Above is the lead paragraph of a story which appears on the website of CBS Chicago at (SOURCE).
At the time this story was published 25 letters had been received.
The article goes on to explain that the writer of at least one of the letters claims there are a total of 160 nuclear bombs, which were smuggled into the USA and these bombs have already been planted in schools, stadiums, churches, stores, financial institutions — and government buildings. According to the recipient of one of the letters, the writer claims to be Bin Laden, himself, and he declares that, yes, this IS a suicide mission.
The FBI is on the case and, as usual, are saying very little publicly about it. But, the letters apparently turned up in other states as well. Among them, Oregon, California, Texas and Florida also got the letter, which has a Chicago postmark.
So… what if it is true? Or what if it is the work of terrorists just being terrorists? See — the work of a terrorist is to create terror or to spread terror.
Or — what if it is just a hoax … a cruel “April Fool’s Day” joke?
Well, this is the kind of hoax that could land the perpetrator in jail for oh, say, two-hundred and fifty years. (Up to ten years in jail for each letter)

Given the status of our southern border it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Muzzies had smuggled 160 bombs into the USA. It would be more surprising if they hadn’t done something like this.....

Now you know why everyone seems brain dead when it comes to Obama. There has been a major blackmail of government going on for a long time and it arrived with Obama. This is a leak likely brought forth by someone inside who got cold feet. The FBI has nothing to investigate since they already know what is going on. Their job is to quiet the story and make it disappear. Remember Flight 800.

The rumor of 160 al-Qaeda nukes in the USA is just that, a rumor.
It is a story fabricated and released to coincide with a hightened fear of radiation by the unwashed masses brought to the news forefront by the Japanese nuclear disaster.
If al-Qaeda brought even a single nuke into the country, they would have used it already, so the whole story is BS.
So that's why elementary school custodians all over the nation mysteriously have been coming down with radiation poisoning /sarc

Sounds like a major BS hoax. Someone has seen the movie “Unthinkable” to many times. This letter writing campaign roughly parallels the movie plot, except the fanatic convert in that case identified himself,showed the bombs and had method,means and opportunity.
Until some can show a bomb this is just criminal fear mongering
My thoughts lately, due to current events has been examining every thing I thought I knew. This process even includes the entire GW Bush Presidency, and the events surrounding and including 9-11. Specifically, the fear in the Presidents eye upon being informed of events. The seeming inability to rally air protection from airliners, and what seems now to be a way that events that should be simple to control, are now spiraling out of control. It is reported that this is happening coincidentally, but in reality it seems planned.
This is not good when people begin to question history, and the honesty of their leaders. It is a very large step towards the kind of anarchy that fits well with the scenery from Britain, Greece, France, Libya, Ireland, ........ shall I continue? It seems we are fracked.
Absolutely correct! Some lab glassware, an incubator, a glove box, and some "bugs" and your in business. Nuclear weapons require a very large and expensive infrastructure to even start a program.
The only other alternative is either theft or huge bribes and if they had succeeded in obtaining a nuclear weapon from say, the former USSR, they would most certainly have slipped it up the East River in a tug boat as soon as they acquired it. My guess is based on the fear that they would no doubt undergo of losing their new toy because of a security breach. Use it or lose it...
And then there is the matter of "shelf life". Early bomb designs used a pulsed neutron source as a sort of spark plug to initiate the chain reaction. They depended on metallic beryllium and polonium (Po210) which emitted neutrons when the core formed a critical mass. More contemporary designs use an electronic source which does not depend on the presence of Po210. This is an issue because Po210 has a half life of a little over 100 days, meaning that bombs of this design have a definite shelf life and require regular maintenance of the initiators lest you wind up with a dud. As noted, US designs have moved away from that problem, I don't know if the Russian designs had also designed around using polonium.

Even if the probability is .005 in any one year, after a long period the cumulative probability is very high.
It may be one bomb or seven or 160. The bombs may have been manufactured in Russia, China, Iran, or Pakistan.
Even worse, it is probably only a matter of time until some nearly illiterate lab assistant using poor lab procedure and lousy personal hygiene releases the Andromeda Strain.
We should be prepared for all kinds of disasters. Among those preparations is knowing who our enemies are, both foreign and domestic.
Be prepared.
There’s even easier and cheaper ways than that. Most river cities, like Chattanooga, Louisville, Cincinnati, Memphis, etc., have big music festivals every summer, usually held in parks near or on the river. Chattanooga’s “River Bend” festival, for incidence, attracts 130,000 people on the big nights. So, terrorists could just motor up the river and at the appropriate moment lob a couple of dozen RPG’s into the crowd. The stampede would kill 10,000 people.
