An excellent 1 hour documentary on the real life exploits of WWII British double-agent, Dusko Popov -- a Serb who even conveyed information to J. Edgar Hoover on the imminent attack on Pearl Harbor four months before it happened --and who was used as the model for Ian Fleming's James Bond. (There are 6 10-minute videos)
and of course FDR(zer0bama’s mentor) new nothing....
No good deed goes unpunished, however. The U.S. and NATO bombed Serbia on behalf of the Muslims, and betrayed Mihailovic in preference to the Commie Tito.
I am not sure that I would agree with you...the water is a bit muddier than you would like to think.
Specifically, the primary reason the US (and NATO) went to war was because NATO found itself sucked into the the Kosovo conflict which was because there was a prevailing belief -at that time - that if the conflict was not stopped, it would soon spill over into Macedonia.
If that happened then that republic's neighbors would be brought in. Albania would invoke its defense treaties with Turkey, Greece would then become involved and there were worries that there might be repercussions in Cyprus. As such, it was thought that it might be better to become involved too early then too late.
Another point I would make, is that the NATO bombings were, unfortunately, a (knee-jerk) reaction to Serbian actions from Dubrovnik to Vukovar, to Sarajevo, to Srebrenica.
That was certainly the NATO PR on it. But it doesn't explain why a NATO base was on the drawing board for Kosovo years earlier and they started building Camp Bondsteel and Camp Monteith within 17 days of the end of our bombing.
IMHO, in retrospect, our attack on Kosovo was a matter of opportunity rather than a US or NATO reaction. NATO saw an opportunity to seize an asset from Serbia -- a great physical staging point -- and took it. Kosovo "independence" was sealed before the first bomb was ever dropped and the US agreed to be Albanian Kosovo's sponsor for no other reason than to build and retain Camp Bondsteel.
We made a deal with the Devil and now we have to provide our tax dollars to support that that devil forever because Kosovo is not financially viable and never will be.

I often wonder if they are simply going after the most resourceful, stubborn and defiant people first -- and Serbs just happen to repeatedly top that that list. Serbs are really terrible at blind obedience to an oppressor.
Thanks Bokababe. I believe this is guy was actually a triple agent — recruited by the Soviets to spy on the Germans as a double agent, and he then on his own went to the British, was codenamed “Tricycle”. Of course, British intelligence was dug deep by Soviet moles, who passed info to the USSR almost as fast as it got passed to Churchill.
