Even if you drill in Alaska it will not change the amount of oil imported, lowest shipping cost is the shortest point from supply to market. There are several oil shipping charts on the web. Oil is a fungible commodity.
An increase in global supply brings a decrease in price.

20 more nuclear power plants online would really help quite a bit as well...
It sorta sucks that we had three parts of the government for a few years and this stuff was never passed. What a let down. We could have done so much with having the majority of everything.

It takes over 5 years to get a Nuclear plant built, even with all the red tape out of the way.

When they say “energy independence” I think what they mean is “independence from energy.”

The South Texas Project already has nuclear reactors. They’re just adding two more. It’s a done deal as far as permits. The eco-freaks will feel real lonely protesting out near Bay City, Texas.

Yes.
I fully expect them to not be built at all.

"It sorta sucks that we had three parts of the government for a few years and this stuff was never passed. What a let down. We could have done so much with having the majority of everything." It's a mistake to think that the Pubbies have the best interests of America at heart. They don't.
The sole purpose of the Republican Party is to serve as an ineffective alternative to the Democrat Party.

Adding two more.
Which have to be built.
Expect the reenies to freak out and the reactors to not be built at all.
Permits mean nothing when it comes to that.
And as we’ve seen in Wisconsin, they can bus in a sizable number of rent-a-protestors.
Just keep your eyes peeled.
