CBS News allowed the following comment to be published on its website, following an article about Obama’s visit to Arizona yesterday:
... Who were the doctor(s) and nurse(s) at Kapi`Olani that delivered Barack? My ex-wife worked at the hospital and I understand the records at Kapi’Olani are impeccable. Where are the foot prints? What public records exist that can even demonstrate that Mrs. Obama was even at Kapi’Olani on the day of Barack’s birth? Talk at Kapi`Olani, would have been unabashed, the city of Honolulu at the time very racist towards black people.

I’m amazed that absolutely no one who was in that maternity ward has come forward and told the world that they were there the day O was delivered. Did mom have a room mate? Unlike today, you spent a good 3-5 days in the hospital after a normal delivery. Not one nurse, doctor, aid or patient has ever bragged about their close encounter with the future Messiah. How different from Clinton who every Tom, Dick, Harry and Sally claimed to have an up close and personal relationship. Sorry, it doesn’t add up.

So I guess Obama’s wasn’t filed until about four days after birth, when maybe the mother was just arriving back from her overseas trip .... No, cannot suggest such a thing.

BTW
to the other FReeper from Brooklyn hospital, NY is not nearly the same as Hawaii and we can see from the numbers on the certificates that births in Hawaii were few and far between... especially to 18 year olds with half white half black babies.

The Hawaiian Birth Index notes that there were 1,000 “births” recorded in Hawaii by parents who were actually outside of Hawaii when birth took place i.e. the parents recorded a “late birth” upon their return.

An explanation with language as garbled as “the state ‘9-months pregnant’ is not exactly a constant state” hardly deserves a “duh.” Let us just say point settled. I was wrong to quote the 9 months part, anyway. That’s not the real issue, as it could be explained that her being excessively pregnant kept her from leaving rather than coming.
My fundamental question remains unanswered. So far as I understand the timeline, she has to go to Africa some time between being a couple months pregnant (based on getting married in Hawaii) and giving birth. When did she go? Where’s the evidence she did?
By the way, if she was refused travel due to an advanced state of pregnancy, why did she want to leave? Perhaps to have the child back home? If that’s the case, why go to Africa in the first place?

Thats precisely why I would think they might speak up.
Many would welocme a 15 minutes of fame...someone somewhere would welcome the noteriety, even 50years later. All that coupled with the millions Zee-rho has spent fighting the release of his records makes me go “hmmmm”.
The letter brings up some interesting points.
According to the 1960 Hawaii census (which identifies blacks as “negros”), all of Hawaii (633,000 people) had 4943 negros (0.7%).
And it can be guessed that a large fraction of this was in the armed forces (46,600 in armed forces x 10% negros in US population = 4660 negros in Hawaii based US forces).
Leaving less than 300 non-military blacks in the entire state of Hawaii in 1960.

but aren’t all the examples listed above very symptomatic of a regular drug user, as we know him to have been in the past (even the recent past) ...

But in 1961, a non-military black in Hawaii was very rare. I estimated (in an earlier post) that there were less than 300 non-military blacks in the entire state of Hawaii. For such a man to have a white wife would have certainly drawn attention.
I wouldn’t expect doctors and nurses to remember it either. But I would think that other Hawaiian blacks or those whites of a friendly/welcoming nature, seing that blacks were rather rare in Hawaii, would have been more supportive and there would have been photos, parties, cards, etc.
