Not only did Steve Schmidt tell Sam Stein of the Huffington Post that “gay marriage is a conservative cause,” but he went on to up the ante even more. Schmidt, who is famously known as a being a failure for John McCain and being jealous of Sarah Palin’s hair, launched a missile at the Republican Party, declaring that “it’s hip to be queer.”

“More and more,” fired Schmidt, I hear conservatives are saying that opposition to gay marriage is good. But that’s a crock of crap! Conservatives need to wake up and smell what they’re shoveling! Metro sexual is a thing of the past. It’s hip to be queer, baby! This isn’t just a conservative cause…it’s an American cause, as American as mom, apple pie and baseball. America just needs a good poke in the rear!”

Best line of the season in True Blood a few weeks ago.

Lafeyettes Mom (who is committed for life to a mental hosp) is needing calming so the Hosp. Aide (gay and now hooked up with Lafeyette,male gay too) says to the Mom “Let’s watch some tv?”

She hollars back (southern Christian sistah style) at him and says “ I ain’t watchin’ no tay vay all dat’s on there anymoe is Fags n Ho’s!”

Cracked me up, she speaks truth though.

So I wonder when being Queer is not hip in pop culture anymore what will replace it?

Like ever other fad, which Ads to sell stuff latches onto, this shall pass too, but what’s next? Any guesses?
