First Lady Michelle Obama visited the Gettysburg Battlefield with her daughters Wednesday, according to the National Park Service.
GNMP Supt. Bob Kirby reported that Obama "travelled here on her own personal time earlier today to spend private time touring the park with her children."
Mrs. Obama was reportedly here for two hours, around lunch time.
Kirby noted that "we respected her request for privacy and we appreciate everybody's support to help make it happen."
she took her daughter to Annapolis and the Capitol one day.
then they went to Monticello another day in august.
so this is just another check list item.
plus what else would you do if you had 20 aides to plan day trips like
this for you?

The visit may have been the kids’ idea and Mama was just accommodating them. That may be why it was so low key.....but it hits the news the same day? Go figure.

Maybe the kids wanted to learn more about that "Gettysburg Address" that Glenn Beck read Saturday....?
She just didn’t want to be photographed with her girls in the usual vacation hairdo’s. Pulled back in a bun. This way — no hairdresser, no problem.
Honestly, I have never been able to take a vacation since I go married & had kids.
I mean even the slaves realized it, and were Republicans for 100 years.

Doubtful. It may have been site suggested by a history teacher at the school they attend to visit over summer vacation. We’ll never know.
I was convinced by the title of this thread that it was Laura Bush who visited Gettysburg. My bad! Although I haven’t and probably never will accept the wussie and wookie as president and first lady. Maybe the first wookie. I can handle that.
Its just another day of vacation for her disguised as a history lesson. Gee, why don’t they fund a site seeing tour for the lower income kids so they can enjoy some of America’s history. Naw, they’re too selfish and entitled to think of something like that. Its all for them and their kids.

You can’t even appreciate one-eighth of the National cemetary at Gettysburg in 2 hours. This is laughable.
