NY23 UPDATE: Why is Sarah MIA?
The Other Mccain ^ | Oct. 17, 2009 | R.S. McCain

Posted on 10/17/2009 6:24:51 PM PDT by Al B.

Sarah Palin could make a huge difference in the NY23 special election, and everybody knows it. I hinted at this earlier today -- "Lipstick, baby!" -- and as I like to remind my readers from time to time, there are no accidents.

Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman is in the fight of his life against the GOP establishment's hand-picked RINO, in a crucial election that Hoffman's media coordinator Rob Ryan says is "a referendum on the future of the Republican Party."

One point to make clear: No official in the Hoffman campaign has said a word to me about Sarah Palin. But some of Hoffman's supporters are heartbroken that Sarah -- whom I dubbed the "Sweetheart of the Heartland" last year -- hasn't joined the fight against Dede Scozzafava, whom Michelle Malkin has described as "ACORN-Friendly, Big Labor-Backing, Tax-and-Spend Radical in GOP Clothing." Allow me to address myself directly to Mrs. Palin:

Doug Hoffman is your kind of candidate, his supporters are your supporters, and the people at the RNC and the NRCC who are siding with Scozzafava . . . well, ask around, ma'am. Your enemies are Doug Hoffman's enemies.

{I’m telling you, people forget fast. Don’t rule out they give up on her and never get back the fire in their belly.}

The recent 2012 GOP primary poll by Rasmussen Reports shows that Huckabee is picking up Palin support. Granted its early and primary polls could easily change. Remember back in 2005, people were debating between Giuliani, Condi, and George Allen.

That same poll showed that all three of these people had between 75% and 79% approval among Republicans. No other Republican was even close. Republicans aren't "forgetting" Sarah Palin.

She's been publicly invisible for 3 1/2 months and some Republicans think she's not gonna run in 2012. Her invisibility is about to change.

Too soon She has to pick her fights if she wants to get elected president she needs the Republican Party Unless you want her to go third party which there may be one if the Republicans don’t shape up. Right Now the Republican party is full of RINOS this is one race next year there will be lots of races to make her voice be heard. If she doesn’t then maybe she does not want to be President Right now you need to find out who is running in your district and support the conservative now and talk to your neighbors about them because the message is not going to get through the media! and maybe not the by the Republican party either

Key quote from article: “No official in the Hoffman campaign has said a word to me about Sarah Palin.”

If Hoffman wants the job he needs to run a great campaign. There should be no jabs taken at Sarah for this.

The least Palin could do is have Sarah PAC give money to Hoffman.

I agree. May have already happened and we wouldn't know about it 'til January.

I do agree that a facebook post would be in order if she's so inclined.

Some things you may not know about Palin:

What A Fisherman Says About Sarah Palin
by Dewie Whetsell, Alaskan Fisherman

As posted in comments on Greta Van Susteren’s article referencing the MoveOn.org ad about Sarah Palin.

The last 45 of my 66 years I’ve spent in a commercial fishing town in Alaska. I understand Alaska politics but never understood national politics well until this last year. Here’s the breaking point: Neither side of the Palin controversy gets it. It’s not about persona, style, rhetoric, it’s about doing things. Even Palin supporters never mention the things that I’m about to mention here.

1- Democrats forget when Palin was the Darling of the Democrats, because as soon as Palin took the Governor’s office away from a fellow Republican and tough SOB, Frank Murkowski, she tore into the Republican’s “Corrupt Bastards Club” (CBC) and sent them packing. Many of them are now residing in State housing and wearing orange jump suits. The Democrats reacted by skipping around the yard, throwing confetti and singing “la la la la” (well, you know how they are). Name another governor in this country that has ever done anything similar. But while you’re thinking, I’ll continue.

2- Now with the CBC gone, there were fewer Alaskan politicians to protect the huge, giant oil companies here. So, she constructed and enacted a new system of splitting the oil profits called “ACES”. Exxon (the biggest corporation in the world) protested and Sarah told them “don’t let the door hit you in the stern on your way out.” They stayed, and Alaska residents went from being merely wealthy to being filthy rich. Of course the other huge international oil companies meekly fell in line. Again, give me the name of any other governor in the country that has done anything similar.

3- The other thing she did when she walked into the governor’s office is she got the list of State requests for federal funding for projects, known as “pork”. She went through the list, took 85% of them and placed them in the “when-hell-freezes-over” stack. She let locals know that if we need something built, we’ll pay for it ourselves. Maybe she figured she could use the money she got from selling the previous governor’s jet because it was extravagant. Maybe she could use the money she saved by dismissing the governor’s cook (remarking that she could cook for her own family), giving back the State vehicle issued to her, maintaining that she already had a car, and dismissing her State provided security force (never mentioning-I imagine-that she’s packing heat herself). I’m still waiting to hear the names of those other governors.

4- Now, even with her much-ridiculed “gosh and golly” mannerism, she also managed to put together a totally new approach to getting a natural gas pipeline built which will be the biggest private construction project in the history of North America. No one else could do it although they tried. If that doesn’t impress you, then you’re trying too hard to be unimpressed while watching her do things like this while baking up a batch of brownies with her other hand.

