Preparing for the End of the World: Making Your Family Tough
Human Events ^ | 11/30/10 | Skip Coryell

Posted on 11/30/2010 5:47:13 AM PST by Kartographer

In the opening article of this series I painted the following picture:

Close your eyes and imagine a world without electricity: no Fox News, no facebook, no email, no Blackberry, no cold drinks, no heat in the winter, no automobiles, no food and no way to cook it even if you had it. It’s the end of the world as we know it (TEOTWAWKI) and you and your family are going to die.

That’s a pretty bleak picture. But I left you with a little hope.

I clarified it by saying: “Unless, of course, you are prepared.”

He promised to never leave us nor foresake us.

And to proved all we NEEDed.

He is faithful to His promises regardless of circumstances or appearances from our perspective.

David said he’d never seen the righteous foresaken nor their seed begging bread.

I also love modern conveniences and I live on a farm, I know what it takes to put food on the table and I know how to preserve it. I too, take advantage of stores for most of my food but back in the day I grew and canned all our food and made most of our clothes just because I could, it isn’t that hard to do, my grandparents did it and had a fine life.

Prayer doesn’t replace acts.

There was a sudden flood and a man seeing the flood coming stood on the rooftop of his house. The flood water started rising and the man said “I have nothing to fear, God will save me!” He then prayed for god to save him. He waited for God to reach down and move him off the rooftop to safety but nothing happend, suddenly a raft appeared, the man on the raft said, “Sir, I have room for one more, hop on and it will bring us to safety.” The man on the roof replied, “I do not need your raft. for God will save me from this flood.”

The water continued to rise and the man keeping his faith strong in god was sure that god would save him from the flood. A man in a canoe rowed by and said, “Sir hop in this canoe, we’ll be sure to make it to safety.” However the man on the rooftop said, “For me to jump in the canoe would show I lack faith, I believe god will save me from this rooftop and not a canoe.”

Soon the water was at his waist, a man came driving by in his large boat and said, “Sir, theres plenty of room in this boat, please hop in and we’ll be safe for sure.” However staying strong in faith the man decided that god will still save him from the rooftop and he does not need a boat.

The water eventually drowned him and when he died he talked to god and said, “God why did you not save me? I kept my faith strong but you did not reply.” God then replied, “I sent you the raft, I sent you the canoe and I sent you the boat, absolutely I heard your prayers and answered them.”

I think that a year to two years is a reasonable goal. Long enough to survive things like a EMP or a Solar Flare.

I was doing some reading on an EMP and assuming there was a big enough burst at a high enough elevation that most of NA was effected the authors estimated that 90% of the population would be dead in a year. I thought that was ridiculous on it's face when I read it...and still think it's way too high...but in any case life will not be pretty in the face of such a catastophe. There will be millions of people who think they are prepared for such an event but there will also be hundreds of millions who aren't prepared to last a week. And many of those folks will descend on everyone else like packs of ravenous wolves when they get hungry enough, cold enough and scared enough. Imagine what it would be like to be stuck in Phlly or NYC when THSHTF. Once they've destroyed those cities they'll move out to the burbs and finally the countryside. Ugly scenario.

THANKS BIG.

GREAT PREP MANUAL.

Note, Amils, Preterists, Postmils, REPLACEMENTARIANS were pinged as a courtesy in case some of them have been paying enough attention with the newspaper in one hand and Bible prophecies in the other to be awake enough to

BEGIN at this late stage to get their families ready for what’s looming on the near horizon.

The rest of them are welcome to go back to sleep . . . perhaps practicing the fetal position as they sleep.

Hint, the North Korean etc. noises are more than hot air noises. These blokes:

http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/quotes/index.htm

REALLY HAVE assigned the NK’s a key trigger role in lighting off the WWIII festivities. God knows the timing and when He will allow it to get rolling.

That it WILL GET ROLLING in the NOT DISTANT future, in a big way, is not the LEAST bit in doubt. Not in the least.

If folks pretending to have brains, eyes, ears, observing the shifting puzzle pieces are still willfully blind, they may well deserve the worst of what’s ahead to hit them hard upside the head. However, I doubt their families have all earned the same hard consequences for willful UNBiblical ignorance.

Folks who choose to DISBELIEVE The Bible about this looming period being the worst the world HAS EVER KNOWN AND EVER WILL KNOW

either don’t believe the Bible is the Word of God

or have turned off too big a percentage of their brains to make sense of the evidence.

In those cases, God have mercy on all who depend on such clueless ones for anything.

I FIERCELY AGREE WITH YOU.

Perhaps you’ve noticed my screaming, waving my arms and colorful posts attempting to wake folks on FR up for more than 10 years.

Thanks for you kind words about my manual. As you know since you downloaded it, it is heavily based upon the LDS Preparedness Manual as compiled by Brother Christopher M. Parrett who gathered together the works of many different authors from the public domain of the Internet over the course of many years. I have edited and added some information not in his original. I also rewrote parts so that the manual is more generically direct toward those of all Christian faiths, but in many cases I have left quotes from the Book of Mormon, so be warned if you are easily offended, but words of praise for God never offend me no matter what tongue they are written in. I have heard from a number of Saints that have passed on my manual to non-Saint friends and neighbors just for that reason. It allows them to give them information on preparing themselves without feeling pressed to join the church. And now Brother Parrett tells me that he is revamping the LDS Preparedness Manual and parts of my manual are making their way into his update.

Of course as I stated....yet he KNOWS it will be over in less than 7 days. Even in the arctic shows he had a rifle due his position on the critter food chain.

I can sit under a tree , drink from puddles an live under a debris hut for 7 days if I KNOW my ride out will be there at 0700 local
.

The fear an unknown factors are not present. Thus the missing part one must overcome that proves one ......tough.

You are utterly dillusional.

For ten years you've been a cross between Art Bell and Jimmy Swaggart!

I’d just as soon die early and be with my Creator

I often have pondered that same question. Would I rather survive and fight or go be with Jesus? I still have not come to a definitive conclusion, although the latter is the ultimate goal.

Those of a different mind . . .

The willfully blind,

willfully ignorant,

willfully dumb,

willfully clueless,

the willfully totally unaware,

perspectives are always a great contrast.

Scripture says the wise man sees the calamity approaching and prepares.

I prefer to be wise.

I’d rather go HOME early . . . but that’s God’s turf to decide that issue.

LOL!!!

Me too.

In all the prep stuff I’ve seen, one thing stands out as missing.

Salt.

Salt can be kept in canning jars with the lids tightly screwed on to be hermetically sealed.

It is essential for survival and yet I rarely see it mentioned as a basic necessity.
