Ground Zero Mosque Imam: No, This Isn’t a Mosque, It’s an Islamic YMCA…

"...Imam Rauf’s project is better known here now as the “Ground Zero mosque,” after the term for the World Trade Center site. Families of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and conservative politicians have mounted an emotional campaign to block it, claiming that locating it only two blocks north of the site was a provocation.

“We repeatedly say we are neither a mosque nor within Ground Zero, but they just shout back ‘Ground Zero mosque,’ ‘Ground Zero mosque,’” Imam Rauf, 61, told Reuters in an interview. The planned building will have a prayer room for Muslims, he said, but it would only be a small part of the 13-story complex.

Imam Rauf said the YMCA, which began in London in 1844 as Christian center for young working men and quickly spread to the United States and other countries, had long worked to promote understanding across religious, ethnic and social dividing lines in modern societies. Now called simply “the Y,” its facilities across the United States offer exercise classes, education and community activities.

“We are trying to establish something that follows the YMCA concept but is not a church or a synagogue or, in this case, a mosque,” he said by telephone from Kuala Lumpur, where he is visiting. “We are taking that concept and adapting it to our time and the fact that we’re Muslims. It’s basically a Muslim Y.”

I visit liberal websites (got a lovely pink hazmat suit!) and I've been noticing a new meme the past few weeks or so--the Ground Zero Mosque is NOT a 'mosque' any more, in fact, it never WAS a mosque, just a small area where Muslims can 'pray'...now I remember reading the "FAQ/Frequently Asked Questions" page on the cordobainitiative.org website several months ago which described the 'non-mosque' as a mosque back then (unfortunately didn't get a screen grab, darn it) occupying the entire 13th floor???? Can't remember now, but there was definitely talk about a mosque being built there. Now, it's "just" 'a prayer space', nothing more than that?

Did a google search and found this Weasel Zippers article from a few weeks ago, guess I'm not the only one to notice this 'non-mosque' business too! So since it's a 'non-mosque', there won't be PA announcements calling believers to prayer 5 times a day? Isn't that some sort of rule though, that the mosque (oops, 'non-mosque'!) must call believers to prayers verbally? I found a 'rule' section for praying in Islam here (Rules of Namaz (Part II of III))but there's so many darn rules it's confusing and I'm not sure what would apply to 'just' a prayer place like the one being built by the Cordoba Initiative...

From cordobainitiative.org's FAQ page:

Why are you building “a mosque near Ground zero?”

Strictly speaking, it will not be a “mosque,” although it would have a prayer space on one of its 15 floors. At the beginning, no one considered the fact that Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf Abdul Rauf’s current mosque is 12 blocks from the Ground Zero site, while the Park51 Community Center location is only 2 and one-half blocks away. We never discussed wanting to be close to Ground Zero; our goal was to find a good real estate opportunity for a community center. 51 Park seemed to fit the bill.

“We repeatedly say we are neither a mosque nor within Ground Zero, but they just shout back ‘Ground Zero mosque,’ ‘Ground Zero mosque,’”

For far too long we’ve let the other side control the dialogue, right down to how things are labelled.

You don’t like it being called “Ground Zero Mosque”? Too freaking bad.

Here’s a way you can punish us for our awful lack of acceptance—LEAVE. That’ll show us.

"Ground Zero Mosque Imam: No, This Isn’t a Mosque, It’s an Islamic YMCA…"

Excellent, then this removes any nonsense arguments about seperation of Church and State.

Move the Islamic "YMCA" some place else!

Case Closed.

Haven't there been a couple articles about Muslim homosexual pedophilia in the “real” news lately?

The so-called “YMCA” concept of the GROUND ZERO MOSQUE (and piss on anyone who want to re-label it) would be an excellent cover for that perverted activity.

The problem is ISLAM. And they are going to successfully use our own Constitution against us to poison America with Wahhabism just as they did to destroy Britain. Just as misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment has created untold millions of anchor babies to suck dry our social services and bankrupt our hospitals and schools, so will a dangerous ideology masquerading as a religion will use the 1st Amendment to establish an unshakable foothold upon our shores.

It cannot be stopped, at least not the way it is being fought at this time. Sooner or later we will lose this way. But if Wahhabism could be banned...

These sanitized names for the building are yet one more instance of Islamic propagandists using nomenclature of Western society to lull and do in the West. “Why, we’re nothing more than a YMCA and a JCC,” the imam and CAIR say.

Will Christians and Jews be full members, as they are in YMCAs and JCCs? Will Christians wear crosses and Jews skull caps? The last I looked there were no prayers going on at YMCAs or JCCs.

The Islamists in Western facade are saying whatever it takes to get their Victory over the Infidel building built. The very name, “Cordoba Project” tells us straight that this building is meant to rub the West’s noses right into this smelly mound of architecture.

Telling whopper lies and seeing how many fools they can fool is part of their fun in subduing those who differ from their violence loving tyrannical movement clocked in the name of religion.

It's not supposed to be a “mosque”. It's going to be a celebratory monument to their blow against the Great Satan and the infidels. The guy who had the idea of a gay bar next door to it needs to be congratulated, I think. Maybe a strip club on the other side.

It’s an Islamic YMCA…

That would be YMMA and would be pronounced "umma."

As someone say, a test would be to ask the Imam if men and women will be allowed to swim together? Or will the women be segregated to another time or area?

The Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow (MLT) project, in cooperation with the group ASMA and the ex mayor of Aspen Colorado is probably what Imam Feisal Rauf is describing as his "YMCA."

It was incorporated in NY in April 2009.

And it held its first conference overseas, a mix of "moderate" mulim leaers as well as muslim brotherhood members and supporters of Hamas.

Al-Gamal’s group declares, “We are trying to establish a full fledged Islamic Center in the lower Manhattan, only 2 blocks from World Trade Center, New York City, NY. It is a neat and clean facility and can accomodate [sic] 1,000 people to pray in Jamat [i.e. collectively] at one time.”

St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York
It can accommodate 2,200 people
