Sarah Palin: Stay Focused: Relocating Terrorists' Trial Doesn't Solve the Main Problem
Facebook ^ | 01-29-10 | Sarah Palin

People are celebrating the fact that the Obama Administration is considering relocating the terrorists’ trial from New York to another American city. Yet there’s still no talk of moving the trial out of our U.S. civilian courts to where it should take place – a military tribunal.

Now the administration is backtracking in order to fix its initially blundered decision to try these dangerous terrorists in New York City despite the great danger and cost to New Yorkers. This scenario is all too common in Washington. The tactic is to propose something so outrageous that the public will rise up and demand common sense, and then the White House “concedes” and changes its initial decision to give the impression of newfound reasonability and moderation. But the problem still isn’t solved! The trial location debate becomes a diversion so that we’ll take our eyes off the ball. The point missed is that our President still wants to give these terrorists U.S. constitutional protections in our civilian courts, allowing them to lawyer-up on our dime.

This tactic is in the same vein as another Washington game: creating the appearance of a “crisis” in order to push for a radical solution. (“The health care crisis must be fixed by government now or we’re all gonna die! The earth’s temperature is fluctuating; government must fix this crisis now or we’re all gonna die! Private businesses made poor decisions and bureaucrats claim they’re too big to fail, so government must fix this crisis now or we’re all gonna die!”) Politicians and lobbyists announce that there is a “crisis,” and never letting a good crisis go to waste, they propose a radical solution to fix it. The public listens intently, and in a sincere desire to help, an alternative to the politicians’ radical solution gets put forward. The politicians then “concede” and mellow out their radical solution. The public’s attention has been diverted to tinkering on the periphery, all the while ignoring the real problem at the heart of the “crisis” that started the whole debate.

The fact is our government has a choice as to where to try the terrorists. We don’t have to try them in our civilian courts. The peripheral debate regarding in which city to try these evil, dangerous haters-of-America is a diversion. Let’s get back to the heart of the matter: what choice will our government make – terrorist trials in civilian courts or military tribunals?

People may or may not want Palin to run for higher office... but, either way... she continues to be very effective.

This here is rpoof-enough that She has studied both Rahm Emmanuel intently and know Saul A-slinky inside-out. [misspell intended]

She is absolutely right. Obama goes two steps forward and one back;two steps forward and one back. Classic Leninism. Lenin was not much of a political philosopher: the last place in the world—he thought—that the Revolution would happen was in the Russian empire. But he was a helluva good political tactician. Among his admirers was an Italian socialist newspaper man, Benito Mussolini.

Hey Liberals, Sarah's on to your game plan. I believe that she has also read Sun Tzu's The Art of War which trumps your stupid Alinsky Rules for Radicals bigtime.

Keep your eyes on the prize!

The location of this unnecessary trial will be an attractive target for Al Qaeda.

But, of course, the Obama administration never thought about that.

Next up: The sound of millions of Americans simultaneously shouting "NIMBY!"

But, of course, the Obama administration never thought about that.

I don't think I have ever read anything written by any politician which is any more cogent, historically well informed, direct to the point, understandable to anyone with a normal mastery of the English language, or as correct on common sense grounds as practically everything this remarkable lady writes, or even says in unprepared and unrehearsed remarks. The only few I can think of who compare were Ronald Reagan, Dick Cheney (his calmness, clarity, offset by a willingness to tell a Senator to go f*** himself, are what scared and infuriated the Left. If he wasn't so good they would have just ridiculed him) or looking further back FDR, TR, and Lincoln.

I am NOT saying she is going to reach their levels of national government experience or political power, that remains to be seen. But she certainly is an effective communicator for a lot of sound ideas. The upper midwest/western twang in her voice may throw some people off, especially of course the "enlightened" masters of the MSM and academia, but even that is so perfectly all-American that it lends an instant "I'm one of you" note for the vast majority of Americans.

I know that you were not trying to demean Sarah, you were just making an common expression but I hear that all the time about people may not want her to run....she has every right to run and let the people decide, just like that stupid outlier poll by CBS that said 71% didn’t want her to run and many FReepers were going in.....what right have anyone to tell someone they shouldn’t run, if she has the money and means to advance her ideas and they are appealing to people, then so be it and if she loses then so be it.

Palin is the real leader of the Free World. Regardless of whether you hate or her love her, she’s the one people are listening to...even people overseas. She’s that powerful.

And of course she should get the official title of being President, but the question is whether the American people will be smart enough to elect her.

“...but the question is whether the American people will be smart enough to elect her.”

That’s a good question. After the last election there’s no tellin’.

For sure... I just want people to move past or set aside the “presidential” question & just appreciate how she manages to “get movement” in a realm where loads of conservatives try but fail to do the same.

This woman, Sarah Barracuda, creates turnovers. When she is in the game... the score moves in our direction.

I suggest we let Sarah be Sarah & worry about 2012 next year.

Right now... when a conservative opposes Sarah, I ask myself... Progressive? Fat cat? How do you feel about ear marks? Are you really on the team?

Many conservatives do not like her personality; some do not think her candidacy would be a good thing. Fair enough. But many others do not want her rocking the boat. The fat, corrupt, unpopular boat....

As the Dems implode, the GOP is not rising. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The GOP is broken. If not Sarah (maybe not as a candidate) exactly HOW do “you” Palin opposers propose we fix it?

For now, let Sarah be Sarah. She is effective.
