Educated opinion is increasing that last Tuesday's murder of Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen may have been a targeted hit as reported by Hollie McKay for Fox News: "some evidence is starting to suggest that Chasen's murder was a premeditated, professional drive-by shooting and not a random act of violence as initially speculated, experts said." No one is yet willing to use the "m" word although one person stated: "Hollywood is a very vicious place now, it is not how it used to be. The mob has always been here, but this place has really changed. You have to really watch where you're going, be mindful of everyone around you." Chasen "suspected she was being followed as far back as March" as reported by the New York Post: "Ronni said in March she suspected she was being followed, but didn't know by whom. She said she was scared. Some people close to her believe it was a hit, but nobody knows why."

On November 7 "five casting directors in the Los Angeles area received death threats via their office telephones" as reported by Daniel Holloway for Backstage. The casting directors "reached out to Teamsters Local 399" in reaction to the death threats, and the union in turn encouraged them "to alert security personnel at the studios where they work and the local police."

Speculative query: did Chasen have any "connected" acting clients who recently have been unable to obtain work?
