NO!

I refuse to comply with an illegal treaty. MY Constitution is the SUPERIOR DOCUMENT and the only document I comply with.

Lock and load.

Exactly. He can try. He won't like the result. It'll be 1861 all over again - on his watch. In spite of what the tingly-leg crowd would have us believe, obama is no Lincoln.

Uh...yeah... sure. The only thing it would accomplish would be to start Civil War II.

The good news there is, if obama's "handling" (if you could call it that) of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are any indication... He'd eff-up Civil War II in short order and it'd be over in a matter of weeks.

“On the day this happens, all law enforcement officers have a choice to make....which side are they on? Do you side with the Constitution or our facist government?
I am generally interested in the answers to these questions. Anybody here on FR ever talked to some LEOs about this issue? “

Here’s your answer. The police will talk a big game on the internet about how they have sworn to uphold the Constitution and all that. However, when faced with getting terminated, then can’t feed their families, pay their mortgage, etc. and knowing all the while that some numbskull who really doesn’t give a flying F about some ‘constitution’ is ready to take their job as soon as they are walked out the front door, .... Sorry, I don’t see mass walkoffs of police officers. I see just the opposite.

Frankly I don't place much trust in Snopes. They tend to be very biased and misleading on political issues.

Any treaty signed by this president is probably undesirable, unconstitutional, and not in America's best interest.

But when coming from a bunch of Mao lovers, the Constitution is just a nuisance.

What's become of Freepers who knee-jerk react first, and don't bother to look for the facts?

What about the fact that there was no mention of SB: 2099 or a Senate bill in this article? Hmmm? Should we look at that fact?

I’d expect to see blue helmets in the streets instead of our police forces. Everyone understands the 2nd Amendment cannot go undefended.

Well now, that’s the loophole. A treaty supercedes the constitution. That’s the point here. Rt Obstrd knows he cannot get by the 2nd amendment so he is bypassing the entire constitution, constitutionally.

I now wonder if there is a way to hold a vote with enough rt btrds present to pass the treaty - passing a treaty requires 2/3rds of the senators present. I expect there is a minimum requirement. Anyone know what that is? God help us if it is 60.

What do you mean "what's BECOME of Freepers?"...Freepers have always been like this. You've been around since '98 just like me. Remember all the posts back then about how Clinton wasn't going to leave office? How he was going to find some reason to declare martial law? It was rampant back then...

This does seem like an unprecedented move by obama, that is the concern. The czars seemed unconstitutional also. It is all about the agenda. - search of Internet - following:

After a decade and a half of pushing unsuccessfully to secure America’s support for a legally-binding, international instrument to regulate the marketing, transfer and brokering in firearms, they are now on the brink of success. The process of formally negotiating an Arms Trade Treaty (“ATT”) now has Washington’s seal of approval; announced October 14th by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

We have a president, a secretary of state, and an undersecretary philosophically in synch with the UN and its member nations who have been clamoring for the US to join the march to an ATT. In her statement of October 14th announcing Washington’s reversal on this issue, Clinton made not even passing or indirect reference to the Constitution, much less the Second Amendment; a position so clearly and forcefully employed by Bolton when defending our interests against the international “community.”

The real agenda of these folks at the UN, and in London, Tokyo, Brasilia, and the other capitals around the world of nations pushing the US to “come on board,” is not international regulation, but limiting the freedom we enjoy within the United States to keep and bear arms.

Constitution Article II, Section 2 requires all treaties to be concurred by 2/3 of Senators present.”

It wouldn’t surprise me if they concurred, but then, I think ALL politicians are carpetbaggers, liars, thieves and tax cheats.

If I remember right, there exists no political tap dance that can legally bypass approval by congress of any foreign treaty (no matter what they call it) that obligates the USA in any way.

I hope they try and fail, however, and put the issue to permanent rest.

I know a 30-something year old cop in Central Texas that says about half the Department is on the verge of mutiny.

I'd say that bodes pretty well...
