The SEIU, Harry Reid and Voting Problems

Did you know that the SEIU represents the voting machine technicians in Clark County (Las Vegas), Nevada? Is it any surprise, as we noted earlier today, that there was a voting glitch in Clark County, Nevada? The glitch caused Harry Reid’s name to be automatically checked on the ballot before voters had indicated who were they were supporting.

According to Joyce Ferrara who was an eyewitness to this strange ballot ordeal, the problem was widespread, “One person that’s a fluke. Two, that’s strange. But several within a five minute period of time — that’s wrong.”

It is particularly troubling that Clark County has put the uber left-wing SEIU Local 1107 in charge of their voting machines.

The agreement between the SEIU and Clark County specifically puts all voting machines under the control of the SEIU. See the collective bargaining agreement:

The County hereby recognizes the Union as the sole and exclusive collective bargaining representative of the County employees assigned to the classifications listed in Appendix A who are eligible to be represented by the Union except as limited by Section 2 of this Article. The Union shall be notified of additions to the list of classifications (Appendix A), within seven (7) days of posting for the position classification and shall receive 30 days advance notice of any deletions. Upon written request by the Union, the parties shall meet and confer regarding deletions within the 30 day notification period referenced herein. Both parties recognize that the Union retains its right to appeal under the provisions of NRS 288.170.

On page 75 of the agreement, in Appendix A, Voting Machine Technician is listed as a classified position that the SEIU represents.

What a coincidence that the voting machines in Clark County just happen to be automatically set to support the candidate that the union that represents the “voting machine technicians” supports… You vote, we decide.

This needs to be kept on the front burner.

The SEIU is a source of a lot of problems in this country. Andy Stern has been a busy little commie these last few years.

Harry Reid has a severe problem with truth and honesty.

The link to the Clark County contract with SEIU indicates that the contract expired in June of 2010.

This requires some clarification.

You are correct. However, that is the current CBA according to the Clark County government.

I thought that may be the case, but wanted to make sure. I had my earlier post removed as I did not want to go off half-cocked.

But even with the contract expiring in June, the ground work was probably laid for this to come to fruition now.

I have experience with touchscreen technology (not voting machines) and I have a few questions.

1) Did the problem occur on more than one machine?
2) Did the machines perform in essentially the same manner?
3) Did calibration of the touchscreen solve the problem?

If the answer is yes to both questions, then I’m pretty sure I know how it was done.

Touchscreens are calibrated by starting the calibration function and touching points on the screen indicated by the calibration function. It would be easy to figure out how far off to touch during calibration to shift the touchpoints one way or the other...in other words someone could figure out how to miscalibrate the machines and give instructions to others on exactly how to repeat the process.

I read into the matter further and I found in Article 43 of the CBA that the agreement exists year-to-year after the expiration as long as both parties continue with it—which was the case.

This is the problem with non paper methods of voting.

There should be no default vote. Null should be the answer until the voter decides.

Not even a default by alphabetical order (and Angle comes before Reid) is appropriate.

Unions have demolished our automobile industry, steel industry, and public schools. As Federal and state governments have become unionized under SEIU, they have become even more powerful and invulnerable. And now, it is public knowledge that SEIU has gone beyond just intimidating voters to tampering with the voting machines.

In spite of this, I don’t think the situation in hopeless. The solution is to demand that unions be unionized. Think about it. It would be embarrassing for union leaders to fight such a proposition. And once enacted, demands by the Union Union leadership for dues and pension hikes will be so drastic that SEIU either have to go out of business or outsource thuggery to countries like China, Brazil, and India. Domestic union thugs will be reduced to settling for low paying jobs like mugging pizza delivery boys.

One signature by a republican president recinding the right of federal workers to unionize, which is an executive order, and they dissappear in a puff of smoke.

Here in Arizona we have black pens and have to connect the arrow lines together for each candidate - no chads, no electronic shenanigans, just solid paperwork that is almost tamper proof. Plus, we have to show a photo id! I LOVE Arizona...
