Reformists to use last Friday of Ramadan, which marks annual Palestinian support rallies in Tehran, to protest against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's regime, including transfer of financial aid to Palestinians in 'disregard for the Iranian people's money' according to the report, supporters of reformist Mir-Hossein Mousavi used the social network Facebook and other online forums to urged people to attend the annual Palestinian support rallies, but this time, instead of calling out, "Death to America and Israel" to shout out, "Death to the dictator", in reference to Ahmadinejad.
Protestors also plan to express their objection to the financial aid Iran grants to the Palestinians, which they view as "disregard for the Iranian people's money."

i fear for iranian protestors
It is very descriptive of a regime that is more concerned about Arab “Palestinians” than about Iranians and would drag the latter down into chaos and disaster only to prove a point about “Palestinians”. Unsurprisingly they use “Palestinian” mercenaries to oppress Iranians (Let’s not forget that many of the terrorists of 1979 were trained in PLO camps in Lybia. ).
The entire islamic regime can resettle to Gaza and be with their true clientele.
Thanks for the ping. I read about this yesterday at the Guardian. One of the commentors said when he was in Iran he talked to people about the Arab/Israeli conflict, and people told him “we don’t support the Palestinians, the government does.”
...instead of calling out, "Death to America and Israel" to shout out, "Death to the dictator", in reference to Ahmadinejad.Talk is cheap.
Protestors also plan to express their objection to the financial aid Iran grants to the Palestinians, which they view as "disregard for the Iranian people's money."
Talk IS cheap, agreed. Especially when there has not been any support from elsewhere to turn talk into a more firm action & result.
Many Iranians, I think, have never been OK with IRI’s provision of funds to terrorists or otherwise, such as Palestinians, or otherwise. Perhaps, this is the first time they (Iranians) are willing to publicly voice their discontent about such matters.
Persians ALWAYS protest on Qods Day, but there will be no lines of opposition. It’s a time honored religious protest day in fact, it’s not a protest day at all-the hezbollah to whom this article is referring to in one way or another -— the hezbollah will be out in full force for another nice sunny day in Teheran in case the Opposition Forces show up
I've no doubt you're correct. I add it won't be just the hezbollah...
The Hezbollah will arrive along w/the local cadres of ultra-conservative rabble rousers to beat up people to incite and foment. WackJob has been treading water and skating on thin ice prior to the most elections as unemployment is way high and his voter base is being pinched beyond what you or I could possibly imagine
You’re well informed.
WackJob never really had a traditional nor meaningful “voter base”. Confusing terms as they are, most “Traditional Conservatives” are different to the WhackJob’s “voters”. Complex politics & society in Iran.
“skating on thin ice...” Maybe the WackJob will break a neck instead of a leg, eventually, well, hopefully soon ..
here’s another little nugget- WackJob bought a lot of his supporters inside and outside of Teheran by distributing food staples such as potatoes for disenfranchised villagers . It’s just a small example of how he originally came to power but that was his modus operandi; it’s backfired and kicked his a$$ because now there are no potatoes to be had.
True.
With Zero in the White House, the Russians selling and giving the mullahs nuke and missile help, and Turkey turning Islamofascist, it will be up to the Iranians to free themselves.
After 30 years (nothing much changed), what you say is probably a very good conclusion.
IMHO petroleum inventories will rise through the winter, and world demand will decline. US imports have fallen since a year ago, so have US exports; US production has risen. Having inventories on the market, already pumped up, will build a cushion for whatever kind of war happens. If Iran guesses the same, it’ll start a war soon (maybe within the month), via proxies, against Israel.
IMHO, I don’t think IRI will start a war with Israel, at least not directly in months to come. IRI will not nuke Israel. It isn’t in IRI’s interests (despite rhetoric). IRI is more afraid internally.
Economically, the world is connected now not necessarily country-based at this stage. Although countries are becoming much more internally focused.
Iranian politics is, in parts, unpredictable, more so than those of the West. Dunno, will remain to be seen... I dislike the IRI, but IRI and its key players are not exactly nutcases. Don’t underestimate.
Thanks!
