Say Uncle, Mr. President

It’ll take President Barack Obama more than a couple of town hall appearances to get his health care reform proposals back on track because health care isn’t the only thing that needs tweaking—he needs someone on the team to help him figure out how to get his mojo back.

Obama has aides for every occasion: Senior adviser Valerie Jarrett is his liaison to big business; Defense Secretary Bob Gates keeps him on the good foot with the military; Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel patrols Capitol Hill; TARP Czar Elizabeth Warren explains the unexplainable.

What’s missing from the president’s brain trust is a wise, old uncle. He needs someone who’s witnessed the last 50 years of American history from the ground level—a “wise Latino,” if you will.

Someone in the inner circle needs to have the green light to pull the president’s coat on any new proposal and ask him, “Are you kidding me?”

Seems to be saying the president needs a wise, old, battle-scarred, pragmatic, graybeard adviser, but ain't that just the type Alinsky and Ayers and Uncle Frank taught him to surreptitiously hate?

The President brings his own crowd to his staged events. I think I read last week that Michelle had 400 with her on a ride on the rapids.

Real wisdom comes from God and you have to ask for it to get it.

This is his Bush moment. Except Bush had the sane percentage of the population who WANTED desperately to support him. Obama has the insane portion as his base. Anything seemingly rational he may want to do, if at all there is anything, will be viewed by them as defection and turning his back on the dream of living in East Germany circa 1955ish. He’s in a tough spot. I like it.

Before checking out on Saturday morning to head to Yellowstone National Park, Obama and Michelle exercised together. The president had specially requested an elliptical machine, Schieffer said.
“The President likes the elliptical,” he said.

Hello this is Yellowstone. Their are hiking/jogging trails with wonderful views, fresh air, etc.

The “demonize” Onadacare opponents is in full swing. My local paper ran six “letters to the editor” today. Four of them were pro-Obamacare. The theme in each one is that Conservatives hate. They pointed to Onada signs with Hitler moustaches, weapons being brought to town meetings, a sign that allegedly read “Michelle and her stupid kids should be killed” as evidence of their point—and so forth. And, of course, we’ve been hearing from dem pols, and their media shills, for two weeks that conservatives want Onada dead.

We now know that the “joker” poster of Onada was perpetrated by a Demrat. And we know there is absolutely no proof of any conservative wanting Onada or his wife/kids dead. For all we know all these inappropriate signs are simply the work of demrat operatives. Conservatives understand that killing Onada or his family would make a martyr of him. That is the last thing we want.

I live in NJ. Are freepers in other states seeing similar “demonize conservative” campaigns?

I don't know if it works quite as effectively as it used to. Ofcourse, the Northeastern quadrant of the country has been reared on the idea that republicans are evil so turning them around isn't an easy task.

No one reads newspapers anymore, really. Sean Hannity and Bill O'reilly's ratings are off the charts. People rely more and more on the internet for their news or commentary.

So does this mean bringing Vice-President Cheney back?

What a picture!
