Obama headed for a Lyndon Johnson type failed presidency?

As the United States goes deeper into debt, the question has begun to arise about whether Obama will be a failed, one-time president. With spending that is projected to reach deficits of $1.8 trillion this year and $1.3 next year, the debt is expected to spiral to $10 trillion over the next decade.

The comparisons are being made between Lyndon Baines Johnson and Obama. Johnson tried to implement the Great Society and continue the Vietnam War at the same time. Johnson's reckless ambition eventually cost him any opportunity for re-election and he decided not to run again.

Watch Hillary to begin to lose weight. If she does it will indicate her future intentions.

Hillary is incapable of making a Palin-like decision.

He should set a new record... one where someone finally figures out what a fraud he is, grows a pair and does something about it, and impeaches this tard before he passes his first budget.

I'm hoping, working for, and praying that he is a failed one-half term president. Who is completely neutered in 2010 and rendered absolutely and completely impotent by an overwhelming majority against him in the house and senate that over turns every policy he has attempted, and then keeps him from implementing any more.

Even if he is, he can do the dirty deed of “health care reform” as a legacy just as Johnson did with “the great society”. Even though it has not solved poverty, he is glorified for it and it helped keep dems in power for a long time. Even though Johnson has been shown to be a royal jerk in personal and public life, he is an icon for enablers like Doris k Goodwin.

Speaking of bank accounts, what do you want to bet that the IRS breach of Swiss Banking Laws (secrecy) is going to litter the political landscape with wounded US politicians? Wouldn’t suprise me if Slick & Hillary were among the first casualties.

IMNSHO, these ‘big time’ pols are on the same page as Rush.
If OB etal fail, MY status goes UP and the longer it takes, the better the masses see what is happening.
If there were any ‘justice’ or at least a sprinkling of pride in USofA, Clinton, in all his popularity etc would be railing against the OB administration, not sitting back waiting for it to implode so he (THEY) can pick up the pieces.
Like the man says, FOLLOW THE MONEY.

I have always said that LBJ’s pursuit of these two basically contradictory goals was a classic example of a schizophrenic Presidency: much like a global acting-out of two contradictory objectives that “needed” each other to attain psychological “balance”. OTOneHand: The Great Society/War on Poverty basically code for ameliorating the African-American Condition, Inner City Despair, etc., and OTOH, at the same time, inviting Blacks to join the military in fighting the Red Menace in Vietnam. Blacks who wound up in Vietnam were WAY out of proportion to their actual numbers in the civilian population: more than 2 to 1. I was there in 1966, I know. LBJ’s equation could be seen as an early expression of the kind of nascent White Guilt that this new President counts on as his cornerstone for success. Inevitably, they both FAIL.

We already have an $11.9 trillion debt because we couldn't afford all the previous liberal programs. President Obama is trying to double down with at least another $10 trillion with the illusion of big returns so nobody will notice we can't really afford liberalism run amock.

I understand since Carter that many Libtards want the USA to fail but I am still astonished that most of them also do.

Pubbies need to be careful over-hyping that idea [failed one-termer] at this time.

Clinton seemed to be heading for a one-term presidency in his early years. Yet, he managed to pull out a win in ‘96, thanks in part to Perot’s 3rd party, but mostly to the GOP’s stellar nominee.

“one-time president”

Should be “one term”. The editor missed this.

Good observation. I noticed that Hillary put on a lot of weight as well.

That's true - to a certain extent. The Great Society was obviously a disaster, but the Dems have always defended it because it introduced the Federal government into a lot of formerly state or locally controlled areas and gave them much more power over the states.

The health care plan would give the Federal government enormous control over individual lives and make it intrusive in a way far beyond anything we have ever seen here before. I'm not sure that this is going to be a legacy any party would want.

If he does get it through, it's going to be massively unpopular and I think you'll see a lot of states and individuals rebelling against it. There are already a couple of states that are planning on refusing to be part of it and challenge it in court if it passes.

The bad thing, however, is that if he does get it through, even if people hate the program, it's going to be very hard and costly to get rid of it.
