Nathan Deal says he’ll ask for Barack Obama’s birth certificate
Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | 11-5-09 | Jim Galloway

U.S. Rep. Nathan Deal, now a Republican candidate for governor, this morning declared himself in sympathy with those questioning whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S.A.

The occasion was an online chat the congressman had with supporters this morning. And the question came from Tom Crawford of Capitol Impact.

Do you believe that Barack Obama is a native-born American citizen who is eligible to serve as president? I am asking because your comments on this issue have been a little ambiguous. I would appreciate your clearing this up.

At 9:17 a.m., Deal tapped out this:

I am joining several of my colleagues in the House in writing a letter to the President asking that he release a copy of his birth certificate so we can have an answer to this question.

This is a new position for Deal. Back in August, my AJC colleague Aaron Gould Sheinin asked much the same question. This was the response he received from Deal campaign spokesman Harris Blackwood:

“He began receiving letters and e-mails about this long before the president took office. He has maintained in response to each one that he believes the president was born in the state of Hawaii two years after it became a state, is an American citizen and therefore is fully qualified to be president of the United States.”

“Awkward” will not describe the next meeting to discuss water negotiations between Deal and U.S. Rep. John Lewis.

In a subsequent Twitter message, Deal declared his online chat to be a “huge success.” And attempting to sweep up the birthers may not hurt him in a Republican primary. But it doesn’t polish Deal’s credentials as a general election candidate.

His COLB lists Barack Hussein Obama Sr. as his father. I KNOW that they have documents regarding Jr. that were generated before Aug 10th 1961. This Being the case, then Obama DEFINITIVELY has a BRITISH Father and is NOT a Natural Born Citizen.

Leo Donofrio has pegged Hawaii down to Aug 10th. Statutorily. So that is fact.

Its not where he was born, its WHO HIS FATHER IS.

I personally think his father is from Kenya. Just to much evidence points to that fact. But with that said if his father is not a U.S. citizen then Obama is not in no way a natural born citizen and there fore can not hold the office of president. Yeah they will throw the deal about “natural born citizen” was not defined in the constitution. Thomas Jefferson certainly defined it and I think every one knows who he was. Natural Born Citizen means just what it says and that is a citizen with two U.S parents. I wish Nathan Deal luck on getting his BC but bottom line he does not need it. All he needs to do is throw Obama out of our white house period.

It’s the FACT his father is BRITISH that makes him Ineligible!!!!

Actually the fact that his father was not a US Citizen. Wouldn't matter what country he was a citizen/subject of. Also would not matter if that country declared those born of it's citizens, but outside the country, to be citizens at birth or not.

I do not care if BHO, Jr. was foaled on the White House Lawn on the 4th of July, with the Marine Band from 8th and I playing the "Star Spangled Banner."

Obama's papa (or at least the guy identified by himself as his papa) was a no-good, drunken, wife beatin', commie, SOB, bigamist from Darkest Africa. Being a Christian and all, I might forgive BHO, Sr. all of that. But I can't forget that he was not, never,in no way, an American Citizen. That made little Barack a Dual citizen, or something ... not a "Natural Born American Citizen," as required in Article II, Section 1 of an old yellow parchment written by a bunch of old slave owning white men, among others, called The Constitution.

So every time I hear this "born in Hawaii" crap, I too get very upset. Who cares? The Obama SOB (it runs in the family) has scored a tremendous success on the backs of the Birthers. They have enabled him to claim that "Native," (which btw, DOES remain an open question ... it's just the wrong question) = "Natural." If Team Obama isn't paying certain "Birther" "attorneys," he ought to be.

Really chaps one's hide to hear a candidate for public office pretending to go along with it. So BHO, Jr. Gives Nathan a Birth Certificate. BFD. A Hawaiian BC from that era holds a lot less legal water than a Hawaiian Dog License or DMV Title! Doesn't change Obama's foreign parentage on his daddy-side.

What ever happened to this letter? Was there any response? Note that this article is from 11-05-09.
