Here come the howls of outrage. "You are anti-union." Well, you're only partially right. I'm anti-government employee union. I don't have a particular problem with the legality of private-sector unions, so long as: (1) Employees vote by secret ballot as to whether or not the union will be formed; and (2) No employee should ever be forced to join a union nor should they be forced to pay dues to any union.
Government employee unions? Those are a completely different matter. These are people who spend millions of dollars to elect their bosses and then demand raises, pension plans and other benefits of those very bosses with threats that they will fire them if they refuse to go along. The taxpayers then have to pay for these bloated salaries, pensions and benefits. If more money is needed to pay the union tab, the unions then start spending millions on campaigns to raise taxes. It was government labor unions that were the primary financiers of the recent campaign to initiate a state income tax in the State of Washington. Why? The state needed the money to fund their classy ride.
It was John F. Kennedy who gave federal government employee unions the right to engage in collective bargaining. This was done not through legislation, but through an executive order. Franklin D. Roosevelt campaigned federal employee unions ... Kennedy presented this wonderful gift to the American taxpayer.
Here's something the Republicans can address. They need to begin making the case immediately for decertifying all federal government employee unions. For decades the primary advantage of being a federal employee was relative job security. Now these people make more than their counterparts in the private sector, they have better pension plans and better benefits ... and, as I said, they elect their own bosses. It needs to end.
Do YOU want YOUR tax money USED AGAINST YOU???
"To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical." Thomas Jefferson, 1779.
I’ve been saying this for a little while
AMEN!!! STOP THE MADNESS!! Pensions need to be STOPPED ASAP!!! Let them collect SS and have a 401K!!!
No argument from me.
Correction: ALL UNIONS ARE OUR ENEMY.
Public unions are definitely one of the enemies arrayed against us.
Journalists are another.
Academics (in the liberal arts and soft sciences) are another.
The plaintiff’s bar is another.
And the Joooooos.
(JUST KIDDING ABOUT THE LAST ONE! But the others are REALLY our enemies.)
It goes beyond pensions. The root of the problem is the ability of public employee unions to, in effect, be on both sides of the table when all types of employee issues are being negotiated. The only real solution is to ban public employee unions.
Why? I don't have a problem with private companies creating unions.
I’ll take it a step further, tear out all unions by the roots.
Who do public employee unions have a grievance with? Taxpayers. That’s reason enough to make them illegal.
Zero tolerance for marxists in US government.
Investigate and arrest members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, send the red sons of bitches back underground.
Declare all States "Right to Work" states, no more forced compulsory union dues in order to keep your job.
Defund the marxist trade and government worker unions.
No one will pay union dues voluntarily.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus must be targeted and destroyed as well their allies in the press and academia.
No holds barred, take no prisoners, name names and make these red bastards pay dearly for the consequences of nearly one hundred years of insidious and unrelenting attacks on capitalism and judeo-christian morality.
The days of marxists operating in the open in your face and you'll like it or else are fast drawing to a close.
THESE RED SONS OF BITCHES THINK THEY CAN STEAL MORE AND MORE OF THE PRODUCTIVE CLASS MONEY THROUGH THE ELECTORAL PROCESS.
The party is over.
Bump.
how can it be legal for government employess to band together to lobby each other for more government money?
This would be like football players meeting with other football players to negotiate their next contracts.
Government unions are the barbarian hordes of our time.
“NO ONE who gets a regular paycheck from the taxpayers SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO VOTE “
My husband loses his right to vote because he works for the government??? He was also military, paid by taxpayers. Should they not be allowed to vote either?
Could be that they can continue to vote their own raises? Not sustainable.
By the way, my husband is not in a government union. He is an administrator and hates the union.
I’ve been beating this drum for years myself.
Make it so #1.
Too bad his wages are docked to support politicians he hates. And there’s NOTHING he can do about it.
