Posted on 10/25/2009 3:54:26 PM PDT by newbie2008
A prelude to what will happen under Obamacare. What a horrible day this started out to be. We woke our kids up at their usual time on a school day to get in line for H1N1 vaccinations. The Oakland County Health Department got the word out this week that vaccinations will be occurring in 2 places. The nearest to us was Clarkston Jr High School. Initially we went to the high school because that's what the email told us. We rolled in at 8:15am for a clinic that started at 9. Nobody there except people leaving the building saying that it was at the Junior HS down the road. And here I thought that not many people showed up. Unfortunately, the high school looked like a scene from a new ride at a premier amusement park that just opened. Literally thousands of people there. We were told that the line is 5-7 hours long! Here is the scene from the Jr High School at 8:30am, a morning all of 48F and drizzling
line wraps around school twice
I couldn’t go, I was busy shaking my mailbox.
Looks like one is more likely to catch something from being around that huge pool of people.
Weren't you supposed to complete that order yesterday?
Whatever happened to the bird flu..you remember..the last one that was supposed to wipe us all out?
I plan on skipping that whole H1N1 thingie altogether (including the questionable vaccination).
Lines were that long in 2005 when there was a vaccine shortage due to contamination. Doesn’t anyone remember photos of seniors waiting out in cold rainy weather at clinics and pharmacies?
(sorry, don’t know how to post actual photos)
Seriously, you have my sympathy. I don’t have kids so I didn’t have to make that choice.
LOL! She is a dolt isn't she...
Almost everyone around here has had H1N1..My little Granddaughter had a touch of pneumonia with hers..Scared us!
She is much better now, though. Most kids seem to get over it in four to seven days.
It would be a cold day in you know where before I’d stand in line to get a stupid shot. I’ve never gotten the flu shot and never had the flu. I’m 52 and have a form of lung disease so I could probably get it without any problem but I think I’ll take my chances.
What a bunch of pansies this country has become.
We sure don’t want them.
All Obama is doing is creating another crisis and the artificail need for GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE.
That’s one picture that needs to get out there.
Or how about Swine flu? Swine flu was supposed to be a “pandemic”.
This is a charade by Obama to create a CRISIS. There is no evidence that this is either an epidemic. It's just a flu. He wants to get YOU to support GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE. It's a farce.
Yes, welcome to GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE!
Rationing and all!!!
It would be a cold day in you know where before Id stand in line to get a stupid shot. Ive never gotten the flu shot and never had the flu. Im 52 and have a form of lung disease so I could probably get it without any problem but I think Ill take my chances.

Same here. We eat properly, exercise and sleep well WITHOUT the GOVERNMENT shots. Obama is using this to get people on board for GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE! Look how the sheeple line up for it. Sad. Very sad that people don’t see through this.
I haven’t had the flu in years and hate needles anyway, so I will just skip it.
I don’t have that kind of time to wait in line for it. Never in a million years will you find me there.
I think this is another government scam kinda like global warming.
My daughter tells me the flu is pretty much over at her high school. Same with my two boys’ colleges.
by the time these shots build immunity, the flu will be over. I cannot believe that people will stand in line for a flu shot. My boys, hubby and I are not getting them this year, same as every other year. I don’t know if its the case with these shots, but I found out this year that aborted fetal tissue is used to make immunizations. I won’t be getting anymore, ever........
Government at its best.
Even sleeping is a better use of my time than waiting in line for a GOVERNMENT SHOT that could kill me.
For some reason that picture reminds me of the scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind...when they got all those folks to wear gas masks by telling them the air was poisoned.
Bird flu killed about 60 percent of people that got it. (Maybe fewer, if some who got it didn't get counted.) My guess is, a) the population it first hit (Asian poultry workers?) was not very mobile, b) it killed quickly, and c) Asian countries take epidemics more seriously than we do (dense population centers and collective worldview). Combine that with the fact that bird flu never really adapted to a human host, and it didn't spread very far.
The US produced an H5N1 vaccine for the National Stockpile. I think there's supposed to be enough for 20 million people. It requires twelve times as much antigen*, spread over two shots, to produce immunity in 45% of recipients. Others may develop reduced immunity.
If H5N1 mutates to better infect humans, but keeps the 60% fatality rate, it will be a Bad Thing.
* Trivalent seasonal vaccine contains 45 mcg; 2009 monovalent vaccine requires 15 mcg. Two shots of 90 mcg each = 180 mcg. 180 mcg / 15 mcg = 12.
And Magic Johnson is still alive.
Re. your picture: Senior citizens will wait in line for anything as long as it’s free, no matter what it is...........From there they’re headed to the mall for their morning “mall walks”........or to Meijers for their coffee clutches.
We’re all Socialists now, remember?
Go shake your neighbor’s mailbox.
Excuse me—I’ve been a “Senior Citizen” for many years now, and I resent your remark regarding same.
I’ve probably accomplished more since I reached age 65 than you have or will in a lifetime.
I opened the Fridge and there was a Five Pound Brick of Government Cheese. I asked my Parent's where they got it and my Dad said they were giving them away for free so he went and got one. My Wife just shook her head while I laughed.
Trouble is, my Mom and Dad never ate Cheese unless it was part of my Mother's Lasagna. My Mother didn't use Cheddar Cheese, or whatever that orange stuff was, in any of her recipes. It would have been against the Italian Code of Conduct.
Needless to say, we ended up taking half of the Gubmint Cheese home with us. I think we gave it a taste and threw it away.
Lots of these stories of people standing in line for hours in bad weather waiting for the flu shot. Seems more likely they were waiting for the flu.
“I think this is another government scam kinda like global warming.”
I agree 100%. Imagine all the money the drug company is making—AND WE ARE PAYING FOR IT.
Sadly this shows how effective SCM/MSM control is.
And that’s why the Baraqqi coalition is still to be feared in future elections.
See ya at the mall gramps.........LOL!
This is what nationalized health cares gonna look like. What a mess.
Probably not going to matter. We won’t get it in time even if you wanted it. And O is planning on giving it away to other countries so we won’t have enough. I feel like the inmates at the insane asylum are running the country.
DO THE MATH IDIOTS.
5-7 hours of your time for a “free” shot that they might run out of before you get in,
or 5-10 minutes at Walgreens for $24 bucks or so.
Man people are just so stupid. Standing in the damn rain 5-7 hours. For a damn vcaccine that isn’t guaranteed to prevent you from getting the flu, you could get sick from the vaccine itself, and for a strain of flu weaker than the regular flu.
People really just do not think logically anymore.
You’re helping your immune system and getting good sleep is good for your body.
Get used to the lines, sheeple. If Obamacare passes, you’ll be spending a lot more time in them.
Perfect Picture of American Sheeple.
I wish he hadn't made so many bad personal decisions. He was an amazing leader on the court. Magic was a great basketball player in and of himself, but his real talent was to make his teammates shine.
I suppose there's a modern day parable there. Voters voted for Obama expecting a Magic Johnson and all they got was a Michael Jordan (with a fraction of the talent) - "ME ME ME ME ME ME".
