The issue isnt Bristols dancing, but her popularity. And because of who Bristol is, that means the issue is the popularity of her mother. The unexpectedly large number of people voting for Bristol contradicts the going mood of the gallery of bubble-wrapped Palin-haters who really believed that Palin was being booed that night in the audience at DWTS, and that all of America was booing her, too. Like the old story of Pauline Kael, flabbergasted by Nixons landslide in 1972 when she didnt know a single person who voted for him, the average Palin-hater has existed until now in safe ignorance theres anyone around who can stand her.
There are certain kinds of collective hate that only feel good when its unanimous. Once have a gainsayer in the crowd and you start feeling shameful and small, and next thing you know youre questioning the rightness of loathing someone just for saying, refudiate, while still driving around with that Mean People Suck bumper sticker on your Subaru.

Maybe there’s a backlash to the kinds of people who were winning in the past. It seems to me that an olymbpic ice skater has a much bigger edge than, let’s say, someone like Bristol Palin. It always seemed unfair to me. Ice skaters are dancers on ice. So they are professional already. These three finalists really look like amateurs. I saw one of the early shows and the black kid wasn’t very good. I’m surprised to see him in this picture. He must have improved as much as Bristol, because she wasn’t so hot either.

A very thick scholarly tome could be written on why anyone would ‘hate’ Sarah Palin. The abortion lovers, gay rights crowd and socialists may hate her politics but there is no reason at all to hate Sarah as a person. IMO, she is a prime example of what's right with America.

As I said before, if it wasn't a "popularity show", there would be NO capability for the viewers to vote...period.
Stars/celebrities are paired up with professional dancers/dance instructors, and are taught the routines to perform in public and on National TV.
Backstage antics draw as many viewers as does the actual dancing. I mean, who would want to miss Jennifer Gray squalling week after week, or Brandi getting pissed and walking out? That's drama the network drools over when it involves celebrities.
But the dancing? Well, I watched the show for the first time this year, just because Bristol was on it. Most of the time the judges point out things that I - with the untrained eye - did not even notice. After watching it for several weeks, it's quite obvious who the judges are rooting for and who they would like to see disappear.
From the looks of the Judges and the daggers coming from Gray's eyes when Brandi was voted off last week,I can see the writer's point that if Bristol wins, it's going to be Bush vs Gore all over again.
But the anti-Palinites deserve it. Most of us vote for Briston - not just because her name is "Palin" - but because those who are complaining would totally burn up a phone line that was labeled "VOTE AGAINST BRISTOL". It's a backlash to the Palin-haters.
And the writer said that if Bristol wins, it will make DWTS totally a "popularity show"...my question is, when was it anything else? Three "show judges" doesn't make it an offical dance "contest", as they seem to relish their antics on camera as well.
I'm more interested in seeing the new show coming on after the finale of DWTS, "Skating With The Stars"...that should be funny.

The judges like Kyle (the black kid) and he’s improved and he has lots of personality. Not mentioned (of course) is the black vote for him. Too bad for Brandy that the majority of the black vote went for Kyle.
Jennifer Grey might as well be the professional, and maybe she should be dancing with an amateur.
I enjoy watching Jennifer dance. Heck, I enjoy watching all of them dance, but I’m not a fan of the show. I don’t have plans to watch next season.

Exactly so. There is absolutely no reason to hate Sarah and I cringe every time someone says that. It’s the wrong thing to say.

I would like to see this end the show...
1. Winner- Jennifer Grey
2. Bristol Palin
3. Disney young man..(Forgot his name)
Bristol improved more than any other person on this season’s show and she had no entertainment background.
Jennifer was in one of my favorite movies...Dirty Dancing.

Who could forget that line: *No one puts baby in the Corner*!I loved her line from Ferris Bueller,
"Excuse me: if whoever was in this house is still in the house, I'd like you to know that I've just called the police. I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* case of herpes. "

It sure would be nice if democrats worried this much about the integrity of the vote when it came to REAL elections. This is a parlor game.

there is no reason at all to hate Sarah as a person. IMO, she is a prime example of what's right with America. That's just it.
Her goodness destroys the very essence of their ideology. She is like a crucifix to a vampire to them.
They cannot stand her precisely because she is so right and wholesome.
I only have to say her name and my liberals acquaintances deteriorate into a snarling mish mash of spittle and venom...it's kinda fun to watch.

You're missing the point. DWTS is not about talent, it is a popularity contest, the judges don't pick the winners, the audience does. So it has been up until Bristol and so it will be after she is gone. The left simply needs to get a life.

I think I’ll vote for Bristol, too, just to aggravate the lefties who are apoplectic about anything “Palin”. They seem to actually be paranoid about this stuff!
