Interview with the President: Jail Time for Those without Health Care Insurance?
ABC News ^ | 11/10/09 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 11/10/2009 8:23:25 AM PST by mkboyce

This really takes the cake:

“What I think is appropriate is that in the same way that everybody has to get auto insurance and if you don't, you're subject to some penalty, that in this situation, if you have the ability to buy insurance, it's affordable and you choose not to do so, forcing you and me and everybody else to subsidize you, you know, there's a thousand dollar hidden tax that families all across America are -- are burdened by because of the fact that people don't have health insurance, you know, there's nothing wrong with a penalty.” - Obama

Every child will be a natural born criminal until their parents add them to their health insurance policies.

This is nothing more than social security for health care. Obama wants the healthy youth of America to pay for health care for the middle aged, while restricting health care that is no longer cost-effective for seniors.

Wealth transfer...just think wealth transfer. Just like the GM bailout and Detroit.

But what comes with wealth? Power.

So there has been a powershift. AND it aint gonna stop until he is out.... unless he declares himself life president ..... or destroys the US of A

America needs to wake up!

Obama is somewhat correct in principle but a fool on execution.

It's true that emergency rooms are full of people that don't pay their medical bills. We can either refuse care to them, get someone else to pay their bills, or force them to pay up-front.

The first two choices have serious problems. The third choice seems the best.

A solution would be a subsidy paid for through sales taxes -- and that's in effect what many municipalities do right now -- though the subsidy isn't nearly enough. But it does force most people to pay something to support emergency care while being somewhat sensitive to ability to pay.

The problem with Obama's plan is that it claims to do the same, but in effect simply shifts the burden further away from free-riders.

Since Obama wants to move all the Islamic terrorists out of Guantanamo, I volunteer to take over one of their cells when I’m arrested for being without health insurance.

Unless I can get in on that sweet deal the Uighurs got in Bermuda. I can live with that!

I have made several requests to others asking if they would be so kind as to send cigarettes and chocolates.

I am after all going to be in Stalag. Hopefully, I will be in the same hut with Colonel Hogan.

What if someone, like me, who spent $2,000 bucks out of his own pocket to solve a little health problem. This on top of the drugs I take and the doctor/dentist visits which I pay for out of my pocket, to the tune of $150 each time.

I pay that higher fee because I want an excellent relationship with doctors and when I want to see them, I am not a burden in way to them and who doesn’t like cash.

Should I now be forced to spend at least $20,000 a year for something I will not receive same value for and will be used to subsidize others?

Think about it. That is $20,000 less and my taxes are going up next year while at the same time that State of California is with holding extra money and telling me they will give it back some day.

Tell me you think $3,000 per month less in take home isn’t going to be felt by me, the grocer, my bartender, the car wash, the mall and anyone else I use my money as a patron.

Hope my car doesn’t break down. I may not have the money to fix it.

Then the problem becomes worse.

I spend less and everyone else spends less, guess what? Layoffs and firings start happening.

It’s a great to be in AmeriKa.

See now he has to equalize the numbers in prisons across this land. Make illegal what he can to counterbalance what is already illegal and why the majority of people in prison are in prison.

He is one twisted punk and he can come out of this and say the people spoke because it came out of Congress. He will play Bush II and sign whatever comes out of Congress.

AND NO I am not saying President Bush was ‘twisted’. President Bush needed to keep the funding intact for military spending, and so he let the liberals control domestic policy.

Don’t forget a few simple things about the auto insurance argument:

1. State’s rights versus the Feds
2. Auto Insurance protects the others on the road
3. Auto Insurance is catastrophic only, it does not cover basic maintenance like tires, oil changes, etc.
4. If you don’t drive on the public roadway, you are not required to buy auto insurance.

When this “health care for all” crap passes, right now the legislation states that it will be illegal to sell private policies over the date of passage. It also says that HSA’s will no longer be allowed. That means that my current policy will no longer be allowed and neither I nor my employer will be allowed to privately purchase an alternative.

I will not accept the “public option” that I will be dictated to join. I will not give the government control over my physical body. I will not pay their fines, I will not surrender to the impending warrant for my arrest. When they knock on my door, I will not answer. When they kick it in, I will make the news.

How’s that for unification, libtards? You loons are currently legislating my death. I will chose the terms and I will bring as many of you along as possible!

“Uh, yes you are. You are impacting the health system if you don’t have the ability to pay.”

Due to our current socialistic system. Now the solution to the problems caused by socialism is fascism. Never fails.

So who among us is going to sue the Federal Gov. to get a ruling from the Supreme Court?

I hope millions do.

Uh, yes you are. You are impacting the health system if you don’t have the ability to pay.

Well you answered your own question....

I had a kid....and paid for it out of pocket. I chose to do that. I had the $$....

Now I'm potentially going to jail if I don't have Health Insurance?

What will be MANDATED by the Government next....by FORCE?

Oxygen Insurance?

Weather Insurance?

Tire Insurance?

Food Insurance?

Fat Insurance?

*** So who among us is going to sue the Federal Gov. to get a ruling from the Supreme Court? ... I hope millions do. ***

That's the trick. Can't sue until 'it' (in any form) becomes law.

The sickening part is only a couple Republicans in Congress have even brought up the Constitution. Michelle Bachmann was one and some guy(1) who basically said, 'Let The Court Sort It Out.' (nice attitude)

(1) Can't recall his name there's at hread on it somewhere I read a while ago. Maybe its in a link from Michelle Malkin's 'Hot Air'.

“Well, you get health care in jail.”

This is true. Prisoners are the only people with a constitutional right to health care, according to decades of court rulings. The idea being that if you deprive a person of their freedom, you then are responsible for providing the food, shelter and medical care needed to keep them healthy, i.e., it would be “cruel and unusual punishment” (hence unconstitutional) to let prisoners die of starvation for example, or let them bleed to death in their cell by refusing to provide lifesaving treatment.

Obama laments the $1000 cost these uninsured allegedly are imposing on society, so his solution is to toss them in jail where the annual cost to keep them at taxpayer expense is measured in thousands of dollars a year!

Here is a question, Will people that are in Prison already be charged with a new crime?

Does this mean people in Prison have to pay for their own health care?

If there is an income related cut-off, what about the independently wealthy that are in Prison.

All the wrinkles to this health care bill make my head hurt.

I remember a hermit that lived in a cave, when he died we found out he was a millionaire. The only time we saw him is when he came down to watch tv in the bar.

Is he guilty? I don’t think that guy went to the hospital and I don’t think he even took a bath.

What a strange world we are heading towards.

We’ll be forced to subsidize the usual dem victim groups. And eventually the illegals. The only difference will be now we can go to jail - and the health care we pay for will be crap...
