Every Day Sarah Palin Gets Closer to Being President

Sarah Palin’s going to run for president.

She is running. Hers is the most long-term dedicated campaign since Ronald Reagan left the governorship of California in 1975 and became a full-time presidential aspirant.

Notably, the very act of running doesn’t cost her resources, but creates resources for her. She’s self-sustaining. Every day her organization builds and her reach expands. The more she runs the more inevitable she is.

In a nutshell, the system, meant to filter out the oddballs, has allowed one in. Never before has someone so outside the mainstream of political conventions had such good national prospects. She’s a classic third-party candidate who, given the organizational benefits of an early and dedicated candidacy, the fundraising advantages of a narrowly targeted base, and the boon of her preternatural access to the media, might easily become a major party candidate. And, given the Republican party’s built-in near-50% share of the voting public, she’s as likely to become the next president as anyone.

Many things could, of course, derail her. Not least of all if the opposition comes up with a way to effectively characterize her distance from political norms. So far this has been a problem, though, because part of her attractiveness is that distance, and, too, she is distant in ways that are themselves not normal and hard to characterize. Her extremism is not so much fanatical as it is kooky—or even comical. The worst thing that can be said about her, so far, is that she is not too smart—wily, but dumb. In a nation that, arguably, has become progressively dumber (or, at least, less interested in what used to be considered smart), this isn’t much of a liability. The real annoyance, even perhaps more than her inchoate conservatism (arguably, no more inchoate than George Bush’s), is her tastelessness. That, too, is hard for the opposition to express—other than in a fumfering way.

The threat for her is that the Republican establishment, which finds her as dumb and tasteless as the Democrats do, will come up with some stolid figure of conservative probity. But saying it that way highlights the problem of competing against an original, vivid, and always engaging outsider. Possibly a Republican congressional sweep will give the Republican mainstream new resolve. But, as likely, Sarah Palin will take credit for that success—and she might deserve it.

It’s happening, which is extraordinary.

One thing I can say about Sarah Palin, she evokes a rage in liberals that I’ve never seen before. They loathed Reagan, they loathed W, but I would need to invent a new word to describe the depth of their hatred for Sarah Palin.

I think that is precisely why I like her so much...I giggle like schoolgirl anytime liberals get really pissed off. Remember folks anger is almost always disguised fear. The number one rhetorical question: why are they so frightened by her?

Haha you really, really care too much. Either you’re a fraud or you’re a heart attack on its way. Cheers. It’s easier.

Very much I remember that AFTER he was elected. Some before but not comparable to the saturation we see today.

But you should take into account the addition of the 24 hour news cycle.

They need to fill more airtime now.

Exactly! Trashing Ron's children wasn't done on a 24 hour clock... just a couple of minutes in the half hour evening news. Whereas today... cable channels, Youtube, Twitter...non-stop.

This thing oozes like a puss filled septic wound with elitist condescension. I hope she runs and pour salt into that wound. I hope she also wins and grinds said salt to the nerve.

WTF language is he using?

Liberals are insecure because they lack an authentic identity. They choose words (usually from a thesaurus) to cover up for their lack of ability, accomplishments and general insecurity. It is their way of putting up a strong condescending persona to ward off attacks. This idiot lacks a logical reason to dislike Sarah Palin. So he creates this ephemeral reality around her and attacks her intelligence while ignoring her real world accomplishments. Accomplishments that would crush the fragile facade of reality this worthless excrement exists in.

Best to you too, sincerely. I'm just gearing up for what looks like 2012 amping into to a battle royale. I tend to overheat when I get in that mood. These guys in the White House have alot on the line, and they never, ever play fair. Have a great night.

I do not dislike Palin. Really. But I just don’t see this happening. Her voice and manner of speech would drive most people bonkers over time. Petty? Yes. But true.

You know what really drives people nuts?

Obamacare, open borders, 10% unemployment and a trillion dollar "stimulus".

Lots of us are waiting for a rematch between Sarah and the mean media..................by ourselves we can not nominate or elect her. The rest of the gang has to be impressed too.

Her goal is to reach the public, not impress the media. She is reaching Republicans right now with the highest approval of all potential candidates. This is the time to set the groundwork to get the Republican nomination, not win a general election. We have two years to do that.

If we are realistic we have to admit that voters don’t kick out an administration lightly. If in 2012, the economy has recovered, the world is at peace with the respect of the US at a high point, illegal immigration halted and unemployment below 5%, then Obama will be hard to beat. Given his policies, this is very unlikely, but it’s his administration that gets the report card.

Our job is to nominate a candidate who will take the fight to Obama, a person who will talk about his socialist and Marxist appointments, his glaring mistakes, and his failure to take action, his destruction of the free market, a person who will not back down for fear of losing their membership in the ruling class.

Socialism is based on lies. It can not stand up to the truth when confronted. Most of all we need a candidate who will speak the truth and confront the lies. Ronald Reagan did it and so will Sarah Palin.

Thanks for sharing the peace pipe with me. You’re right, the guys in the White House have a lot on the line and never play fair. We also have a lot on the line and eventually we’re going to have to “join or die”. I don’t wear my heart on my sleeve for any politician right now but rest assured, when the time comes, if she’s there, I’ll be there too. It’s never my intent to oppose any candidate by pointing out challenges. They all have them and we need to have our eyes wide open. Peace to you and I wish you every success.

I believe it simply de rigeur that especially in the hurly-burly of heated political discourse we agree that we must, with aught but the greatest of personal respect and affection, slice off each others' noses with straight razors. :-)

Blow those mangos through your Jekyl and Hyde swiss chard ... said with the greatest Al Frankin respect of course, my distinguished colleague.. ;-) But seriously friend, what am I going to say when all these independents in New England tell me Sarah Palin supporters are a mob of nasty rapid zealots? Sure they’re mushy moderates who can’t take a punch but they do vote and last time they voted for a seemingly nice guy they didn’t even know.

I see several people here who think Sarah needs to confront the MSM anchors and beat them at their own game.

Why?

Right now, with just an occasional comment on Facebook, she’s getting her message out to more people than watch Katie or any other so-called “anchor”. With the added exposure she gets on Fox News no one in either political party can remain unaware of her or her political messages. Think “cojones” and I believe you’ll see what I mean. Believe me, we here on the ‘net weren’t the only ones who heard or saw that verbal jap-slap administered to the “One”. I’m sure it’s been around the world a couple of times already and may see some air-time again in 2012.

Tell them that not only are the Palin supporters a pack of rabid zealots, but that we enthusiastically embrace that fact, and that we are coming for them. That they should cherish every second of the brief time they have left on the American political tableau, because the end of their reign is flying at them like a downhill locomotive.

Tell them that it's the Palinistas who put the "loco" in locomotive.

:-)

Yeah, that’ll work. :-)
