Katie Couric interviewed Dan Stein, President of FAIR, who believes that illegal immigration is very bad for the American economy. Had watched the video, but the one thing that was MISSING was the need for the enforcement of the borders by the feds. This is why states like AZ is doing the work that the feds ought, but refuse to do, ENFORCE the southern border.

Three total in the 20th century, not including Reagan who got railroaded into AMNESTY in exchange for border security, of which the Democrats in Congress never provided.

So don’t say it can’t be done, deporting only takes the will to do so. And the best reason is American unemployment.

I'm a contractor in southern California. I have personally witnessed the occaisional instance when the INS has come on to construction projects. When that happened the Mexican workers scattered like cockroaches. Why would they run if they were legal?

I'll be retiring soon. It's hard to make a living any more when your competition hires ILLEGAL scum for a fraction of what qualified tradesmen make and deserve.

Anyone who says ILLEGALS are not taking jobs from Americans need only ask the countless 2nd and 3rd generation tradesmen who are unemployed because of it.

Construction obs used to some of the better paying labor jobs. Lots of unskilled labor workers raised their families working construction. Now the Mexicans have all the construction jobs. Same with roofing and landscaping. I raised my four kids working in housekeeping in a nursing home. Now Mexicans have those jobs almost exclusively. Of course they are taking our jobs.

I am told by my midwest friends that there are gardening jobs and entry level food service and retail jobs for teens and college kids. Not here in Southern California.

A contractor where I live won the contract to build a big new Social Security Office Building. They hired illegals to work for them. They had the building frame done and one night about midnight there was a really loud crash. The new office building being paid for by the taxpayers, was nothing but a broken pile of sticks. Their work is shoddy. I have worked with them. I have seen it firsthand. The older employees where I worked were told to go along behind them and fix their work and keep our mouths shut.

In the 70's my older brother worked 40+ hours a week cleaning empty vats at a cheese factory. He came home every night stinking of rotten milk and our mother made him strip off his clothes on the backporch and put the clothes into the washer which was on the porch and wear a towel into the house so he could shower. He would have to use use fels naptha soap to get the smell out of his hair and off his skin. At the end of summer he threw his clothes away. He did this for 5 summers. He taught guitar lessons and tutored while he was at school and only took out 1 student loan during his last semester for only a few hundred dollars and he got his degree in chemical engineering/nuclear engineering/metalurgy.

There are no jobs like this now for smart people to work to pay for their education. But, you always hear about all the jobs no American will do. I don't believe it.

There are no jobs Americans won't do. Just look at one of the top rated shows on DSC, Worlds Deadliest Catch, not too many illegals doing that. There are, however, low wages and bad conditions Americans won't work for. In this country we've fought hard so workers don't have to work under turd world conditions while living 20 people in a house built for 6. The so called "Dream Act" will take those gains away.
