The Glenn Beck/Debra Medina Sucker Punch
CFP ^ | 2/15/10 | Bob Parks

Posted on 02/15/2010 9:21:06 AM PST by pissant

Let’s say I had a television show and I asked a political candidate some questions regarding, let’s say, about the other entrenched lifer candidates, local issues, state and federal issues, the Constitution, and then asked if he or she believed Babe Ruth was really black or if Barack Obama was really a United States citizen or if there was a 9/11 conspiracy.

Let’s say an answer was given I didn’t like. Would that alone disqualify me from holding public office?

I will admit, I did like some of the things Beck’s said over the last year on Fox News and previous years on radio, but he may have just shown us just how full of himself he really is.

Personally, I’d like to see some new blood running Texas. Rick Perry straddled the bonehead fence when he started talking about secession, Kay Bailey Hutchinson appears to feel she’s entitled to the governorship after many flaky years in the US Senate.

And while we’re at it, let’s talk conspiracy.

Sarah Palin is now a Beck compadre at Fox News. Sarah Palin endorsed Rick Perry. Debra Medina was surging in the polls. Beck throws a beanball at Medina in an attempt to knock her out of the race. How ironic it would be that liberals could use a Glenn Beck audio clip to take out a Republican.

I’ve already made my views (then doubts) about Beck known when I saw him pandering to black Republicans on a weekend show, complete with jungle-looking graphics, trying to come off as a potential savior who understands. I’ve never bought his crying like a pussy, and I’ve rejected every attempt he’s made to make himself a 9/12, tea party grand poohbah.

My take on the issues:

1) 9-11 troofery. That's a dealbreaker for me.

2) The Purging of the Texas Forensic Science Commission investigating the execution of Cameron Willingham. When asked about it, his response was even worse than waffling; it was pretty much the standard 'I don't answer to you' reply that people accustomed to power like to give. Another dealbreaker. I'm also curious about the details pertaining to his Spring 2007 trip to Istanbul.

3) Process of elimination leaves KBH. Not my kind of candidate, but if she becomes governor then that vacates her Senate seat, and someone more likely to effect real change in DC such as Armey or Gramm or even Ron Paul could run for the seat. So could be a blessing in disguise.

In related news, I'm glad to see that Beck's softball question to Medina has gotten him rehabilitated in the eyes of the Covenites, following his exile stemming from Palin's inability to answer one of his softball questions.

There was no "trap." It wasn't even a tough question...she just didn't have the correct answer.

Would you have the same or different answer as hers?

I did not say it was a trap, or even a hard question.

>> [...] knowing full well a Debra Medina won’t be going any farther than the Texas Governor’s non-mansion.

Luckily, the vast majority of conservatives in Texas and elsewhere seem to see things as I do, and not as you do. The only way she’s seeing the Governer’s residence is if he decides to give her a tour — you can vote for whomever you want, and if ‘crazy anti-American propagandist’ isn’t enough to disqualify her in your mind, so be it. Her candidacy is an irrelevancy.

It is by the grace of God alone that this information came out before she did any real damage to Texas, the GOP, or the reputation of the Tea Party movement. Good riddance to her.

Left is OK bombing sketch of third suspect (John Doe #2). Right is Padilla.

There are lots of conspiracy theory questions and answers about it of course. My thought is simply that the investigators were looking in the wrong place for John Doe #2 and never came across Padilla in that investigation. Could also be a case of incompetence, but not conspiracy.

Now that we got him though does make me wonder if he was ever questioned on it recently. Probably not though since the OKC case has been "closed" for a while.

“In related news, I’m glad to see that Beck’s softball question to Medina has gotten him rehabilitated in the eyes of the Covenites, following his exile stemming from Palin’s inability to answer one of his softball questions.”

ROFLMAO! I can see your point, too, about why Hutchinson is your default. I guess my concern is that I see Hutchinson as a real killer for the conservative GOP in Texas. She’s a better pol than Perry in some ways, and I don’t think she’d have overreached with TTC, but if she’d wanted it, she’d have ACCOMPLISHED the TTC!

That said, I can’t fault your point about her exiting being a blessing in disguise. However, I always figured that if she won Perry would try to appoint himself to her seat. To me, the smarter play for him in this whole thing would have been to make her promise to appoint him to the Senate, then let her waltz in to the Governor’s non-mansion knowing he was her kingmaker, not the Bushies.

Personally, I’d like to see some new blood running Texas.

Is the person who wrote this even a Texan? I think not. We don't care what people from other states/countries want to see.

We don't have a problem with "new blood." We just don't want a moonbat "running" Texas. (In reality, Texans run Texas.)

“Luckily, the vast majority of conservatives in Texas and elsewhere seem to see things as I do, and not as you do.”

Well, we’ll see come the primary, but you’re probably right. That’s what makes politics fun to watch, eh? And I will say that I don’t know that being a truther and an “anti-American propagandist” are the same thing. Some of these crackers types really do think the Republicrat government is that evil. Me, I think they’re venal and self-interested, but even a Dubai-port-lovin’, Taliban-not-killin’, Saddam-hand-shakin’ Rumsfeld is not that evil. Notice I didn’t disagree with you on the ‘crazy’ part of your earlier description, however.

Best to you and yours, Doc. Thanks for not diggin’ too deep into the ol’ vitriol stash.

No, Freeper Bob Parks is from Virginny, I think.

Just be sure to keep your RINO Charlie Perry in Texas if he wins.

The only non-RINO running for Gov are the Democrats!

Medina is a RINO!

I don’t believe 911 was an inside job. I do believe that the incompetence of Clinton paved the way for it. They treated terrorism as a self esteem issue rather then what it really is, which is a lack of morality.

We'll do as we please.

As I told another out-of-state poster who was exhorting us to vote for Medina yesterday:

Texans don't cotton to people from the lesser states telling us what to do.

We're not voting a Paulista-Truther-Moonbat into the governor's office.

I know, you’re voting in an Open borders, finger in the wind, Charlie Crist in cowboy boots RINO instead

But what does she think about the mafia’s involvement in the JFK assassination? You know, that happened in Texas!

Perry and Hutchison are “Establishment Approved”! You must vote for them!

What would she do differently as governor of Texas if she though 9/11 was an inside job or not?

What’s the problem questioning the government about possible 9/11 coverups? Are we supposed to blindly believe the government? Jefferson didn’t think so.

Funny how even conservatives in the NW want someone in the border states to stop illegal aliens invading.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about the appointment angle. And it could be Perry - the whole go with the flow, work with our colleagues on the other side of the aisle, atmosphere of the Senate might suit him.
