What to say when, "What do you think about Obamacare?" is asked
3-22-10 | RandallFlagg

Posted on 03/22/2010 12:10:52 PM PDT by RandallFlagg

Last week, someone at work asked me about the Obamacare thing. I explained to him that it's a massive tax increase of at least $12,000 per family. He looked like I'd hit him in the gut.

He told someone else, and the reaction was about the same.

We need to put this thing into quick words for everyone to understand. There's still a lot of people who have no clue about it all. Something like what I's used:

"Can you afford a thousand bucks a month to pay for this?"

I think he got it from an article or report. I’ll look in his, “Stack.”

Tell them to call their Primary Care Physician and ask how much longer they are going to hang out a shingle.

I heard one doctor say that Primary Care will be handled by Nurse Practitioners and Nurses. What doctors left are going to be in specialties that actually pay the rent (Government approved treatments).

Increased premiums, fines, and possibly jail if you don't buy (invest) in an approved policy.

Net decrease in doctors will not be offset by increase in IRS agents.

Hospitals will no longer invest in latest advances, which will no longer be done because companies won't be able to recover their investments.

Preexisting conditions will force some insurance companies out of business.

Long Term Care and assisted living are in jeopardy.

Decrease in average age...

Much appreciated. I have several friends who are super liberal (whatdya expect living here in Washington LOL)... I’d love to ask them that question and see their reaction.

Here’s that part of Rush’s transcript:

“Before the recession, Washington spent $24,000 a year per US household. Obama would hike it to $36,000 by 2020 — an inflation-adjusted $12,000-per-household expansion of government. (And does anyone think they’re getting their money’s worth?).” Add that to the $75,000 share of our debt that every household has. “If spending jumps $12,000 per household, taxes must eventually rise. The president would make a large down-payment on that with a $2 trillion tax hike on all Americans.” This is the fourth source now that says every American gets a tax increase. Reuters, Investor’s Business Daily, the New York Post, and the Wall Street Journal. And whoever looks at this honestly will conclude the same thing.”

I'll say what I've been saying all day:

Long live The Two State Solution.

Those figures are virtual figures in that people don’t feel the immediate impact on their personal finances. What you need is somewhere where Obama or his admin. state that you will be taxed an additional $1,000 per month out of your paycheck, IOW, your Medicare deduction or SSA deduction will increase by $250 per weekly paycheck (or however you’re paid). They have to see it really coming out of their pay.

And I don’t think people will stop going to the ER because they can’t get an appointment for a minor problem. We could stay where we’re at and probably save money in comparison!

Last week, I believe it was Robert Samuelson, who wrote that 83% of emergency room use is by people who currently have health insurance. So the savings from insuring more people is a myth. In reality, more people insured will translate into more emergency room use.

I was in Canada last fall. Here’s some examples of their “free healthcare”:

$12 for 10 lbs. potatoes
$6.50 for gallon milk
$8 for cheese
$5 for 1 lb. tomatoes
$15 a pound for cheap steak
$24 a case for cheap beer

Their costs were triple what we pay in southern Indiana.

Ask your liberal friends to imagine Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann (or other hated person) as the next Secretary of Health & Human Services and having the power to decide what’s in their “private” health insurance plan. That ought to make them shudder!

17,000 new IRS thugs.

I wrote that on a nursing forum, and an obamaphile nurse responded with this, and I quote:

“I say it is common sense, with a new mandate how is it going to be enforced without more agents.”

Scary, hunh?

Tell them...Yeah, just wait until the Republicans get to decide who sits on the DEATH PANEL. With all the new financial info the IRS is collecting it will be pretty darn easy to see who donates to whom. Karma’s a bitch.

How many people does our company have? Hmmm 50, hope the 50th likes losing their job, and the COBRA payments.

I educated a couple of guys this week, the key is to pick senior citizens, we are a reliable voting block...cut & gutting grannies and gramps Medicare, nursing homes, the Military’s Tricare, doesn’t sit well. I show them copies of national news papers articles on the cut & guts. Then I hit them with the 46% of primary care docs are going to quit, where are you going to find a doc to take you? Then I tell them not to just take my word, go google and do some reading.

One came back today, convinced. Hopefully he’ll spread the word to his family and friends.

An interesting thought can BHO issue an EO CONSCRIPTING the docs that quit and force them to practice medicine? Because it’s going to take him a while to find enough imported non English speaking docs to take their place.
