The party staged by Andrew Breitbart for GOProud the gay Republican and conservative group was as close to a game changer as things get and the most interesting event at CPAC by far, at least to this point and thats meant as no insult to CPAC. With sexy Sophie B. Hawkins singing to a boisterous, supportive crowd, the party almost obliterated in one night the conception that Republicans are anti-gay and gave the impression that young libertarians and some not so young are taking over the GOP. Pretty soon it may be cool to be a Republican and square to be a Democrat.
Well, maybe thats what I wanted to see and wanted to feel, but the atmosphere was certainly there Thursday night at DCs Eighteenth Street Lounge. People wandered the clubs corridors in wonderment at it all. No, there werent any leather biker studs or other accoutrements of the more outre gay scene, but there was as much acceptance of our modern world as at Democratic Party events, especially national ones of the scope of CPAC.
Does this indeed mean that libertarianism in its various strains is taking over the GOP? Again, that is possibly wishful thinking (and I wouldnt want it to be that brand of libertarianism that seems to think the common defense can be accomplished with BB guns in someones garage), but there are indications across CPAC. Again, maybe this is anecdotal, but Ive hardly heard much talk of abortion or other social issues at the conference and when I have it seems vaguely discordant or anachronistic. Most people wanted to discuss the economy or the looming dangers of the Muslim Brotherhood. And, of course, who would be best to put Barack Obama out of office.

That's what I've been trying to say, and apparently, we both are wasting our breath. Doesn't matter; the 100%ers will probably stay home no matter what, pounding on their keyboards against the libertarians or the gays or whoever they want to blame everything on; everyone except where the real blame belongs: an out-of-control federal government and the sheep they control.
Has Brietbart done this? Come on. Give the hyperbole a rest.
Barry repealed DADT. They’re going to vote AGAINST him?! No.
Yes. You are. Homosexuals can vote anyway they want to. They only need an identity group in order to push their agenda. Identity politics is a leftist trick.
Barry repealed DADT. Tell me they'll vote against him.
But whatever. Go ahead, back-stab all the other groups who want smaller government. Just makes more work for all of us.
It doesn't. And with attitudes like I've seen here on this thread today, we won't.
To the mentally healthy (heterosexual) sex is something you do;
To the mentally diseased ('homosexual') sex is everything you are.
No. And you need to learn to stay on topic.
We aren't discussing Jennings, fisting, MA, DADT, or any of the other things you've thrown in my face, including calling me a homosexual.
We are discussing how Brietbart and libertarians can be our allies in the cause of smaller and more constitutional government, and how people like you can't see that.
You and the other poster seem to think we NEED 2% or less of the population that are sexual deviants in order to beat Obama. Again, he repealed DADT. Tell me they will vote against him.
You think you’ll win with libertarians? Um, ok.
For the 18th time, my post (and Glock's I think) were about BRIETBART! I was also thinking about libertarians as allies.
Please get this through your thick head: we aren't defending gays! Sheesh!
Both these points are correct.
But if Brietbart comes out tomorrow with a story on BigGovernment.com about some underhanded voter corruption program, isn't that a good thing? Then, even if Brietbart's personal moral compass is screwed up, if he works toward smaller government, isn't he helping us, too?
That's all I'm really saying here. You want me to be saying so much more than that, that I support the gay agenda, yadda, yadda, yadda. Well I don't and I'm not.
Not so. My push is to have limited government, even when legislating what we agree is moral behavior. You and someone else may work together to get this marriage amendment passed, "for the good morals of the country," only to find that this someone else worked with the homos to force you to buy an electric car "for the good morals of the country."
My strategy is limited government, plain and simple. That includes education, which is where we are *really* losing this battle. So long as we focus on the symptom (gay marriage) and not the cause (liberal control of the education system) we are going to lose.
When did I ever say such a thing to you?
Exactly. I really don’t know who the 100 percent club thinks is going to beat obama that meets their purity test.
It is a sad day when evil plants itself inside your home.
no that is the problem with you , you cannot seem to understand that allowing homosexual groups into CPAC is allowing the homosexuals cause,
FHS can’t you read their manifesto, it’s all about homosexual rights
no libertarians are socially liberal, joining with them and having them tell conservatives what we should accept os pure crap
BTW, Why are you so keen on defending AB,?
I mean you read a post about him which you d not agree and now you are on here all day and yesterday saying how we should accept them ,
well guess what , most of us are not in the conservative circle but if you want then by all means go ahead you join with them but you are in a minority as this thread shows
LOL
Two posters on a thread with conservatives pretending that they should be telling us what conservatives must accept
priceless.
reminds me of the rude paul voters, hardly any of them but they try and make out they are the majority
you call the poster thick, and yet you defend AB which is defending homo’s
think about that and no I’m not interested in carbon emissions by Sarah, hope you’re off your drugs by now
Libertarians are referred to as liberaltarians on FR for a reason.