5- For 30 years, Exxon held a lease to do exploratory drilling at a place called Point Thompson. They made excuses the entire time why they couldn’t start drilling. In truth they were holding it like an investment. No governor for 30 years could make them get started. This summer, she told them she was revoking their lease and kicking them out. They protested and threatened court action. She shrugged and reminded them that she knew the way to the court house. Alaska won again.

6- President Obama wants the nation to be on 25% renewable resources for electricity by 2025. Sarah went to the legislature and submitted her plan for Alaska to be at 50% renewable by 2025. We are already at 25%. I can give you more specifics about things done, as opposed to style and persona . Everybody wants to be cool, sound cool, look cool. But that’s just a cover-up. I’m still waiting to hear from liberals the names of other governors who can match what mine has done in two and a half years. I won’t be holding my breath.

By the way, she was content to return to AK after the national election and go to work, but the haters wouldn’t let her. Now these adolescent screechers are obviously not scuba divers.. And no one ever told them what happens when you continually jab and pester a barracuda. Without warning, it will spin around and tear your face off. Shoulda known better.

I am in the energy business and I support Sarah Palin.

All of those pundits supposedly with Palin’s best interests at heart, advising her to lay low and study up before speaking out nationally again are now faulting her for being off center stage while she was working on her book. (And yes, her poor PR team hasn’t helped the cause.)

But look out, I can’t wait to hear her directly when she starts her book tour next month!

Just a thought... Maybe Hoffmann doesn't WANT her to campaign for him? If he wants her help, he can ask for it. Even a superhero usually needs to be called, right?

If Hoffmann is interested in her support, I'm sure she would give it. We don't know all the dynamics behind each and every campaign. To conclude that Palin wouldn't want to support Hoffmann because he hasn't the R is speculative and disingenous. She has said before that she doesn't care for Party label.

Someone posted this question on another thread. I just realized I should have put my answer over here as well.

I think the answer there is that no Republican with any ambition for national elected office will endorse anyone in this race. The race is really radioactive to Republicans.

If you endorse someone and they don’t win the election, you have hurt your own political viability. And, endorsing someone outside your party, even if they win the election, such an endorsement isn’t really helpful to your future political career.

The leadership of the RCCC and the House leadership have screwed up with this candidate. They have doubled down with an all-in move rather than falling on their swords in disgrace for allowing this candidate to run as a R (I call Scozzafava a big “R” democRat).

The vetting process failed. Blaming it on staffers as Sessions and others in the RCCC have tried to do just points to a management problems. This is not a decision that should have been delegated to staffers. The problem isn’t the staffer, it is the person who delegated this to the staffer.

Fred Thompson obviously has no future plans politically. So his endorsement was available. Newt has been mentioned as a potential candidate in 2012, but I don’t think he really wanted to do that. I think his endorsement this week was a confirmation that he doesn’t care to run in 2012.

I don’t think that Sarah Palin is ready to take that jump. It would be a bold move, but there really isn’t an upside for Palin. Hoffman would benefit greatly, but Palin wouldn’t get much if he wins, and would accomplish nothing if Hoffman failed with her endorsement.

There is only one other Republican that I can think of who might make an endorsement in this race, and if he does, it would be really big news. He also is closer to Hoffman's positions on the issues than anyone else. His name is John McHugh, and he was elected to this very seat last year by over 65% of the voters in his district. He would have local credibility well beyond any of the “celebrity” endorsements from national figures.

Please, send Hoffman a donation. I wish we would get behind him as strongly as we got behind Joe Wilson last month.

Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.

Scozzafava also holds these positions:

Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.

This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” democRat.

There are also 17 RINOs in the house who have donated funds to this Liberal democRat's campaign. They include Boehner and Cantor. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These RINOs should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year.

She was not "allowed". She was handpicked. They could have chosen Doug Hoffman but apparently believed an ACORN-Planned Parenthood candidate fit with the GOP philosophy better. The local GOP or whomever needs to be replaced ASAP.

Does she want to be a serious candidate or a wall flower?”

Groan!
For your information, Sarah Plain has done more to fight 0bamacare, and other lunatic 0bama policies, and had more effect, with her Op Ed's in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and on her Facebook page, than any other Republican politician has in the past few months.
Wallflower huh? You don't know what a wall flower is.

She has done some things but then again the Republicans in general have not done enough to offer alternatives.
But in the long run what does it matter the War against Left-Wing Socialism was lost long ago and all we can do is win a small victory here and there.
I have lost all confidence in Congress and Government, it has become a vast corrupt cesspool on both sides of the aisle and poor Sarah Palin can't do much about it anymore than any other person can.
You might as well face the fact that the Democrats are going to ram a Health Reform Bill down out throats whether we like it or not and will fall on their swords to do it even if it means big losses in Congress next year.
When the next massive financial crisis hits, soon I think, it won't matter because finally the Congress will be forced to balance the budget to the detriment of all entitlement programs.
My advice arm yourself and put some money away for a rainy day.
