Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill Calls for Rationing of Motorized Wheelchairs through Medicare - Video

Here is a video report on calls by Missouri Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill to cut back on providing motorized wheelchairs to people through Medicare. She was citing this as a place to save money and reduce Health Care costs.

Here is a perfect example of how the Democrats' Government Health Care would inevitably result in rationing of care. It has not even passed, and McCaskill is already talking about what the Government can get rid of in order to pay for their massive plan.

What do you think will happen once it passes? . . . (VIDEO)

I’m telling you, I’ve personally faced an audience of pissed-off seniors, trying to explain to them about Medicare Part D......you don’t want these people mad at you. One of my colleagues was actually chased to her car, and they were beating on her windows until she drove away.

This is an episode of Seinfeld, isn’t it?

This is a subject that I understand very well. The Sen may be correct in a couple points. Medicare fraud, in particular relating to power wheelchairs, is off the map it is so bad. Something needs to be done, and should have been done years ago. Granny, and GrandPa buy have Medicare buy these very expensive wc’s and then sell the for pennies on the dollar, in many cases back to the place they purchased them.

Let them eat beans...

(...then they can self-propel their regular wheelchairs)

just wanted to sit in her wheelchair and take it easy.” - George Costanza - “The Handicap Spot”

The democrats say they will not ration? Hah, Claire is already calling for it. Strip the handicapped of the means to have a better life.

My mother needs one of these. Without it, she would never be able to go anywhere.

My parents were blessed with the means to afford one, but there are many who do not have the means.

The RATs can use our money to gives banks, big unions and ACORN billions of dollars.

But they want to cut back on the handicapped?

How can anyone with a damn half a brain support these crumbums?

Medicare fraud, in particular relating to power wheelchairs, is off the map it is so bad.

The fraud, wherever it is in government, should be investigated - not deny people the ability to get around because the government is loosing our money because of the ineptness and laziness to investigate and fix problems in Medicare.

Which of course is why the govt should never have become involved in anyone’s health care.

Then money can be saved by reducing fraud, waste, and abuse. FWA are the responsibility of the agency to monitor and remediate, not Congress. You don’t prevent FWA by rationing back to the consumer.

I firmly believe that a majority of the chairs, paid for by out tax dollars, from companies like "The Skooter Store", are fraudlent. They couldn't stay in business with the guarentee that "you will not have to pay anything for your chair" unless they were scamming the system.

She may have worded it wrong, but I believe that every single one of the "official" Medicare suppliers needs to be investigated.

Maybe the government needs George to help them purchase wheelchairs:

*****************************

Salesman: This is out best model. The Cougar 9000. It’s the Rolls Royce of wheelchairs. This is like... you’re almost glad to be handicapped.

George: How much?

Salesman: 6200.

George: Do you have something a little ... less expensive?

Salesman: Alright, this one is about 8 years old. Not a scratch on it, it was owned by some lady who only used it to go from the bathroom to the kitchen and to feed her cat.

George: How much?

Salesman: How about $240?

George & Kramer: We’ll take it!

OK all you wimpy elderly invalids, no more cheap motivation on Uncle Sam's dime, learn to walk or crawl around on your belly whichever you want but President Obama is NOT paying for your comfort any more!

I keep telling my wife that government health care will be like dealing with the IRS and DMV. There will be no compassion or common sense allowed. There are no shades of gray in a system that is rigid and impersonal.

I don't see her issue with these scooters. I see people in Walmart riding them around all the time and they seem to provide a necessary service.

If she really wanted to save money for Medicare, she would end the rental programs that these scooter makers have tapped into. The rental rates far exceed the purchase price very quickly.

I'm sorry, but I always become infuriated when the little ole granma on those scooter store TV ads proudly proclaims she got it “at no cost to me!” Yeah, lady, we'll pay for it, no problem.
