Mitt Romney's the favorite at this early stage in a couple key Republican primary states: Florida and Nevada.

Romney came up short in Florida last time, but for now Republicans in the state prefer him to the other leading potential 2012 candidates. Romney gets 31% with Palin and Gingrich tied for second at 23% and Huckabee and Paul further back at 15% and 6% respectively.

These numbers are good news for Romney and bad news for Huckabee and Palin...

Wikipedia: "Public Policy Polling (PPP) is an Americn, Democratic-Party affiliated polling firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. PPP was founded in 2001 by businessman and Democratic pollster Dean Debnam, the firm's current president and chief executive officer..."

"The neutrality of PPP's surveys have been questioned since the firm's private clients are exclusively Democratic-affiliated organizations, and because surveys on health care reform have included polarizing questions such as if respondents think President Barack Obama is the "AntiChrist"

Will Democrats and the state run media try to steer GOP voters to Romney, like they did with McCain?

You can never tell about the scientific nature of polls. In this case...they might have asked sixty folks at a Red Lobster what they thought. I’d be curious to see how Newt goes against Palin and Romney in a poll.

And it all depends upon who is conducting the poll, too.

When you consider the unending criticism against her in the SRM aided by anonymous establishment GOP romney strategists and the daily, weekly overt sneering at her by fox news “anchors” and their “contributors” and their unabashed attempts to diminish her and promote romney, Palin’s numbers really aren’t that bad.

if the media had to power back then, then they have the power to do it with romney, until republican voter wise up and not let the media run the show. The fact that even some freepers are concerned for Palin’s negative are an example of how the media has worked on these individuals

Well, clearly it’s Romney’s turn in 2012, like it was McCain’s turn last time, and W’s turn in 2000, and Dole’s turn in 1996. /s

Romney is only in the "race", to throw each election to Obama (like 2008).

RomneyCARE neutralizes ObamaCARE.
Romney support of illegals neutralizes Obama's.
Romney's parents of Mexican birth neutralize the Obama absent birth certificate issue.
Romney's destruction of Massachusetts neutralizes Obama's destruction of America.
Romney's destruction of the Mass. Constitution to impose gay marriage neutralizes Obama's destruction of the US Constitution.

And by making the carpetbagging backstabber the candidate,
given that Team Romney attacked Gov Palin and handicapped child
during Election 2008 to throw the election to Obama,
most Americans would agree that the GOP would not deserve to win, anyway.

Sorry, I find nothing “inspiring” about Romney. Guaranteed an Obama win should Romney be the nominee. Just IMHO.

Wikipedia though is probably a less trustworthy source than PPP.

Unfortunately for pollsters, the public realizes that polls are mostly inaccurate and the true poll occurs at the voting booth.

Wikipedia=liberal

PPP=Democratic Party affilated

Liberal site rips Democratic affiliated polling firm.

Gotta love it.

Hard for liberals to use the excuse that Wikipedia is a “right-wing rag” attacking PPP.

And if liberals want to rip into Wikipedia to defend PPP, that’s just a bonus.

:)

Nice try by the Dems, but PPP takes its orders from Obama and the White House. And everyone knows it. Obama is dying to run against Romney.

Sorry, Barack. You can line up all the phony PPP polls you want. You are going to face Sarah Palin, my man, and she is going to eject you from the White House with a crash. Enjoy your last two years. Oh, and you might want to brush up on your knowledge about subpoenas. You are going to need it

I think Romney has negligible support among Republicans, this “polling” notwithstanding.
