This is Confederate Memorial Day in North Carolina
The Silent Majority ^ | 05-10-10 | J. D. Longstreet

Every year, when spring rolls around, you can count on numerous articles in the mainstream media, and elsewhere, reviling the Confederacy, and so-called Neo-Confederates, the Confederate Battle flag, Proclamations of Confederate History Month, etc, etc, … ad infinitum.

It never fails that Southerners are branded as slavers over and over, and readers are told how vile, and nasty, and ignorant, and just plain E V I L we Southerners are. Most of the ruminations by these writers and commentators are just plain garbage not backed up by REAL history but underwritten by revisionist history. In plain English -- it is BOVINE SCATOLOGY!

I know what I am about to attempt to tell you will fall on mostly deaf ears because many of you anti-Southerners don’t want to hear it, will not hear it, and will continue to deny the truth simply because the facts do not fit your life’s template. TOUGH!

People don’t think Southerners should be able to honor their heritage but most of them are simply misguided.

Well, good luck with this. Nobody will believe it, despite the historical papers etc.

The War of Northern Aggression was, mostly, about taxes and control. The slavery issue was a sideshow IMO.

As far as Dem vs Rebuplican on the issue, we can look to somewhat more recent history - and LBJ's infamous quote.

People should read the entire linked article. They would see that the war was to preserve something called the “Union,” even when an entire region wanted out. No wonder Baraq Hussein Obama admires old Abe Lincoln. If the North really cared about the rights of nonwhite people, then why did noted Union generals like Custer and Sheridan, having finished off Southern self-determination and States’ rights, devote the remainder of their careers to genocidal warfare against Indians? (At least the Sioux rid us of the boastful scum which was Custer).

Exactly.

Of course, most school children outside of Dixie don’t learn this because the Lincoln myth propagators have completely ingrained their propaganda to a point that most non-Southerners accept it as Gospel truth.

William Tecumseh Sherman-—like a dose of salts through Georgia!
Reb genny goes north to cut off his supply line, masterminding the situation, so Sherman decides,
“We’ll just kill and eat everything we see.”

Sherman was a war criminal. It’s really that simple.

he sure woulda been by today's standards

he did offer good terms though to his credit

i think he had issues

if one must credit a decent Union general

it would be George Thomas....

gee...wonder why?
