What is wrong with this picture?

That’s right, its caption is screwball: “Former Alaska Gov. Her hair is not being “done.” There are no scissors, no curling irons, no hairbrushes, no hair spray.

There may not even be a comb.

And her stylist turns out to be Bristol Palin.

The cutline is plain wrong.

Lori Ziganto said it was sexist.

No, dearie. The Associated Press is not being sexist.

The AP is being petty.

That is worse.

From the story that accompanied the photo: “Palin’s trip was largely closed to the press and she declined to take questions at the news conference… Exclusive access during the trip was given to Fox News, whose Greta van Susteren traveled with the group to Haiti. A video was also posted online by the aid group showing Palin holding hands with Haitian children, visiting cholera patients and handing out Christmas presents.”

So she is not playing nice with the press — if I were her adviser, I would advise her to tone it down a little — and the press is sniping back.

But sniping back is not the role of the press.

So you get stupid stories about Palin having a hair stylist with her.

Who do they think she is? Him?

AP certainly had the time and money to assign eleven something ‘fact checkers’ to pour through Going Rouge looking for anything with which to blast Sarah...and how much time did the AP spend dumpster diving in AK looking for any Palin dirt? AP is the Jets coach of journalism, always looking for a way to trip Sarah.

The entire state run “media” is anti-Palin. The only “media” out there that is fair to her is FOX. The rest ALL suffer from severe cases of PDS.

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin traveled to Haiti this weekend as a guest of the Rev. Franklin Graham and Samaritan's Purse to spotlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the earthquake and cholera-stricken Caribbean (half an) island nation. Instead she has found herself embroiled in a scandal, accused of bringing a hair stylist on the trip to make herself look good for the cameras and "photo-ops.".The Associated Press transmitted a photo from Haiti of Palin captioned, "Former Alaska Gov. We’re just going to have get used to this, its not going to get any better. The good news is most people are going to look at that picture and realize the caption is crap, so this isn’t the worst example of the media trying kneecap her that I’ve seen.

Well, at least she didn't tie up air control traffic for two hours and spend $200 on a haircut, a la bill clinton.

Sarah is just doing what millions of women across the country do...it's called "fixing her hair" before going out into public. I've known very few women who didn't do that, and if she had come out in front of the news cameras without fixing her hair, the wailing and gnashing of teeth would have been heard all the way to Russia.

People who are looking for something to bitch about, can always find it...it's not a trait inherent to being in the media.
