I noticed several items on the list that seemed rather . . . . . er, DUBIOUS to say the least.

IMO, the English version of Pravda is different from the Russian version only in the fact that it can be read by Americans. Other than that, Pravda is still the Russian counterpart of the New York Times and even dead fish are begging to NOT be wrapped in the New York Times!!!

Yeah, it’s bad, and before you know it, we’ll be Russia.

“Pravda” == “truth.”
“Izvestiya” “delivered messages” == “news.”

Old Soviet quip:

“In Izvestia there is no Pravda. In Pravda there is no Izvestia.”

There is a simple statistical/factual reason why the average Gov employee make more than the avg. private sector worker.

The US Government doesn’t hire at the bottom of the wage scale. The grass is cut by contractors (private sector jobs) the buildings are cleaned by contractors, the food in the cafeteria is cooked and served by contractors. The security guards are contractors.

It's Pravda. Of course it's not believable.

I'd put more faith in an article from Pravda or Tass that I would anything from major media in this country.

(#7) Right now, interest on the U.S. national debt and spending on entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare are somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 15 percent of GDP. By 2080, they are projected to eat up approximately 50 percent of GDP.

I draw SS and I am sick of it being called an entitlement. I worked and paid into SS ever since I was 16 freakin' yrs old. So did my husband. Now we are being accused of taking welfare. Thats not the way it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be that they held our money till we retire then give it back to us in monthly checks. I don't care if we live longer and draw more money than we paid in. Lots of people die and never draw a dime. It all is supposed to balance out. Maybe the government spending our SS money is why there isn't enough to go around yet we senior citizens get accused of hurting the economy for taking our own money!

That’s an interesting point. Was the 2x figure arrived at by looking at the gross average private versus govt worker wage/salary or was it more of a categorical comparison — i.e. govt secretaries vs private secretaries, and govt engineers versus private engineers, etc. If it’s only looking at the whole lump rather than breaking it into categories, then I think your point is good. If it’s a comparison by categories, then I think the discrepancy is real.

Yeah, and that’s the scary part. I don’t believe everything in Pravda, but I don’t believe anything in the US media.

Sounds like "Honest" John's Used Cars.

If you have to say it, you are not.

Leave it to others to say about you because if you have to claim it, you don't have it..
