The President's State of The Union Address hyped up Clean Energy and Renewable Power. These three methods of electrical power generation are the most inefficient ways to produce electricity. Wind Power at best delivers it power at an efficiency rate of only 20%. If you got a brand new car full in the knowledge that it was only going to run one time in five, would you be happy? The same applies with renewable power. Enormously expensive and totally inefficient. Why should we be happy about that?
All energy comes, one way or another from the sun. Whether it is converted directly into electricity by a solar panel or used to create the biomass that was eaten by dead dinosaurs that have liquified and stored for millions of years for us to discover and pump into our refineries, the original source was the fusion furnace we call Sol. The solar-driven wind is just another method of conversion.
“Efficiency” as this blogger likes to discuss, takes on different meaning when energy conversion is concerned. There is no shortage of energy, but some methods or conversion are faster, easier, cheaper, safer, or otherwise preferable to others.
Because he said so?
Nuclear? Geothermal?
