This is what happens when You let an Apparently KENYAN BORN COMMUNIST RADICAL who has stated he “only supports some parts of the U.S. Constitution” hide ALL of His Past, including where he was Born, All of His Medical and Academic Records, All of His Passport and Travel records, All of His Professional Records and Financial Records, Realize He NEVER WROTE HIS ALLEGED “MEMOIRS”, ignored the Fact that ge Never Had a Real Position of Responsibility and Decision making, Ignored that He Campaigned as a US Senator for a Third World Thug and Possible Murderer, and then You Give HIM the MOST POWERFUL and MOST RESPONSIBLE POSITION IN ALL OF THE WORLD’S HISTORY because He is GOOD AT READING A TELEPROMPTER AND OBFUSCATING THE TRUTH!

MAY GOD SAVE OUR AMERICA AND OUR WORLD!!

That’s right and if there is a special call at 3:00 am to half a dozen anti-gun Senators they’ll vote on the treaty and ratify it before we know what’s happening.

Then there will be blood...

Its DOA if he tries. Treaties are subordinate to the Constitution and cannot override the protections stated therein. They can only be valid within the confines of the authority granted to our government by the Constitution. Plenty of controlling case law on this already exists including the recent Supreme Court smack down ruling in Medillan v Texas 2008. But its just an exercise in fantasy really. No way the Senate would pass such a thing.

Most likely you're right. But what if it's something else like Cap and Trade? Say 10 years down the road gas is $10/gallon, electricity rates have tripled, and there is no more middle class. Do we as citizens just sit there and become a third world country, or do we say "enough!"?

IT'S A HOAX!!

Geez, 42 posts into the thread and no one's bothered to see if SB-2099 exists in this Senate session (it doesn't) and no one's bothered to look on SNOPES.COM to see if this is a hoax (it is, and has been since May of this year.)

What's become of Freepers who knee-jerk react first, and don't bother to look for the facts?

There is NO agenda of Øbamoa’s that is in our best interests. The marxists are playing with fire, and like an inexperienced child, they will get burned if they don't stop. Private stockpiles of ammo and firearms exist now. Good luck, Ø, getting them from us without a fight.

I sure wish I had bought stock in firearms and ammo companies about a year and half ago.

What struck me about this article is that past presidents would not sign on to this.

from article:

The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.

There is a lack of trust with the current administration and our constitution.

Let the blue helmets come collect........

They’d be more terrified in the backwoods of West Virginia than the jungles of Rwanda.

BS. He’d need 2/3’s of Congress and there would be the resulting lawsuits that would, ultimately, be decided by the SCOTUS.

He can’t sidestep Congress.

That is why Obama wants a civilian military that is just as strong, just as powerful as the military because he knows they will not follow all of his evil orders.

Suggest a careful reading of Art. VI, U. S. Constitution, which sets out the order or laws , esp, the phrase “which shall be made under the authority of the United States”. In other words, treaties derive their power and acceptance from the Constitution. If this proposal were to take place, it would require the elimination of the 2nd Amendment. That ain't gonna happen, period. Further, NO treaty can supersede the Constitution. Obama may try something otherwise, but he'll run square into an armed populace, if he does.
