Today co-anchor Matt Lauer traveled to New Orleans, on Friday, to mark the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and interviewed the likes of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, former FEMA Director Mike Brown, current Democratic Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, but saved any sort of direct shots at George W. Bush for his interview with Laura Bush.

My reply would have been “The only ones that I have seen or heard make such claims were the liberal television media, liberal print media, a Democrat Mayor and a gangster rapper. These same people would have found something to be critical of no matter what the reaction would have been.”
Laura was being facetious - the new “president” blames Bush for everything. Notice that Laura says, first, “the President takes the blame in any situation”, which makes reference to the “as we can see now with the new president.”
AND the word President is capitalized in its first mention, but NOT in the last.

The capitalization appears in the Newsbusters transcript; she really didn’t stop and say “CAPITAL P PRESIDENT” and “lower case p president.”

Now, Katrina was a different matter.
The locals are supposed to act in a calamity. The federales acted quickly enough while the locals were stepping on each other due to their advanced stages of ineptitude.
The locals are so morally and mentally inept that after five years they’re still wining and gnashing their teeth over why some bureaucrat didn’t come in, swamp out the house, replace all damaged goods, feed them, wipe their bums, etc. etc,, that they’re still having nightmares about the disaster and will for the rest of their lives as long as Uncle Stupid has coins in his purse.
Local governments need to take care of disaster, FEMA, ATF need to be disbanded and those ‘working’ in those bureaucracies need to get out and find a job commensurate with their ability, like frying hamburgers and carrying out the trash.

I haven’t trashed Laura Bush. She has trashed herself and convicted herself of liberalism with her own words!
The credit I give Laura is that she kept her mouth shut during the eight years as first lady.
There are several degrees of political affiliation.
There are leftists and liberals, moderates (who stand for nothing), conservatives and right wing conservatives. I classify myself in the last category.

Cheney quickly joined the CFR and the Trilateralists after he was finished representing Wyoming in Congress.
Laura didn’t speak up much while her husband was in office, but now she has out in favor of gay marriage and she’s pro-choice.
I imagine her husband’s views are actually much closer to hers than he ever let on during his presidency. The base must be appeased, and to do that you’ve got to tow the socially conservative line.
I think there are better, deeper and more fundamentally important things to be ‘socially conservative’ about – like valuing hard work, slashing the federal government and spending, locking up the border and deporting ALL illegal aliens.
