The divide grows deeper every day, both sides seething with contempt and even hatred for the other side. No good can come from this. In my more benevolent moods, I sometimes find myself seeking a more radical approach to coping with the next 3+ years. I offer these suggestions, which I myself have decided to try:
- Pray for Obama.
Pray--not only that he will not carry out his socialist agenda, but that he will do the right thing. Pray that he will not only do the right thing, but that he will be an extraordinarily good president. Pray that he will in fact, at the end of his term or terms, have been one of the greatest presidents our republic has ever had.
- Start a Re-elect Obama campaign.
What am I--nuts? No. How it works is this:
A non-profit organization would be created to collect funds for the election of whatever politician acts according to the goals set by us. We lay out a set of rules: No government health care. No Cap and Trade. No immigration reform. Enforce the existing immigration laws. Roll back tax increases. Cut spending. Allow oil drilling in the US and offshore. Allow new nuclear plants to be built. Etc. Collect a lot of money, with the understanding that it will go to whichever presidential candidate comes closest to fulfilling those tasks. If that candidate happens to be Obama, so much the better. It will prove that miracles can happen.
The only problem with this is that inevitably there would be massive disagreement over who should get the money. This is why the conditions should be laid out very specifically. The only congressional votes that count are the final votes. Congressmen weasel out of commitments by citing that they voted for something in committee, but their final vote was just the opposite. For the President, it's either sign or veto a bill.
- Become a citizen lobbyist.
We get a lawyer to draw up a contract which will be an agreement between a voter and a politician. The contract will state the wishes of the citizen, and a promise to pay x amount if he fulfills that wish. For someone who is merely seeking but not yet holding office, there would be a small up-front contribution, with the understanding that another x amount will follow if he wins office and meets the terms of the contract. Again, the conditions for meeting the requirements would be very objectively laid out, with the final votes being the only ones that count.
This would help to wean politicians from the influence of Washington lobbyists. I'm always amazed at the piddling amounts needed to buy off a politician. A mere $50,000 contribution can yield hundreds of millions to the donor.
- Instead of talking about what Obama is doing wrong, focus on what he should be doing.
Create a clear picture of how a good president acts. Send ideas and good wishes, along with positive suggestions. Be good natured, good humored, and strong--in other words, Reaganesque.
- Continue to contact senators and representatives
Tell them what you would like them to do. Be positive and friendly, but inform them that you will support their opponent if they do not vote according to your request.
- Clean up your own life.
Act according to the principles you extoll. Be a shining example of what you want everyone else to be.
- Pray for our country.
Pray--not only that we will survive the next three to seven years, but that we may get through this experience as a stronger nation and better people.
I think Obama is a puppet, so even if he had a change of heart, it wouldn’t change as much as people think it would.
This is a joke, right?
I’m still trying to take all of this in. Praying for ones enemies is a Christian thing to do. Praying they don’t follow through with unethical practices (excessive taxation, illegal distributions to non-working peoples, sectors, industries and just plain government waste) is a good thing as well. I’m still pondering this through.

That's what I ask, every time I hear about the latest stunt Obama is trying to pull. We live in desperate times.
I don’t agree with all of this guys’ suggestions but praying for Obama - albeit in a certain way - is a good thing.
You can pray that his eyes are opened and he does what is right. We pray for this because if he continues to do the wrong things, we all will suffer, our troops will suffer, other people we know and love will suffer. We pray he starts doing the right things and abandons all the wrong things he believes and does and wants to do.
We can also pray that if he continues to not do the right things, that God removes Him in any number of ways. That he will be defeated politically, and even if it gets bad enough, well, you figure it out. Because that will be the only way left to give people relief from him and the wrongness he is doing, with no intention of stopping.
My God man, are you high on hopium ?
He is. But in the end, he still has to get re-elected. There are more voters than puppetmasters.
I pray all the time. Lord help me, I cannot love the man. If he was injured or needed help I would do it, but I can’t do it. Forgive me.
And I want a pony.
I have a prayer for Obama everyday too... but what I pray is between me and God.
It doesn’t sound ANYTHING like the above...trust me.
That should read, "My God woman, are you high on hopium ?"

If I’m going to do any praying it will be that my aim is true...
I wholly disagree with #2. Re-electing Obama will get us four more years of outright Socialism. Obama don’t give a flying duck whether you like him or love him. He’s gonna continue radically changing and destroying America by using the power of government. Obama, unlike Clintoon, doesn’t govern by polls.
I would pray that the guy would undergo an Ebeneezer Scrooge-like overnight epiphany and be for liberty, free markets , small federal government and strong national defense.(As the ‘so-called founders’ specified).
That would put it in the realm of the greatest miracle of the millennium.
Sorry :0)
Exactly. Miracles happen. Cancers evaporate. Enemies are defeated. Lost souls are saved. Marxists become conservatives.
"Behold, I make all things new."
