I’m just glad he didn’t make any affectations of reverence to the Buddha. I thought he was going to start circumambulating it but, thankfully, he didn’t. It would have been totally phony.

Interesting! I also discovered a few weeks ago, that the painting, "The Great Wave off Kanagawa",

by Hokusai, depicted a tsunami that washed inland far enough to knock that Great Buddha off its base. That must have been SOME wave, cause that statue is HUGE!
