As I have been writing since January 2009, I feel that Sarah Palin would be perfectly suited for that position. If she runs for President, there is going to be a schism among conservatives, especially when considering her campaigning for John McCain over J.D. Hayworth. I understand the trite excuse about her "owing" McCain something... That is just more of the nonsensical thinking that got us into this debacle. If anything, Palin should have stayed out of that Senate race in deference to McCain. To endorse McCain and campaign against the conservative in the race is inexcusable, especially considering his lifelong betrayal of conservative principles (until he learned some conservative rhetoric last campaign).
We will have factions for Palin, for Huckabee, for Romney, for Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and perhaps Fred Thompson (not likely). They will split the conservative vote so that we will give the nomination to the candidate we all loathe, the liberal candidate, which we WILL secure by our inability to coalesce. That is the ONLY way John McCain could have won this nomination. The same thing happened with Dole in 1996.”)..."

You mean Palin heading the RNC? It seems like a great role for her. Id rather see her rallying the troops, gathering crowds and raising dough than debating Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric.
I think Sarah would be awesome as chairma’am of the RNC. She could do a lot to try to turn the party around, and we have a desperate need for that.
She could mold the RNC into her own image, instead of Michael Steele’s.

I don’t think that’d be a good match for her. That job needs a quite efficient fund raiser. Emphasis on quiet.
Steele is a eunuch and must be replaced ASAP, IMO.
I’d rather Palin run in 2012, so I’m not pushing for her to have at role as RNC chair. That being said, I think that the old conception of that job has been “quiet fundraiser”. It’s possible that a better role for the RNC chair would be “Conservative cheerleader”. I think the funds would raise themselves if Americans could really grasp what the Conservative movement is all about. Steele has done an incredibly bad job of boosting the movement.
Michael Steele was the first affirmative action RNC chairman because the main reason he was picked is because he is black like Obama and not because of his top leadership skills and his finely tuned political senses.
Listening to a fill in for Dennis Prager the other day, and he was saying the same thing. He said we don’t need a star in there, but a quiet, basically unknown manager.
Palin doesn’t owe McCain anything-—I don’t think she was waiving her hand like Horshak in “Welcome Back Kotter” -—ooh,ooh, pick me pick me. He needed a woman-—and she outshined him-—much to his chagrin.
