A modest proposal for all Tea Party members (Ultra Hurl Alert!)
The San Francisco Chronicle ^ | March 28, 2010 | Michael Yaki

Posted on 03/29/2010 1:17:29 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The Tea Party movement, as I understand it, is a protest against big government. Big government as in the federal government. And they're tired of their taxes being taken by the big federal government, which is why the "Tea Party Express" is headed to our nation's capital for a rally on April 15, Tax Day. So this is directed, with some affection, to them.

To begin, if you have a belief system, you might as well be consistent.

If you're a Tea Party member, I urge you to renounce your right to Medicare when you turn 65. Now. And if you have it, give it up immediately. In fact, we should provide you with a irreversible opt-out form and refund you any monies paid into the system so you can go out into the private market and buy your own insurance. And see how many years of coverage that it will buy you. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, you won't lose coverage if you're currently suffering from heart disease, asthma, or gout -- because of that horrendous health care bill that just passed. Perhaps you should opt out of insurance entirely, since you are under the misimpression that the government will be running the whole show, and just pay cash as needed. The insurance companies and HMOs will love to take your dollars -- until they run out. And when the well runs dry and you're in debt up to your ears from various ailments sorry, but you're not eligible for Medicaid either. Gotta opt out of that one. Another big government liberal intrusive program. Maybe if you have a tin cup on the street some bleeding heart liberal will drop in enough cash so that you can buy yourself some aspirin at the nearest CVS.(continued)

What an asshat! Poster "ursafilms" in the comments section took him to task rather nicely. I'd like my money back, too!

Cool. Can I opt out of social security as well? And receive an inflation adjusted complete refund for all of my “contributions”?

If there wasn’t medicare to begin with then the healthy care industry would’ve been ALOT healthier and ALOT cheaper and alot more competitive, thus not requiring any government interference

they ruined the system and they justify further interference because the old system didn’t work. Hey genius, it didn’t work because you ruined it

Medicare and SS? Give them up ... in a heart beat. But I want all the money that I have put into those money given back to me.

Student loans ... please, they are LOANS. The loans get paid back. Grants ... never had one, never used one and I teach my children not to get them. Scholarships, savings, or business footing the bill is the way to go.

I suggest that Michael Yaki sit down, take in another bong, and contemplate just what the Founding Fathers thought was the purpose of the press. It surly was not to be a mouthpiece for Big Government. However, since it is failing its primary purpose so badly, soon it will be calling on Big Government to keep it afloat for its one or two readers. Happy trails, Mr. Michael Yaki. Sweet dreams!

I’m 67 years old and opted out of Medicare at the first opportunity. I pay for my own health insurance, along with my former employer’s contribution.

Of course, I’m still paying Medicare/FICA at my post-retirement job. And so is my current employer.

As far as I’m concerned, the government can pool those contributions and buy a new aircraft carrier. That is one good deal that the feds provide, and it’s even in the US Constitution!

This article is pure malice and venom.

And his side won .....

This is a defining fact of liberalism: They are humorless, tasteless, and classless. They don't deserve to live in a free republic.

Maybe we ought to take their citizenship away -- they were giving it away already to the exponents of Caesarism, why not give it away to us? -- and helotize them, reduce them to serfdom. Then they can work for us and spit their classless, useless bile at us all they want.

I have an outside the box suggestion for the Tea Party, instead of protesting against the taxation openly admit you are supporting Islam and demand equality as Muslims do and thus are exempt from having to fund Obamacare.

Send an open direct message to Obama since it was he himself that has proclaimed Americans are all Muslims now.

Where do I sign up? As long as I can receive a refund (with interest) of all of the contributions I have made to both Medicare and SS, as well as being exempt from those taxes going forward, I will happily opt out of both government boondoggles. I will fund my own retirement and medical care. If I fail to save enough over the next 30 years; that’s my problem.

You can opted out of medicare?

My friend is retired and has health insurance now from his previous job but will be turning 65 next month and would rather stay on the health insurance he has now. He explained he’s required to take medicare and use his current health ins along w/medicare.

Can he just continue w/his current insurance instead. I believe he pays into it and his former employer does, also.

“Can he just continue w/his current insurance instead. I believe he pays into it and his former employer does, also.”

No, at age 65 it is mandatory that Medicare become your primary medical insurance. The insurance you have as a retiree prior to age 65 becomes your secondary insurance, and picks up the difference between what Medicare pays (80%)out, in other words any remaining balance, or the 20% remaining. You have no choice in the matter.

Thank you. So it is mandatory. That’s what he said but reading some comments here about opting out, I thought I’d have some good news for him.

Still don’t understand why it’s mandatory - who does it benefit? What’s the purpose?

The San Francisco Chronicle Michael Yaki

These guys--the Palin haters, the Tea Party haters, the Malkin haters, the Coulter haters-- all look...similar....just can't think of what the common denominator might be. Yaki on Facebook:

He is a he, right? Photo isn't of a San Francisco lesbian wedding, is it?

There are meritorious fixes that should and could be implemented so that everything does not devolve from Washington. But it is surgery with a scalpel, not with a giant chainsaw run amok.

I love the way liberals like Michael Wacky wave their hypocrisy like a flag. Soetorocare is that giant chainsaw run amok that Wacky claims not to care for.

Let's begin at the beginning:

Author... "Michael Yaki"
Obvious from the last name that the first name was "Americanized" to appear more mainstream. So, we're reading the opinions of "Mikhat Yaki." One question: Why?

Next, the medium... "San Francisco Chronicle"
Okay, we're reading from an ultra left-fringe commie extremist rag filled with Enemy Propaganda. Same question: Why?

When the ball goes up on this one, and it's looking more and more like that's where this is headed, the first to go "poof" should be the former "Fouth Estate," the newspapers entrusted by the public to be their adversarial, "distrust-but-verify" watchdogs. Not only has the bad dog stopped "watching," it has now repeatedly bitten it's master. When the houshold mutt goes rabid on the kiddies, it's time for the double-ought to the medula oblongata.

It's two kliks away from elevated threat assessments 3 and 4. Elevated Threat Assessment Progression from least to most:

Soap Box
Ballot Box
Jury Box
Ammo Box

We're still watching to see if Level Two will work in November. What we cannot afford to wait for is for the levels to go any higher before we start discussing the obvious ramifications and unintended consequence of waiting until we're at Level 4 to begin discussing this. Once we get there, it's way too late for talk.

If there were a communist cabal in DC also waiting for the ball to go up, their most fervent hope, and the most vital piece of their puzzle, will be to have cowed the public into such a numb, PC mindset where we feel like we just can't even risk discussing "what ifs?" for fear of reprisals. Riddle me this: what can they do to you or me that is worse than them doing the same to the entire country? To our kids and grandkids? Please. Some spine would go nice right about now.

I am not advocating violence, though I am advocating discussing certain hypotheticals and preparing for others.

That way, if force becomes their modus operandi, we won't be standing around unprepared for them to just come pick up one-at-a-time. An organized affront will always prevail over a bunch of frightened individuals. Remember the old Clint movies where 7 or 8 bad guys ride into town, and start shooting up the place and raping the women while scores of citizens peer from behind their curtains shaking?

A handful of cretins hold a town of several-hundred hostage because nobody had thought to devise a simple plan of effective, united resistance "just in case". You watch the movie, horrified and enraged, thinking to yourself "Why don't you all just plug the bastards?!"

Let's don't go there. We're way too smart, right?

;-/

Would that be the same Medicare that is now broke, and will be thrown in the meat grinder to pay for ObamaCare?
