Gov. Chris Christie Schools Shrill David Gregory on “Meet the Press” over “Bush Tax Cuts” – Video

Here is video of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Meet the Press today with David Gregory. Christie schooled David Gregory on the issue of extending the “Bush Tax Cuts” – which Christie argued is extending the current tax system rather than raising taxes in a bad economy.

It was clear Gregory did not want the Democrats’ desire not to extend the current tax structure to be characterized as a “tax increase,” and became rather shrill in his defense of the question he asked. But Christie was relentless in making clear what Obama and the Democrats are proposing is a tax increase.

yes he did raise his voice every time Gov. Christied tried to speak. Go back and view the tape again. When grgroreeee did that he had a sarcastic look on his face and raced his words and over spoke the good Gov. However, he made an A__ of himself and Gov Christie just let him rave on and on.

Hey grgoreeee next time you book a guest...make it one you can compete with like Bozo the clown. Christie is too powerful and intelligent for you to go up against. Too bad your staff didn’t warn you since you don’t have enough sense to see it yourself.

Go Gov. Christie...

Exactly. This is where Christie should have attacked. Gregory is acting like we are stealing money from the govt! Garbage! Christie did OK here, but Gregory got away with one.

ever notice that rich liberals don’t voluntarily pay the 39%

Rich liberals don't even pay the taxes they owe. John F Kerry still hasn't paid all the taxes on his yacht. He claims he never got the bill. Turbo Tax Timmy and Chuck Rangle and many others.

DO NOT BUY THE LIE OF THE DEMOCRATS - TAX CUTS “COST” THE GOVERNMENT MONEY!

You are right. Tax cuts are not a cost.

Costs are government programs, entitlements, handouts, earmarks and other various vote buying schemes that politicians use to win elections.

'Tax cuts costing the government' is merely Orwellian double speak meant for the useful idiot, hoodwinked voters.

This guy needs to run for President.

I doubt you and he actually agree on some very important issues:

Christie on 2nd Amendment:

Christie on guns

And I want to make sure that we don't have an abundance of guns out there [Foxnews:Hannity}

Christie states he will enforce New Jersey's draconion Gun laws but he personally pro-2nd Amendment. Can anyone say "Straddling the Issue" boys and girls?

New Jersey's Gun Laws

Once Gregory admits that the first answer would raise more revenue ...

I'd never assume a liberal would admit to the truth. In my opinion Gregory would say the way to increase revenues to the Government is to tax at 100%. Again, my opinion.

David Gregory is such a wet end. He is either completely ignorant of basic economics (and history of what happens economically when taxes are cut) or deliberately deceptive. Considering how he calls tax cuts something that has to be "paid for," as though money not being taken by the government from people is something owned by the government that it has to give up, tells me he's being deliberately deceptive. Of course, it doesn't completely rule out his being an economic ignoramus who is more easily duped by "the government of the United States IS the United States" crowd.

I like how Christie said that David Gregory was "advocating" in his question. That's exactly what he was doing. He kept using the term tax CUTS when that's not what it would be at all.

Did anyone else notice the very brief disdainful glance that Governor Christie aimed at Gregory at one point? LOL He's good because he doesn't back down in interviews. I guess that ability comes from having been a district attorney.

The tax payer (about 50% of our population) doesn't pay for a tax cut but they sure as heck pay for a tax increase.

Great line! Thanks.

I know Gregory is not the brightest of bulbs, but... wow!

He knows what he's doing. He employed a standard deception in his talk of compromise. This compromise involves one side getting as much of what it wants as it can and the other side giving as little as it can. In every such compromise the first side will get something and the second side will give something.

Sonny, you would possibly be correct if we were on the left hand side of the bell on a laffer curve. There is a point where cutting taxes results in less revenue. However, we are so far from that point as to be asinine.

Basically: X=tax revenue.
Yh= High tax rate
Yl= Low tax rate.

So, X=Yh=Yl.

There is an optimal point where Yh=Yl=Yo(optimum)= Maximum tax revenue.

Any extra tax rate above, Yo equals a brake on the economy.
