I have to say the real failure here is on the part of Raese and the Republicans. Joe Manchin shot a bullet through the “Cap and Trade” bill and that created a perception that he was somehow conservative. Raese and the GOP did not do a good enough job pointing out the obvious—that Manchin would be Harry Reid’s b___tch whenever his vote was really needed.
The other side of the coin is that perhaps West Virginians really aren’t that conservative. Its a populist state that isn’t comfortable with wine and cheese Limousine Libs like Obama but that doesn’t make them conservative. Maybe they really want Communist medicine.
I just got an email from my senator (Warner, D-VA) who didn’t have the stones to vote on the record for Obamacare, but he’s breaking his arm patting himself on the back over getting the US Army to straighten out their record keeping at Arlington Nat’l Cemetery. Good job, senator. LOSER

Politicians lie to get elected. It’s what they do.

Perhaps there is a way to overcome lying to voters.
If the voters are the “bosses”, and the employee is a senator or a house member, then the voters have a right to remove an employee who lied in order to get his job.
Thus, a politician who won his position by promising certain actions, and then, once in office, turns around and does the opposite of his promises, then that should be grounds for automatic recall. That should be part of a constitutional amendment within state legislatures. However, it should not be subjected to abuse, and it should be very clear that a government official did in fact lie or reverse himself after he/she got elected.
Outside of the far left coast and in the bastions of liberal lunacy on the east coast, could any liberal get elected by telling the truth? I doubt it. Liberalism can only be sold by telling lies and making outrageous promises none of them have any intention or ability to keep. Manchin has been doing the lying from the time he entered public life because he is a lying liberal Democrat.
Let's not blame the Republicans for the brainwashed group of people the Democrats call "leaders", okay? I swear, the Democrat party is like the Moonies--you cannot convince them to THINK about their beliefs or go against their Dear Reader!
McCaskill and Nelson are a couple of clowns who walked a walk of "moderation", perhaps, but deep down they're devoted liberals. Same damn thing with B.H.O., though you'll NEVER hear that in the Drive By Media.
