If that last sentence surprises you, then you're not aware of the fact that the Obama administration is planning to force us to register our homes, just like our cars, and get them inspected by an authorized agent of the DOE in order to get an "Inspection Label" for the home.

If the gov wants to come in and point out how a home/building can be more energy efficient, I don’t mind that, but unless they are paying for the upgrades, that is where it should stop.

Maybe I used a bad choice of words. Not being an expert in the latest conservation equipment, I’m just sayin I don’t mind getting some counsel on it. Luckily, I have a small ranch style home with mostly new appliances and I am about 80% in the use of those new bulbs, so I don’t imagine I can do much more.
does this in any way tie into Obama’s buddy Jeffrey Immelt developing remote controlled smart appliances that can be shut off by the govt? (sarcasm)

Don’t be fooled. They won’t come out just to point at stuff. Once they show up, you will be changing it and paying for it. Most likely under the threat of condemning it, or fines or jail.
I have figured out a way around this. When we sell the house, it doesn’t included any appliances. We are giving away the appliances, etc. If the new owner wants them, fine. If the new owner doesn’t want them...haul them off the property.
Screw this administration and the horses it rode in on.

I expect that appliances would be the least of the issues. They’ll target whole HVAC systems, building materials, insulation, etc.
They’ll claim to be looking at energy efficiency, but will be noting the presence of interesting items such as firearms, backup generators, stocks of food and water, panic rooms, survival literature, anything considered a potential threat to the regime.
