With less than a month until Election Day and hours before their first debate, Connecticut's Republican candidate for the US Senate Linda McMahon's campaign has released a scathing new ad attacking her Democratic opponent Richard Blumenthal's lies about serving in Vietnam. While this issue may be old news to political junkies who were paying attention when the story first broke in May, video in the new ad of Mr. Blumenthal claiming he served in Vietnam when the truth is he did not will most like be seen for the first time by many Connecticut voters.

I guess it is ‘scathing’ because it is done by an R against a D.

I think its a fair topic, but the ad doesn’t seem terribly effective. It just says the same thing over and over again. It’s not clear to me that CT voters will care. If these lies were linked to a wider context (Obama: “If you like your healthcare, you’ll be able to keep it”) then showing Blumenthal to be a liar might resonate more.

Dick ... you don't mind if I call you Dick, do you?

That one's gonna leave a mark.

Proving, over and over again, that blumey is a bald faced liar, has no integrity and will say anything to enhance his position.

I've heard a few lies myself. He's just another wannabe.
Out them all, I say.

The point about which he lied is not in the least bit trivial. This is still a sore spot with a lot of people.

It’s quite right that facts like Blumenthal’s pathetic Vietman lies are well known to “political junkies”, but given the work done by the MSM to provide cover for its candidates, McMahon’s campaign MUST make certain that as many know about as possible.

Connecticut has a lot of defense contractors (submarines, helicopters, jet engines). The union-type democrats who make this stuff helped put pro-military Joe Lieberman in office over yuppie-marxist Ned Lamont.

Military honor still carries some weight here in Connecticut. These voters need to be reminded of Blumenthal’s DIShonorable lie. This ad will only tweak a point or two more for McMahon, but she doesn’t need much more.

I’m saddling up, again, here in Conn. Field, I’ve got my sights on helping to win a state rep seat here in my area vs. an old lady liberal. It’s been hard to get motivated over what sounds like small potatoes, but I would like to be part of a victory on that historic day: November 2, 2010.

A day we will recall in the future the way I still recall November 1980.

Yeah, I remember it, too, November 1980... I was 6 years old, my father took me down to the local precinct at the fire hall to vote... had me cast the ballot... yup, I recall standing astride of history and pulling the little button for, you guessed it... none other than that political giant... John Anderson.
