That makes me proud as well. Reagan was a great man.

Obama even made an issue of how wearing a flag pin was not appropiate for him but now he is bowing to foreign leaders. He is pathetic and sick, imo.

"Wtf? First the Saudi king, now the Japanese emperor??"

Obama is a hamster. But he is a dangerous hamster.

I was taught that an American bows to no man!

At least one of the Japanese in the audience has the measure of Obummer, and knows what to do when being in proximity to him is unavoidable.

Body language experts call this bow the “Overcompensation Bow”.

It’s best used after bowing to a Saudi King to make sure you now look like you bow to everbody.

Pros: Japanese leaders are much shorter and he might throw out his back.

Cons: He now has to bow to every leader in the world...and that suff is supposed to happen behind closed doors after long-winded Apologia.

Well , I have been living here in Japan for 24 years and I can tell you that he is definitely prosrating himself . It’s obvious Akihito and his wife had no intention of bowing and were taken aback but amused by Obama’s emptyheaded gesture .

thanks for the picture of Reagan doing it right.
Hope we can find another one like him for 2012 to roll back the crap like Reagan did in ‘80 when he rolled back the crap of the previous 4 miserable, embarassing years under James Earl Carter. And don’t tell me Newt is the man because I hold him directly responsible for the mess we find ourselves in now.

one look at the picture said something was ~really~ wrong>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You got it. You have therefore experienced enough of Japanese culture to know how genuine admiration and respect feels in a bow.

This feels as you imply....horrible.

No respect. Its a bow all about “me.”

Obama is a bull in a China shop, no,,, a defecating bull in a China shop.

Obama will leave a horrible mess in Japan for his underlings to clean up, if indeed they can.

Obama has blown his whole visit.

Think the Chinese will miss this? Sheesh, what am I saying? They've already pegged him as a man-child.

Its a parody of a very deeply significant gesture in Japan. A mockery of Japanese culture, whether Obama intended that or not. Few Japanese have the privilege of bowing to the Emperor, and if this photo makes the news in Japan, it will be seen as a veiled insult, especially by the more conservative elements in Japan

Is it really a faux pas for a foreign leader to bow to the Emperor? Who does have the privilege of bowing to him?

No good can come from this.

Correct and your name calling is as childish as the bow Obama made.

Ah, thanks for the insight. I never mastered the bow in 4 1/2 years of living in Japan.

It is not normal at all. Obama fails to realize that he is representing America. We do not bow or prostrate ourselves to foreign rulers. Another major diplomatic gaffe by this idiot.
