be asking for a bailout soon if membership continues to drop."

Then WE THE TAXPAYERS tell them to all go straight to the lowest depths of HELL.

Instead of joining, just send back the paperwork without any money. Then they’ll send gobs more to get you to pay up, and you to can support the United States Post Office while costing AARP even more money.

Is it okay if I stuff *all* the junk mail I get into them, then?

Who knows?
They might *want* 3 free months of HBO, free Brazilian wax coupons or insurance quotes from GEICO.

[then I can be a Czarina!]

If you get the free intro to origami lessons, you can do more. I try to shuffle the content so they don't get their stuff back (even though I know it goes to a sorting area, and probably don't see it, they still pay the postage).

[then I can be a Czarina!]

It's the intertubes so you may be anything you desire, hopefully within reason and I apologize for not being gender knowledgeable.

As a I try to be a gentleman, I bow to a Czarina. Rule well, evenly and with grace.

(lay off the gravel though, we gotta pay for the repairs) :)

LOL!

As Czarina, I will rule both benevolently and wisely.

My first act will be to deport all the liberals to that oh-so Utopian land, Mother Russia.

[please hold your applause...I’m just winding up]...LOL!

From article:
“that’s why at least 60,000 members have quit since July 1”

And that is misleading.

That tally omits the hundreds of thousands who never joined in the first place or quit years ago due to the allegiances of AARP.
