Maglev Washing Machine Cuts Water Usage

The Maglev Washing Machine designed by Jakub Lekes completely redesigns the household standard of clothing cleaning by using construction similar to that of a Maglev train. Rather than your traditional spinning drum, the Maglev machine uses a spherical drum held in place by a series of electromagnets. One set of electromagnets keeps the drum levitating within the body of the machine, while a second set induces movement, allowing the drum to spin in all directions. Since the drum never actually contacts the body, there is far less noise than the average machine that can often sound like an 18-wheeler running through your basement. The design is said to cut water and powdered detergent usage while getting your clothes cleaner.

Looks cool, but as a pragmatic sort of guy I have to ask: where the heck is the plumbing?

Or does it come with that mannekin slave in pic #3 who totes the water to the machine in a bucket?

This is just a conceptual design. No machine like this exists.

It’s really pretty easy to come up with cool looking conceptual designs. Making an actual machine? That’s a little harder.

Saves water and detergent. Uses a crapload of electricity.

Is it cheaper than the laundromat?

I wonder what happens if the power goes out. The rotating drum is suspended by electromagnets. It might sound as if a train was going thru the whole house.

Maybe they're planning on incorporating Star Trek's replicator or transporter technologies.
That sure would be a cool way to make plumbing obsolete!!!

Moonbat graphic artists envision disgraced Republican voters dressed in tatters toting water to and from the high-tech dream machine.

Maglev Washing Machine Cuts Water Usage

I have a much cheaper way, I just wear all cloths two and three times before washing.

Therefore, I have reduced my water usage 50-75%! Add to that I only bath once a week, I'm really green!

Of course, since the wife lives with me, I can only practice water conservation when I'm camping or hunting :-)

I would imagine that, in a real machine, there would also be a set of permanent magnets that could hold the drum in a power-outage situation.

If that were the case, it would be cheaper to operate using the permanent magnets.
I have used large electric drill motors that were held on the metal by a large electromagnet base.It was a very bad situation if the electric cord was unplugged while the drill was in use.

Sounds like they want to use Readen Metal for golf clubs and washing machines instead of trains, tracks and equipment that will change the world...

Your Doctor can give you a prescription for that.

My adult offspring have these fancy new washers and dryers.
They promise monumental energy savings.
They are as reliable as a 68 Fiat.
They spend 3X on repairs what is saved on energy.
I’m on a mission to keep the 20 yr old Maytags around til wife and I croak.

Yeah... I remember those.
Mussolini Motors produced a lot of crap when they outsourced production to the Third World.
We never should have allowed those things to cross over our border.

Powder..patch..ball FIRE!

Hey, hey... don’t talk about the old 72 Fiat Spyder that I had.

As long as I kept the head gasket tight, the electrical relays wired closed, and the carbs tuned I had a pocket rocket for a ride...lol.
