$1.6 Billion and 18,000 additional government employees for S.510, the Food Safety bill, are up for a vote in the Senate any time within the next 60 days. S.510 is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation thus far.
Since 2008, the Obama administration has increased the FDA budget by 135% to an astounding $4.03 Billion and yet Senators want to add another $1.6 Billion and double the number of employees. Why? Is our government trying to institute fascist control over our nations food supply? You decide.
If accepted, [S 510] would preclude the publics right to grow, own, trade, transport, share, feed and eat each and every food that nature makes. It will become the most offensive authority against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural products of ones choice. It will be unconstitutional and contrary to natural law or, if you like, the will of God. ~ Dr. Shiv Chopra, Canada Health Whistleblower
The US already has an over-funded government agency responsible for food safety. One must ask themselves why this new legislation (S.510) is needed. It doesnt take a mental giant to understand whats going on.
Let me be direct; Americans do not want the transformation that this government intends. Reference: The Obama administration is proposing to increase funding for the agencys effort to transform the way it regulates food and medical products and FDA Requests $4.03 Billion to Transform Food Safety System, Invest in Medical Product Safety, Regulatory Science.
Perhaps this video will provide a better understanding of what the Obama administration is attempting to do:

In 2007, the FDA Commissioner stated that the FDA Mission is as follows:
FDA is responsible for ensuring the safety and high quality of more than a trillion dollars worth of products that are critical for the survival and well-being of all Americans products that include some 80 percent of the United States food supply, all human health care products, electronic products that emit radiation, animal drugs and feed, and cosmetics.
The only way to determine whether food is safe is to test it, right? I didnt see any test equipment in the hands of the government employees raiding that store, did you? Does the FDA Mission specify that the government has a right to conduct armed raids on food producers or stores?
These types of raids are happening now, so imagine what will happen if S.510 passes.
I urge you to contact all Senators and tell them to VOTE NO on S.510.
Raw Foods Raid - The Fight For the Right To Eat What You Want
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioN0ehlyyXI
Info under the video: This summer armed government agents raided Rawesome Foods, a Venice, California health food co-op. What were the agents after? Unpasteurized milk, it turns out.
Raw milk raids are happening all over the United States. The Food and Drug Administration warns that raw milk consumption can cause health problems, but a growing community of raw foods enthusiasts are ignoring government recommendations and claiming that they are getting tastier, more nutritious food by going raw.
Reason.tv visited Rawesome to examine the circumstances of the raid and discovered that this particular raw foods case stretches across county lines and involves at least five separate government agencies, despite the fact that not a single member of Rawesome has complained or been harmed by the raw foods. In fact, members have to sign a contract stating that they understand and accept the risks of consuming raw foods before they are allowed to step inside.
If members of a private club sign a waiver stating that they want to drink a certain type of milk, why is the government getting involved? As Jarel Winterhawk, a manager at Rawesome, puts it, "This is America. How are you going to tell me what I can and cannot eat?"
Though no charges have yet resulted from the raid, Rawesome is threated with shutdown due to the involvement of yet another government agency, Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, and the club's raw goat milk supplier, Healthy Family Farms, has had its dairy license suspended.
"Raw Foods Raid" is written and produced by Zach Weissmueller. Camera by Alex Manning and Weissmueller. Senior Producer is Ted Balaker. Music by Jami Sieber, Five Star Fall, and Kammen and Swan (Magnatune Records).
Approximately 7 minutes.

The motto of wannabe tyrants: “He who controls the food, controls the people.”
First, thanks for this post. I am trying to find all the info I can about this b.s. bill. I may have to get drunk to read it, though, as I am becoming agitated to the point I can’t take much more of this damn administration.
I read about the Rawsome raid when it happened earlier this summer. Funny thing is that these little granola munchers are just the type that run around with their “Obama/Biden” bumper stickers yapping on & on about healthcare reform blah blah blah. I know the type. Now, they finally get a taste of their own medicine. Dummies.
As for my garden, they will have to pry the hoe from my cold dead hands. MOLON LABE!
Except for the cucumbers, they give me gas. Oh, and the peppers, their for my wife and they don't sit all that well either.
But other than that, MOLON LABE!
Oh, squash, yea, I do a few of those for the relatives. You can have those too. BUT NO MORE THAN THOSE!
Idgit. It’s “they’re”, not “their”.
And the hits just keep on coming..........
This bill is nothing more than a welfare check for the Big Agri firms who already benefit from Free Trade Globalism.
510 will kill the small farms and specialty farms around the country...and force Americans to continue to use the Agri-crap coming in from Communist China via Big Ag

BTTT!!! Remember the Melamine alert!!! >
“Idgit. Its theyre, not their.”
“Idgit” Ah, the very word me blessed Grandmother used to call me.
The bill doesn’t define what a “food facility” is, as far as I can tell, so the Government could call your home garden a “ food facility”.
Most days all I have to do is look in the mirror.
Nothing like the pot calling the kettle black. God I love this. Thanks for the laugh. I needed that.
“Most days all I have to do is look in the mirror.”
LOL! Me too.
I wrote/called the Burpees Seed Co. to find out its take on the S510 bill currently in front of the Senate. I told them I was particularly concerned about the following language in the bill:
If implemented, S510 can define as a crime to clean, store, and own seeds or seed stocks unless granted that right by the federal government.
Their response:
I will find out about this and will let you know.
left me with the feeling that they were unaware of the bill - how could that be? In any event, I will keep you posted if I get a response.
My daughter is going to put the following links on Facebook to get the word out:

I would suggest that other Freepers reach out to everyone and anyone to get the bad news out about this bill. This affects everyone regardless of political persuasion.
Outlaw all food production in the US export from China convince the American public that it is safe while knowing and allowing China to slowly poison us, nice scam! One way to get rid of these pesky teaparty radicals and domestic terrorists AKA “the American PEOPLE” standing in thier way.
This thing is flying under the radar and it appears to be a slam dunk. The cloture vote was something like 74-25 and, IIRC, the House already passed its version.
Someone help me out here, but isn’t the strategy to pressure the House to a NO vote on reconciliation?
And someone needs to start a ping list for this.
