Gingrich's Ex-Wife: "There's No Way" Newt Can Win If He Runs For President

Marianne Gingrich interview with esquire magazine

politicalticker As Newt Gingrich continues to signal his intention to run for president in 2012, his ex-wife says she finds it inconceivable the former Republican House Speaker has any chance of winning the White House.

"There's no way," Marianne Gingrich tells Esquire Magazine in a profile of the ex-Republican leader posted on the magazine's website Tuesday. "He could have been president. But when you try and change your history too much, and try and recolor it because you don't like the way it was or you want it to be different to prove something new ... you lose touch with who you really are. You lose your way."

But Marianne, who was married to Gingrich from 1981-1999, says her former husband might just have the right mentality to launch a White House bid, even if victory is far-fetched.

"He believes that what he says in public and how he lives don't have to be connected," she tells the magazine. "If you believe that, then yeah, you can run for president."

Marianne also says her former husband is a self-conscious man who "grew up poor and always wanted to be somebody, to make a difference, to prove himself.""He has to be historic to justify his life," she tells the magazine

Yes! Thank you Mrs. Ex. I wonder if the other Ex’s will make statements too. He does like to collect Ex Wives doesn’t he. He is anti-family values if you ask me.

That line says it all about Newt

"Mrs. Gingrich #2 was dumped after her husband had carried on an extramarital affair with a fetching, blond congressional staffer named Callista Bisek, who went on to become the present Mrs. Gingrich #3. This Family Values paradigm was complicated by the fact that whilst Mr. Gingrich was filibustering Ms. Bisek over the Speaker’s desk, he was simultaneously leading the impeachment charge against a naughty president of the United States....The much-married Newt Gingrich converts to Catholicism this weekend—and I’d pay a year’s salary to have been a bug on the wall during his religious instruction."

Seems to be an honest, fair and realistic assessment of Newt.

She may be right.

That being said, I always likes Newt. I think he is one of the only people on our team who was the right combination of ideas and inspiration.

But....I think he has blown it.

For my own reasons....I could not agree with her more.

We simply do not need any more tired, old, white men with records of past "mis-deeds" whose time has long since expired claiming that they should be president.

If this failure is the best the rinos can do, then they are in far worse shape than most of us suspected.

Exactly who does this guy think is his "base"???
Blacks? Latinos? Asians? Women? Conservatives? Libs? Muslims?

Heck, most wouldn't go to a book signing by him if he were buying the books!!

Newt....GO AWAY!

One other FReeper said on a recent thread — and I agree — that Newt’s presence in the GOP pack will spur his opponents to bring their “A” game. Newt carries a LOT of baggage, but is undeniably whip-smart, and his fellow Republican candidates will benefit in the long run.

You know, your sins find you out.

I’ve always liked Newt. I don’t always agree with him, but he is one of the few politicians in DC to have ideas, not just business as usual.

I also like that he understands American philosophy, something that people don’t nowadays, and IMHO is what is to blame for the slide to the left in the country.

I had the same thought. Maybe Huckabee would be last.

Newt is a creep. I like Sean Hannity as a person but he sucks up to idiots and RINOs like Newt. Sean also gets these black callers on his show that ramble on about nonsense.
