Obama bows to Stalin and The Great Patriotic War

It is amazing to see how happy and glowing Barack Obama is every time he has talks with Russia. It is nauseating!

America just got over the fact that he took his daughters on a trip of all places to Moscow the first time he step foot there. What kind of American father-in-chief takes his kids on vacation to Russia? What do you tell the kids: Here is Kremlin; some of the worst dictators and mass-murderers in the history of the world walked in these hallways? Did Obama explain this to his kids? They looked pretty happy running in the hallways of Kremlin. Here girls: Daddy always wanted to show you the greatness of… Russia. President Obama’s equalizing the World War II with the ‘the Great Patriotic War’ was the latest in the string of weird moments where the US place in the history was downgraded to be equal to the Soviet’s

Those of us who grew up in the USSR know how the Soviets thought the history of the WWII – ‘The Great Patriotic War.’ It was all about the greatness of the Soviets. Every kid was thought how (to quote Obama) ‘the Russian people suffered and sacrificed so much’. It is true. Every family had a loved one who died during the war (some in the war – some in the Stalin’s prisons and labor camps).

The Americans were portrayed in the textbooks like: those imperialists that dropped the nuclear bomb. Obama had a chance to plug in a history lesson for the Russians who tend to distort the history for propaganda purposes. But no – he went to appease them again.

Well, I took my kids to Wrigley Field and local museums when they were old enough to apprecrate the places I thought highly of. So this behavior by Obama does not seem strange to me; just different priorities.

Why shouldn’t Obama “bow down to Stalin”? He’s bowed down to everyone else, so why miss this chance to keep his record going?

If Russia were a free country back then, there would have not been a GPW.

I do not hesitate to give the Russian public and military full credit for their sacrifice. Stalin was just a butcher who occupied the Kremlin at the time.

Solzhenitsyn says it better then me.
When I was listening to Obama speaking yesterday it felt like I was listening to my high school history teacher in the USSR who of course was the secretary of the school teachers communist organization. It is insulting and ridiculous.
I bet it was not his speech writer, but Obama himself who put the Great Patriotic War in his prepared remarks.

The Russian people were valiant and resourceful; their troubled monarchy was eclipsed by marxists rather more easily than our government, no doubt due to our faith, unity and capitalistic burgeoning economy. The Russian Orthodox church didn’t have the fire to withstand the onslaught, yet it survived vestigially.

100 years later, nearly, we face the same music. the engine of economic growth is faltering, the church is a quaint memory for much of the populace. We are now ripe for the harvest.

They took a Stalin statue down today in his hometown.

Maybe they can put an Obama statue up in place of it. ;-)
